before rst use

Remove all packaging including any soleplate protection before heating the

iron.

Wipe over the soleplate with a cloth moistened with methylated spirit. Remove the

methylated spirit with a damp cloth then dry the soleplate thoroughly.

Fill the water tank and then empty it. This will rinse out any foreign particles remaining in

the water tank from the manufacturing process. Never ll your iron directly under a tap.

Always use the measuring cup supplied.

Before connecting your iron to the mains supply, make sure your supply voltage is the

same as the one indicated on your iron.

When you rst use your iron, there may be a slight odour and it may smoke slightly for the

rst few minutes of operation. This is quite normal and will disappear.

lling your iron

Never use fabric conditioner, starches or any other chemicals or additives.

Ensure the iron is switched off and unplugged from the mains supply socket.

Set the steam control to the no steam position (0).

Place the iron horizontally on a at, stable, dry, heat resistant and level surface and

open the water tank inlet cover.

Using the supplied measuring cup, ll the water tank with ordinary tap water. To avoid

air locks, tilt the iron slightly while lling it.

Don’t ll the iron above the water level indicator MAX marking. Check the water level

by standing the iron on its heel.

When the iron is lled close the water tank inlet cover.

TIP: We recommend that you:

Start with the fabrics to be ironed on a low temperature such as synthetic material.

Finish ironing with those fabrics which respond best to higher temperatures such as

linen.

If you iron a fabric made of a blend of bres; set the temperature control dial for the

most delicate bre.

Never use the burst of steam button on silks or synthetics.

When using starch, it should be sprayed onto the reverse side of the fabric and the

soleplate cleaned more frequently.

Do not iron over sharp or hard objects such as buttons, studs and zippers, as these

will scratch the surface of the soleplate.

using your iron

Ironing without steam

You may see this ‘Do not steam’ symbol on certain delicate fabrics. If you

intend to dry iron fabrics, there is no need to ll the water tank. However, if water is

already in the water tank, you do not need to empty it.

Set the steam control to the no steam position (0).

Plug your iron into the mains supply and switch on.

Set the temperature selector to the required temperature.

The indicator light will illuminate while the iron is heating up.

When the light goes out, your iron is ready to use. The indicator light will continue to

turn on and off during ironing as the iron maintains the soleplate temperature.

Steam ironing

During steam ironing, if you do not allow the iron to reach the selected

temperature water may drip from the soleplate.

It is recommended that for harder to iron fabrics such as cotton and linen, steam should

be used when ironing.

When ironing cotton and linen always select the highest temperature. Steam should

never be used on delicate fabrics like nylons, acrylics and synthetics.

Following the steps on page 4 ll the iron with water.

Plug your iron into the mains supply and switch on.

Turn the temperature selector until the pointer is within the steam setting range.

The indicator light will illuminate. When the indicator light goes out the iron is ready

to use. The indicator light will continue to turn on and off during ironing as the iron

maintains the soleplate temperature.

Adjust the steam control for the desired steam output.

Adjust the steam control lever to the right to increase the amount of steam , or to

the left to decrease the amount of steam .

The iron will automatically begin to steam as soon as the iron is used.

The steam can be shut off at any time by setting the steam control to the no steam

position (0).

Burst of Steam

Note: The temperature selector must be set within the steam setting range (see page

5) when using the shot of steam function. Wait for several seconds between each

press of the steam button.

Press the shot of steam button whenever you have a stubborn crease that needs

extra steam. Steam will burst from the holes in the soleplate into the fabric.

Vertical Steam Ironing

Never iron garments when they are being worn.

Your iron can be used for vertical steam ironing. This process can be applied to

curtains, dresses on hangers etc.

Following the steps on page 4 ll the iron with water.

Plug your iron into the mains supply and switch on.

Turn the temperature selector until the pointer is within the steam setting range. The

hotter the iron, the more steam is generated.

The temperature indicator light will illuminate to show that the iron is heating.

When the indicator light goes out, the iron is ready to use. The indicator light will

cycle on and off during ironing as the iron maintains the soleplate temperature.

Hold the iron 15cm (6 inches) from the fabric.

Press the shot of steam button. The steam will penetrate the fabric removing the

creases. To apply more steam press the shot of steam button again.

Spraying

Note: The spray function will only operate when there is water in the water tank.

The water spray can be used to help iron heavy fabrics or difcult areas (collars,

pockets, sleeves, creases, etc). It can also be used when ironing delicate fabrics

which cannot be steam ironed.

Simply press the spray button as required to emit a spray of water. If the spray is

being used for the rst time, or if the iron has been standing for some time, you

may need to press the spray button a few times to prime the spray before it works

correctly.

using your iron

Note: When the temperature selector is changed from a high setting to a lower

setting during ironing, the indicator light will go out immediately. This indicates that

the iron is cooling to the selected temperature. To ensure that the iron has reached

the selected temperature and is not too hot, wait until the indicator light comes on

again, and then goes out before ironing.

Anti-Drip Function

The supply of water is cut off automatically to avoid any drips from the soleplate

when the temperature of the iron is insufcient to produce steam.

•

Do not use harsh abrasives, chemical cleaners or solvents to clean the exterior

of your iron because they will damage the surface.

Cleaning the Soleplate on your Iron

After each use, allow iron to cool fully before wiping the soleplate with a damp soft cloth.

If polyester has burnt to the soleplate, iron a damp cotton cloth while hot. If necessary,

allow unit to cool fully and wipe over the soleplate with a soft cloth and a small amount of

methylated spirits. Remove the methylated spirit with a damp cloth. Ensure soleplate is

dried thoroughly.

Cleaning the Steam Holes

To remove build-up from the steam holes which may affect steam performance, use a

cotton wool tip moistened in methylated spirits. Wipe over with a damp cloth.

To clean the exterior of your iron, wipe over with a damp soft cloth and wipe dry. Ensure

the soleplate is then dried thoroughly.

Putting your Iron Away

Set the steam control to the no steam position (0).

Turn the power off and remove the plug from the power outlet.

When the soleplate has cooled, empty remaining water from the tank.

Storage

Always store the iron on its heel rest, allowing to cool for 30 minutes.

Do not store the iron with the soleplate facing down, or in the carton.

Do not wrap the cord around the soleplate. The cord can be neatly wrapped around

the heel of the iron.
