Safety Notes

Make sure the voltage corresponds to the type label on the device.

Persons with limited physical, sensorial or mental abilities are not allowed to

use the device, unless they are supervised and briefed for their safety by a

qualified person.

The sliding gate opener is designed for opening and closing light-weighted

sliding gates only. The sliding gate opener is designed for private use only.

The sliding gate opener is designed for operating sliding gates in vehicle

drives. Pedestrians must use a separate entrance.

Mounting, maintenance and repairs of the sliding gate opener must be

performed by a qualified person. According to EN 12635, a qualified person is

a person with suitable training, specialist knowledge and practical experience

sufficient to correctly and safely fit, test and maintain the gate system. In case

of failure of the sliding gate opener, a qualified person must be commissioned

immediately for the inspection or repair work. Observe the local safety

regulations to prevent accidents while mounting the sliding gate opener.

Westfalia assumes no liability for improper installation of the sliding gate

opener.

WARNING. There is risk on injuries if the sliding gate opener is not mounted

and operated correctly. Incorrect mounting and operation of the sliding gate

opener may trigger unexpected gate travel. Thus persons or objects can be

trapped.

Do not modify the sliding gate opener in any way.

Electrical installation has to be carried out by a qualified professional only.

Power supply of the sliding gate opener is provided by means of 230 V~ 50

Hz or by means of two batteries. Electrical power should be reserved only for

the sliding gate opener and should be protected by a 10 A fuse.

Check the whole sliding gate system (joints mounting material etc.) for any

signs of wear or damages and do not use the sliding gate opener with a

damaged sliding gate system resp. with signs of rust, fractures or corrosion.

Do not use the sliding gate opener unless repair work or alignment is carried

out properly.

Disable the existing sliding gate locks in order to avoid damages on the gate.

Ensure proper mounting when installing the sliding gate opener. Check the

sliding gate for proper manual operation. It is essential that the sliding gate

can be easily opened and closed by hand.

Install warn signs on both sides of the Gate!

The max. permissible gate size and gate weight must not be exceeded. Using

the gate opener on a larger and heavier gate is not permitted.

Do not allow children to play with the remote control.

Attach the warning signs well visible on the gate and inform all user of the

sliding gate opener about the risk during operation.

Only operate the gate opener if the gate is fully visible and there are no

obstructions, persons or animals. Keep persons or animals out of reach of the

gate as long as the gate is not completely opened or closed. Do not allow

children to stand or play in the gate’s moving range. Make sure movement of

the gate and proper function of the sliding gate opener are not impaired by

obstacles such as twigs, bushes or leaves.

Please mind the danger area. Do not grasp moving parts while the sliding

gate opener is in operation. There is risk of pinching!

Wait until the gate has come to a complete standstill before driving in or out.

Do not pinch the power cord in any way or run around edges while connecting

with the control box.

Hints for persons with cardiac pacemaker. The transmission range of the

remote control is within the relevant standards and generally harmless. To

eliminate residual risk we recommend not carrying the remote control directly

on your body. For your safety, when using the remote control keep it away

from your body and in direction to the gate.

Before undertaking any maintenance on the sliding gate opener, unplug from

power mains (except of test run and while programming).

While drilling cover the sliding gate opener since drilling dust and shavings

can lead to malfunction.

Keep the sliding gate bottom and the ground clean and free of snow, ice,

stones etc.

Safety Notes

Only use original spare parts, original accessory and mounting material.

Only use the mechanical emergency release function for emergency

situations, if the gate e. g. cannot be operated due to power failure or other

malfunction of the gate opener.

The sliding gate opener is maintenance-free. For your own safety the sliding

gate system has to be checked by a qualified person every 6 months for

proper function. The gate must reverse on contact with a right object. If

necessary, existing errors resp. damages have to be repaired immediately,

otherwise severe injuries or damages might result.

Should the sliding gate opener becomes damaged, do not use it any further

and have it repaired by a professional or contact our customer support

department. Do not disassemble the device and do not try to repair it yourself.

Preparation

Before first Use

Unpack all parts of the device and check them for damage in transit and

completeness according to the overview on page III + IV.

Dispose of packaging materials or store it out of reach of children. Plastic bags

etc. may become a deadly toy for children.

Intended Use

The sliding gate opener is only designed for operating light-weighted sliding gates

in the domestic, non-commercial sector with medium transit frequency. The max.

permissible size of the gate and the max. weight must not be exceeded.

Mounting Conditions/Requirements

The sliding gate opener is designed for gates with max. weight of 400 kg. The

structure of the gate has to be rigid (iron, metal, wood). The gate path must

not have any gradients/slopes.

The sliding gate system must be in good mechanical and trouble-free

condition and should not be damaged or has signs of wear. It must be

possible to open and close the gate by hand without any problems. The

mechanical gate lock must be dismounted resp. disengaged.

The gate slide track must be linear and horizontal. The gate poles have to be

fixed in concrete.

The magnet limit switches are correctly positioned.

The control box may only be installed by a qualified professional in an easily

accessible place.

The centre of gravity of the gate must be in the middle of the gate (max.

allowable deviation ± 20 %).

Preparation

1. Check all parts for damage in transit. Do not use a defective sliding gate

opener or defective accessory.

2. To ensure proper and quick mounting, read the manual thoroughly. Allow a

second person to assist you. This will make installation easier.

3. Have the required tools available.

- Power Drill and Drill Bits - Tape Measure/Folding Ruler

- Open End Wrenches (Size 14 and 17) - Wire Stripers

Preparation

- Small Level - Hacksaw

- Philips and Slot Screwdriver - Ball Pen/Pencil

- Socket Insert Set

4. Disengage the existing mechanical sliding gate lock.

Hint: The sliding gate does not need an additional lock as the sliding gate

opener is self-locking when connecting to the sliding gate opener and power

mains. The gate cannot be easily opened without damaging the gate opener

or the hinges of the gate system.

5. Built a concrete pad of approx. 50 x 32 x 35 cm (see drawing on page 7).

The concrete pad should be at least 10 cm over the ground. Increase the pad

height if necessary to protect the gate opener from flooding, heavy snow fall

etc. Make sure the concrete pad is level. Protect the sliding gate opener from

accidental impacts.

6. Prepare one or more channels for the cables before pouring the concrete.

Remember that the cable channels have to pass through the hole in the base

plate (5). Allow the concrete pad to harden sufficiently before mounting the

sliding gate opener on the pad.
