Dryercyclesandsettings

The PERMANENT PRESS cycle helps

provide the special care that permanent

press and synthetic fabrics need. This

cycle dries with heat followed by a 10

minute cool-down period. See the chart

on page

for suggested time and

temperature settings.

The EX HEAVY HEAVY MEDIUM

and LIGHT cycles describe the loads

they are designed to dry. See chart on

page 4 for load description.

At each setting, the dryer will run

about long enough to dry the load

described by the setting. Example:

The HEAVY cycle is designed to be

long enough to dry a load of heavy

fabrics (towels, jeans, corduroys, etc.)

when the Temperature Selector is set

on PERM’T PRESS HEAVY HIGH.

If the load is not as dry as you want,

set the Cycle Control Knob more to

the left the next time you dry that kind

of load.

If the load is dryer than you want

set the Cycle Control Knob more to the

right the next time you dry that kind

of load.

Cool-downtimes

In all cycles, the heal shuts off before

the dryer stops tumbling. This cool-

down time helps:

keep wrinkles from setting in.

make handling the hot load items

easier.

The PERMANENT PRESS cycle has

10 minutes of cool-down time at the end

of the cycle.

All other cycles have 5 minutes of

cool-down time.

To help reduce wrinkling, take the

load from the dryer as soon as tumbling

stops. This is very important for perma-

nent press, knits and synthetic fabrics.

NOTE: Overdrying can cause

shrinkage, static cling and damage to

some fabrics.

LE5705XP and LG5706XP)

(All other models)

Drying plastic or rubber items

with heat may damage the items

or be a FIRE HAZARD. I

UsingFLUFFAIR

The dryer does not heat when the

Temperature Selector is set on FLUFF

AIR. This setting can be used to fluff

or air dry bedding, plastic tablecloths,

foam rubber pillows, stuffed toys,

sneakers, etc.

1. Turn the Temperature Selector to

FLUFF AIR.

2. Turn the Cycle Control Knob to the

number of mrnutes you want in the

PERMANENT PRESS cycle.

3. Push the Start Button.

UsingTUMBLEPRESS”

The TUMBLE PRESS setting removes

wrinkles from clothing such as items

that may have been packed in a suit-

case, closet or items not removed from

the dryer.

1. Set the Temperature Selector on

PERM’T PRESS HEAVY HIGH.

2. Set the Cycle Control Knob on

TUMBLE PRESS.

3. Push the Start Button.

For models LE5650XM,

LG5651XM, LE5705XP and

LG5706XP the load will tumble in

heated air for 5 minutes. Then the dryer

will tumble the clothes for 10 more

minutes without heat.

For all other models the load will

tumble in heated air for 10 minutes.

Then the dryer will tumble the clothes

for 10 more minutes without heat.

UsingDAMPDRY

This setting should be used for damp

items that do not require an entire

drying cycle.

1. Set the Cycle Control Knob on

DAMP DRY in the PERMANENT

PRESS cycle.

2. Push the Start Button.

For models LE5650XM,

LG5651XM, LE5705XP and

LG5706XP the dryer tumbles the load

with heat for 15 minutes, then without

heat for 10 minutes.

For all other models the dryer tum-

bles the load with heat for 20 minutes,

then without heat for 10 minutes.

Lint signal

(models LE5705XP and

LG5706XP only)

Clean the lint screen before each

load. If you neglect to clean your lint

screen, the signal will sound. The

(whistle tone) signal lets you know the

air flow is being restricted. Restricted

air flow reduces drying efficiency.

Turn off the dryer and clean the lint

screen as shown on page 9.

CaringForYourDryer

Cleaningthe lint screen

The lint screen is located under a lid on top of the dryer. Clean it before each

load. A screen blocked by lint can increase drying time.

Do not run the dryer with the lint screen loose,

damaged, blocked or missing. Doing so can

cause overheating, damage fabrics and be a

FIRE HAZARD.

1. Open the lid and pull the lint screen

straight out.

2. Roll lint off the screen with your

fingers. Do not rinse or wash the

screen. Wet lint is hard to remove.

3. Push the lint screen firmly back into

place and close the lid.

Cleaningthe dryer interior

Electric shock hazard. Unplug the

power supply cord or turn off the

electrical power before cleaning

the interior. Failure to do so could

result in electrical shock or injury.

Garments which contain unstable dyes,

such as denim blue jeans or brightly

colored cotton items, may discolor the

dryer Interior. If the interior is discolored,

clean with one of the following methods

to avoid staining later load items.

Caring For Your Dryer
