Presentation
The spray gun is normally used for tasks on small work areas and it is a precision
instrument. To be able to make use of all options, one has to be aware of how the
spray gun is designed and how it should be used and cared for. With correct han-
dling and maintenance it will produce perfect results for a a very long time.

ENGLISH
Connection
The air pressure is adjusted with the oil and water separator. The amount of paint
is adjusted with the adjustment screw on the spray gun.
Look at both the pictures: CORRECT and INCORRECT.
The first condition for achieving good results is that one handles the spray gun cor-
rectly, i.e. do as in the picture CORRECT. Hold the spray gun at right angles to the
surface to be painted and move the gun parallel to it. Begin the sweep before pull-
ing the trigger and release the trigger whilst still moving the gun. That way, one will
have control over both the spray gun and work area.
The distance from the nozzle to the work surface should be between 15 and 5 cm,
depending on the type of paint and the air pressure. The coat of paint should be
even and wet (shiny). Overlap the previous sweep to ensure an absolutely even
finish.
NOTE! To reduce unnecessary paint consumption and for best results, one should
try to use as low an air pressure as possible without sacrificing quality of finish. Use
only your index finger to press the trigger. That way you will have more of a feel for
the spray gun.

Controlling the spray pattern and amount of paint
1. If you widen the spray pattern you must increase the paint feed if you want the
same finish on a longer surface.
. The spray pattern can be changed from horizontal to vertical by tuning the
nozzle and locking it with the knurled retaining ring.
In normal mode the “wings” on the nozzle are horizontal – as
shown in the picture on the right. That way one will get a spray
pattern in the shape of a vertical line, which will give the best
coverage when one sweeps of work area.
Spray painting with a paint cup
Set the pressure to about . bars for varnishes and .1 bars for other types of paint.
Try it. If the layer is too thin, reduce the pressure or open the screw and let in more
paint. If the paint distribution is too bad, reduce the amount of paint. Adjust the width
of the spray pattern and adjust the paint distribution as required.
NOTE! To reduce unnecessary paint consumption and for best results, one should
try to use as low an air pressure as possible without sacrificing quality of finish.
To adjust the spray pattern
Turn right for circles, left for lines.
Paint feed adjuster screw. Turn right to reduce, left to
increase feed.
There are various spray patterns ranging from
circle to line.

Paint patterns – errors, causes, and remedies
A faulty spray pattern is usually due to insufficient cleaning or dried paint around the
end of the nozzle or even in the nozzle itself. Lower these parts into a solvent (paint
thinner) to dissolve the dried paint and then remove it with a brush or cloth.
Spray pattern Cause Remedy
Dried paint on wing A
reduces the air flow.
Stronger air flow on
wing B results in more
paint on blocked side.
Dissolve the paint on
the wings using thinners
and blow dry the gun. Do
not poke metal objects into
the nozzle jets.
Dried paint around the
nozzle jet C produces
an uneven spray
pattern, as shown
on the left.
The same pattern is produced
by a loose air nozzle.
Unscrew the air nozzle and wipe the
paint nozzle with a cloth soaked in
thinners.
Screw the air nozzle back on.
“Two fried eggs”, or a split pat-
tern is usually the result of:
1. Too high air pressure.
2. Too wide spray pattern or
too thin paint flow.
1. Reduce the air pressure.
2. Turn the paint flow adjuster to the
left and the spray pattern adjuster
to the right. The width reduces but
the spray pattern will be correct.
1. Dried gasket round needle
valve. Air entering paint sup-
ply.
2. Intermittent spray pattern
caused by dirt in the valve
or loose nozzle.
3. Loose or faulty bayonet
fastening nut for the paint
supply.
1. Undo the knurled nut E and apply
two drops of machine oil to the
packing. Tighten the nut by hand.
2. Remove the paint
nozzle and clean
the seat with a
thinner-soaked cloth,
replace and tighten
the nozzle again.
3. Tighten the nut, or
replace it if necessary.

Care
1. Only lower the front part until the solvent (paint thinner)
just covers the paint connector.
. Use an appropriate brush and solvent to dislodge any
clogged paint.
. Do not dip the whole spray gun in the solvent because:
a. the leather gasket will dry out;
b. the oil on the areas prone to wear will dissolve and they
will wear out sooner resulting in heavier manoeuvring;
c. solvent residue could clog the narrow air channels inside the gun.
. Dry the outside of the spray gun with cloth moistened with solvent.
5. Lubricate the spray gun daily. Apply ne machine oil to:
a. paint needle packing;
b. air valve packing;
c. packing no. 10 on the exploded view picture;
d. trigger pin bearing;
. Apply Vaseline to the side spring (no.8 on the explode view).
NOTE!
Never use lubricants that contain silicone. This can lead to defects in the finish.
WARNING! Only use the hands when you rst screw on the components of the
spray gun. That way, you do not risk attaching them crooked. If you are not using
hand power: check that you have the correct part, remove the screw, aim again,
and try again. Never use force when screwing together.
Air nozzle, paint nozzle and needle system
1. All nozzles and needles are precision made. Be careful with them.
. Do not change anything on the spray gun with the possible exception of part
no.5. The nish might worsen.
. Immerse all nozzles in solvent to dissolve any left over paint. Then blow them
clean using the air line.
. Do not poke any of the holes with metal objects. If really have to poke in one of
the holes, use a material that is softer than brass.
5. Adjust the needle on the paint valve so that the air stream comes before the
paint when the trigger is pressed.

Things to consider when cleaning the spray gun
After spraying with a paint cup. Remove the paint
cup and immerse the tube in a container of an
appropriate solvent. Press the trigger several
times to thoroughly wash all the channels.
Never clean the paint or air nozzles with metal
tools. These parts are precision made and the
slightest scratch can cause faulty spray patterns.
If either of them is damaged it needs to be
replaced before a correct spray pattern can be
achieved.

The oil and water separator should not be attached onto or close to the com-
pressor. The temperature of the air rises substantially when it is compressed.
When the air cools down to room temperature in the air hose on its way to the spray
gun, the moisture in the air condenses. Therefore, for best results the water separa-
tor should be located where the air is expected to be the coolest.
The air hoses/lines must be installed correctly. Make sure that the lines are
sloping downwards toward the compressor so that the condensed water flows back
to the compressor tank where it can be drained. Every low point in the air line acts
as a water lock. All such low points have to be provided with an easily accessible
tap or plug for draining the condensed water. See picture at top of page.
