About the User Manual
This user manual describes the o eration of the Sa hireTX Transmitter.
The user manual is s lit into two sections.
Section one is the user guide, in which the reader is introduced to the Sa hireTX
Transmitter and its o eration. The various control o tions are described. A guide to
installation of the system is given.
Section two is the technical section, the system s ecifications, dimensions and interfaces
are described.
Warranty and Support
All Broadcast Wireless Systems roducts are su lied as standard with a 12 month ‘Return
to Base’ warranty.

Should the fault ersist or if the su ort team are unable to resolve the fault, it may become
necessary to return the equi ment.
Equi ment should only be returned using the RMA (Returns Management Authorisation)
rocess, users should contact the su ort team on the number above and request an RMA
form and RMA number. Equi ment can then be returned to:

Introduction to the SapphireTX Transmitter
The Sa hireTX camera-back transmitter, integrates a True 4K HEVC encoder with a
COFDM modulator creating a single, slimline ackage, suitable for camera-back mounting
whilst su orting twin SFP cages, thus allowing video in ut in formats of Single 3G-HDSI,
Quad 3G HD-SDI, 12G and Dual 6G (Arri format).
Back to back V Lock or Anton Bauer battery lates facilitate ass-through ower whilst an
additional external ower connector is rovided at the base. Analogue stereo audio in uts
are su orted as well as camera control and Tally interfaces.
Sa hireTX is equi ed with a high-quality, low- latency H.265 (H.264 is also available)
encoder ca able of UHD and HD formats in 10bit 4:2:2 with automatic HDR su ort.
Sa hireTX-D additionally su orts legacy DTC low-latency HD H.264 encoding.
U to 8 stereo airs of audio in either MPEG-1 layer 1, or PCM format (4 stereo airs in
AAC-LC) can be extracted and encoded by The Sa hireTX whilst analogue audio in uts
with ower are included for direct micro hone connection.
Camera control and functionality is accessible through a single colour anel on the side or
using the web browser interface; BWS’ camera control being su orted as standard with the
o tion of future u grade to Bi-directional IP camera control.

Fitting Embrionix SF modules to the SapphireTX
Transmitter
The video in ut to the Sa hireTX requires SFP modules to be fitted. BWS can su ly
these modules at time of ordering or they can be sourced se arately by the customer. BWS
recommends the Embrionix EB12HD2R-MNR-2 module for roviding 3G, 6G and 12G
interfacing o tions.

Modules can be fitted by sliding them carefully into the SFP Cages and ressing gently until
a retaining click is felt.
For 12G and 6G 4K video camera interfacing only a single SFP module need be fitted in
SFP cage 1, equally if HD using 3G SDI is required only a single module is needed in cage
1. For Quad 3G 4K video, two modules must be fitted.

Installing the SapphireTX Transmitter to the Camera
The Sa hire-TX is rovided with front and back battery lates with through ower. The
battery lates can be Anton Bauer or VLock style.
The Sa hireTX is designed to sit between the camera body and the battery, roviding
ower through to the camera. Video from the camera body should be connected to the
a ro riate HD-BNC on the base of the unit, de ending if 12G, Quad HD or single HD are
rovided by the camera.
