followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and/or injury to persons,
including the following:
• Read all instructions.
• This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with
reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless they are closely supervised and instructed concerning
use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
• Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near
children. Cleaning and user maintenance should not be carried out by
children without supervision. Children should be supervised to ensure that
they do not play with the appliance. Keep the appliance and its cable out of
the reach of children.
• Do not touch hot surfaces. Use the handles or knobs provided. Care must be
taken as burns can occur from touching hot parts or from spilled, hot liquid.
• To protect against fire, electric shock and personal injury, do not immerse
cable, plug, base or electric kettle in water or other liquid.
• Unplug from the socket when the kettle is not in use and before cleaning.
Allow to cool before fitting or removing parts and before cleaning the
appliance.
• Do not operate any appliance with a damaged power lead or plug, or
after the appliance malfunctions or has been dropped or damaged in any
manner. Power lead replacement and repairs must be conducted by the
manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to
avoid creating a hazard. Call the customer service number provided for
information on examination, repair or adjustment.
• The use of accessories not recommended by the manufacturer may result in

• Do not use outdoors.
• Do not let the lead hang over the edge of the table or countertop, or touch
hot surfaces, including the hob.
• Do not place the kettle on or near a hot gas burner or electric burner or in
a heated oven.
• To disconnect the kettle, stop any active function mode and then remove
plug from wall socket. Never pull on the cable as this may damage it and
eventually cause electric shock.
• Do not use appliance for anything other than its intended use.
• Do not use for anything other than heating water. Other liquids or food will
contaminate the interior and void warranty.
• Do not allow kettle to boil dry.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar environments
such as: staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working
environments; farmhouses; by guests in hotels, motels and other residential-
type environments; and bed and breakfast type environments.
WARNING Electric shock hazard: This appliance is provided with
an earthed (3-prong) plug to reduce the risk of electric shock. The plug only fits
one way into an earthed socket. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the plug by
modifying it in any way or by using an adapter. If the plug does not fit into the
socket, a qualified electrician should replace the socket.
The length of the lead used on this appliance was selected to reduce the
hazards of becoming tangled in or tripping over a longer lead. If a longer lead
is necessary, an approved extension lead may be used. The electrical rating of
the extension lead must be equal to or greater than the rating of the appliance.
Care must be taken to arrange the extension lead so that it does not hang over
the edge of the countertop or tabletop where it could be pulled by children or
accidentally tripped over.
To avoid an electrical circuit overload, do not use another high-wattage
appliance on the same circuit as this appliance.
