1Safety Instructions
The service manual contains basic instructions which must be complied with when
repairwork is being carriedout.Accordingly,the service engineer mustnotfailto read
this service manual before carrying out any repair work. It must be accessible at all
times at the place where the machine is being operated. Moreover not only the general
safety instructions listed in the section dealing with safety should be observed but also
special safety instructions included in the other main sections.
1.1 Marking of Instructions in the Service Manual
Those safety instructions included in this service manual which could lead to
endangermentof persons if ignoredaremarked with the generaldangersymbol
safety symbol as per DIN 4844 - W9,
wherea warning is given concerningelectricalpowerthen
the safety symbol as per DIN 4844 - W8 is used.
Inthe case of safety instructionswherenon-compliancecouldendanger the machine
and its functions, the word
has been added.
Informationaffixed directly to the machine,suchas
mmarkingsshowing direction of rotation
mmarkings for electrical and mechanical connections
mustnever be ignoredandmust always bekeptcompletely legible.

1.2 Personnel Qualifications and Training
Personnel carrying out repair work on this equipment must possess the corresponding
qualificationsfor this work.Theowner must lay downpreciserules regarding the areaof
responsibility,thedutiesand the supervision of the personnel.
If the personnel are not in possession of the necessary skills then they should be
trained and instructed in these. If necessary this can be done by the manufacturer or
supplier at the owner’s request. In addition the owner must ensure that his personnel
fullyunderstand the contents of theservicemanual.
1.3 Danger when Safety Instructions are not Observed
Failure to observe the safety instructions may lead to both endangerment of persons as
alsoof the environmentandthe machine. If youdonot comply with safetyinstructions
this can result in the loss of any claims for losses.
Inparticular non-observance of safety instructionsmaybringwithit the following
potential hazards:
mfailureofmajormachinefunctions
mfailureof the methodsprescribedfor maintenance and repair
mendangerment of persons by electrical, mechanical and thermal effects.
1.4 Safety - Conscious Working
Thesafety instructions drawn up inthisservicemanual,existing national regulations
concerningaccident prevention, and anyinternalwork,operational and safety
regulationsof the ownermustall be observed.
1.5 Safety Instructions for the Service Engineer
Potentialendangermentfrom electrical power must be excluded (fordetailsseefor
example VDE regulations and those of the local power supply authority).
1.6 Safety Instructions for Repair Work
The owner must ensure that all repair work is carried out by authorised and qualified
technicianswho have acquainted themselvesindepth with the service manual.
Work on the equipment will only be carried out when it has been shut down.
Immediatelyafter repair work isfinished all safety andguardfacilities must be replaced
orreactivated.

1.7 Unauthorised Modifications and Manufacture of
Spare Parts
Conversionormodification of the machine isonlypermittedwiththe approval of the
manufacturer.The use of originalspareparts and accessories authorised by
the manufacturer is in the interests of safety. Use of other parts may cancel
manufacturersliabilityfortheensuing consequences.
