READ THIS MANUAL
This manual is provided for the SBDH-200 dehumidifier so the user can gain a thorough
understanding of the proper set-up, operation, and maintenance. This dehumidifier is built around
tested engineering principles and has passed a thorough inspection for quality of workmanship
and function. A thorough understanding of the set-up, operation, and maintenance of this
equipment will allow it to provide maximum performance and reliability.
PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION
The SBDH-200 is a self-contained desiccant dehumidifier designed to efficiently remove water
vapor from the air. A portion of the desiccant rotor is exposed to the “process” air effectively
adsorbing moisture while the second portion of the rotor is exposed to heated “reactivation” air
effectively removing the adsorbed moisture. This process is done on a continuous basis,
providing constant dehumidified process air.
MACHINE SET-UP
-Carefully remove the machine from its shipping crate.
-Thoroughly inspect the machine for shipping damage. Should any damage be found, report the
damage to the freight company immediately. Removal of the side access panel allows for
inspection of the internal components.
-A lifting bar with clevis eyes is provided for safe lifting and handling of this machine. It is
important to ensure the devices connected to the lifting bar are suitable for lifting duty.
-Carefully place the machine on a level surface.
-Connect 4” hoses with 4” standard pipe flanges from the process inlet and outlet to the gear
box.
-Connect an appropriate 460/3/60 power supply (7.5 min. circuit amps) to the machine in
accordance with local codes. A cord grip is provided for installation of a 12 ga. S/O cord on the
side of the machine. The slots in the lifting bar are provided to allow for the cord to be tie wrapped
for transport.
Check to ensure the machine is turned “off” prior to applying power.
Although the power input is 3 phase, it is not necessary to phase the incoming power.
NOTE: This machine is of splash-proof construction for indoor use only.

CONTROLS-OPERATION
Machine operation is fully automatic and requires no adjustments to airflow or other primary
functions. The controls in this machine are UL, C-uL listed and provide for automatic operation
and protection of the electrical components. Access to the control panel is via a hinged access
cover.
A polycarbonate cover is utilized over the control plate. To access controls, loosen both thumb
screws and rotate bottom of cover CCW.
A “ON-OFF” switch is provided for energize the dehumidifier.
A Yellow “POWER” lamp is provided to indicate that power is applied to the machine.
A Green “DEHUMIDIFY” lamp is provided to indicate humidity is above set point, and the
dehumidifier is operational (process fan, reactivation fan and heater, and drive motor are
energized.
A Red “HIGH HUMIDITY” lamp is provided to indicate that the return air humidity is 5% above
set point (factory default, can be adjusted to suit application).
Upon initial start, this lamp may be lit.
A Red “LOW PROCESS AIRFLOW” lamp is provided to indicate that the process air flow is
below set point.
This lamp will be lit when the humidity control set point has been reached.
A Red “LOW REACT AIRFLOW” lamp is provided to indicate that the reactivation air flow is
below set point.
This lamp will be lit when the humidity control set point has been reached.
A digital HUMIDITY CONTROL is provided for automatic control of relative humidity (RH) levels
based on the process inlet (return) air condition. The value shown on the left is the actual value,
the one on the right is the set point. This automatically controls the fans, heater and drive motor
to maintain humidity levels at set point. Once set point has been reached (factory set at +/-2%
hysteresis), the fans, heater and drive motor will shut off. An internal cycle timer will energize the

process fan for 1 minute every 10 minutes to check humidity levels. The control will automatically
restart the dehumidifier is humidity levels are above set point.
An ELAPSED TIME METER is provided to track total operating time in hours.
Air flow is accomplished using a motorized impeller for process and direct drive blower for
reactivation air. Air pressure switches are incorporated to indicate if low air flow conditions exist.
A fractional hp gear motor drives the desiccant rotor.
Self-regulating PTC heater elements provide the “heat source” for reactivation.
Filtration is provided for the process inlet, process outlet, and reactivation inlet air.
MAINTENANCE
This machine is designed for minimal maintenance and years of trouble free service.
All motors and bearings provided are permanently sealed and require no maintenance.
Clean the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth and mild soap if necessary.
DO NOT use a garden hose or pressure washer to clean this machine !
Check to ensure all access panels and covers are in place and secure.
Inspect filters regularly and replace if dirty. Regular air filter maintenance is critical to extending
the life of the desiccant rotor and maintaining moisture removal efficiency.
Keeping filters clean is the most important long term maintenance on this machine !
In dusty or dirty environments, the filter replacement interval will be greatly reduced. A filter
replacement interval should be established to prevent operation with extremely dirty filters.

Process Air Inlet, Process Air Outlet, and Reactivation Air Inlet Filters are all the same two
stage 10 micron / 80micron pleated filters (8H x 10.5W x 7/8).
Access to all 3 filters is via swing plates with retained thumb nuts on the unit service panel.
To remove filters, loosen both thumb screws and back out approximately ¼”.
Pull plate away from panel and swing from bottom counter clockwise until vertical. Slide filter out
from track.
Replace only with the same or equivalent filters.

Process and React Blower
The blowers can be accessed by removing the Service Access Cover(s). No maintenance is
required.
---DISCONNECT POWER BEFORE REMOVING THE ACCESS COVER---

Desiccant Rotor Drive
The rotor drive system consists of a fractional hp gear motor, timing pulley, timing belt, and spring
tensioner. The gear motor is sealed and permanently lubricated. Check the motor fasteners and
timing pulley to be secure. Inspect the timing belt for cracks, tears, or abrasion. The tensioner
should keep slack form the belt with light tension.
Rotor Seals
Periodically inspect the rotor seals for damage, tears, or gaps. Dividing seals will be above and
below the rotor.
Reactivation Electrical Heaters
The heating elements are self regulating PTC type and require no maintenance. Elements can be
accessed through the tall access cover for service or replacement as required.
-DISCONNECT POWER BEFORE REMOVING THIS COVER-

Humidity Sensor
The humidity sensor is equipped with a protective filter to prevent contamination of the sensor.
If excessive dirt builds up on the filter surface, is should be removed, cleaned, and replaced,
Pressure Switches
The pressure switches require no maintenance or adjustment. Check hoses occasionally for kinks, tears, or loose ends.

Data Logger
An optional data logger can be installed in the machine to measure return air conditions. Removal of the gasketed sight
glass exposes a small hook in the top of the opening. Insert the end of the hook through the top mounting hole of the data
logger and re-install the sight glass.
