ThereareseveralriskswhendisassemblingorassemblinganAxisproduct.Thereisalwaysacertainyieldlossduringassembly.Training

ofoperatorsandtheuseofcorrecttoolsmediatessomeoftheproblemsbuttheycanneverbefullyavoided.Someoftherisksinclude:

ESDDamage-AlwayshandletheproductinanESDsafeenvironment.EvenifprecautionsaretakenthereisalwaysariskofESD

damage.Thedamagecanremainundetectedandcauseproblemsduringthelifetimeoftheeuipment.

Dustcontamination-Openingacameramayexposethelensandsensortodustorpaint.Dustwillaffecttheopticalperformance.

Lensesneedtobedisassembledinadust-freeenvironment,preferablyacleanroom.

Paintoverspray-Maskingthedifferentcomponentsoftheeuipmentiscritical.Failuretomasksensitiveareascancauseproblems

withassemblingtheeuipment.Anyareasthatarenotpaintedatfactoryorhaveadifferentsurfacetreatmentthantherestofthe

parts(threads,groundandelectricalcontactsurfaces)mustalsobemaskedtoensurefunction.

Preparations

•Ifapplicable,disassembletheeuipmentaccordingtotheinstructionsinthisdocument.

•Removegaskets,screws,electricalcomponents,connectorsandplugs,windows,anddomesfromthepartstoberepainted.

•Cleanallpartstoberepaintedthoroughlytoremovegrease,dust,oroil.

•Toensurereassemblyandfunctionalityoftheproduct,maskopeningsforscrews,LEDindicators,ormicrophonesbefore

painting.

Pretreatmentofparts

Dependingonthepartmaterialandtypeofpaintappliedatfactory,differentpretreatmentshouldbedoneforthenewpaintto

adhereaswellaspossible.Cleanthepartsproperlytoremoveoil,greaseanddust.

Formoreinformationonthematerialsusedintheproduct,seeitsdatasheetatwww.axis.com

Powdercoatedparts-Usingnesandpaper,removetheoriginalpowdercoatingdowntothebasematerialandcleantheparts

beforepainting,oruseaprimer.

Anodisedandchromatedparts-Useaprimer.

Uncoatedstainlesssteel-Nospecialpretreatmentisneeded,butmakesurethatthesurfaceiscleanbeforepainting.

Plastic-Useaprimer.

Disassemly

1.Removethedomemoduleassembly(4screws).

2.Removethefourscrewsandseparatethedomemodulebracket,domewithdomemodulesealinganddomecoverring

fromeachother.

3.Loosentheunitassembly(3screws).

4.LifttheunitassemblyupwardsandremovetheconnectorfromthePCBassemblypowerbypullingtheconnectorupwards.

5.Removethepush-pullconnectorhousing(2screws).

6.Removethechassishook(3screws).

7.Removethethreebayonetscrews.

Repainting

1.Maskthetopsurfaceofthechassis.Makesureallscrewholesandtheconnectorareproperlymasked.

2.Masktheentireopeninginthebottomofthechassis.Makesurethatthemaskinglineisclosetotheoriginalpaintborderso

thatnopaintparticlescanreachtheinsideofthecamera.Outlinedrawingoftheopeningcanbefoundonwww.axis.com.

3.Masktheplasticcompassring.

4.Maskthefourthreadedscrewholesonthedomecoverring.

5.Makesureallnecessarypreparationsofthechassisandthedomecoverringhavebeenmade.SeePreparationsonpage3.

6.Applyathinandevenlayerofspraypaintaccordingtotheinstructionsofthepaintmanufacturer.

7.Letthepaintdry.

8.Togetabettercoverageandclearercolor,applyasecondlayerofspraypaint.

9.Whenthepaintisdry,removethemasking.

1.Attachthethreebayonetscrews(1.8Nm).

2.Reassemblethechassishook(3screws,2.4Nm).

3.Reassemblethepush-pullconnectorhousing(3screws,0.3Nm).Makesuretheorientationofthepush-pullconnector

housingiscorrect.Thetwotabsontheinsidecornersshouldbeonthesamesideasthechassishook.

4.AttachtheconnectorfromthePCBassemblypower.

5.Reassembletheunitassembly(3screws,4Nm).

6.Assemblethedomemodulebracket,domewithdomemodulesealinganddomecoverring(4screws,1.2Nm).
