Safety
• This kettle can be used by children aged from 8 years and above
if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use
of thekettle in asafe way and if they understand thehazards
involved. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by
children unless they are older than 8 and supervised.
• Keep theappliance and its cord out of reach of children aged
under 8 years.
• Thekettle can be used by persons with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and
knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of thekettle in asafe way and understand
thehazards involved. Neverlet children play with thekettle.
• Check that your power supply is 220–240 V and that
thekettle is connected to anearthed socket.
• Always unplug thekettle from thepower point when it is not
inuse.
• Always unplug thelead from thepower point and let thekettle
cool down properly before cleaning it.
• Do not pull or carry thekettle by themains lead. Donot use
thelead as ahandle or let it get pinched in door jambs.
Donot pull thelead around sharp corners or edges.
• Make sure that thelead does not come in contact with
hot surfaces such as cooker hobs.

• Never immerse thelead, plug, bottom plate or kettle in water
or other liquid. Doingso may increase therisk for electric shock.
• Children who are close by when thekettle is used must be
supervised at all times.
• Certain parts of thekettle become hot during use, only touch
thehandle.
• Never use thekettle if it is damaged or does not work normally.
• Themains lead should be checked regularly. Neveruse thekettle
if themains lead or plug is damaged.
• Themains lead must be changed if damaged. Thisis to
prevent therisk of electric shock or fire and should only be
carried out by themanufacturer, authorised service facility or
aqualified tradesman.
• Thekettle is designed for indoor use only.
• Thekettle should only be used as described in this instruction
manual.
• Thekettle may only be used with thesupplied bottom plate.
• When filling with water, do not exceed themaximum mark.
Ifmore water is filled, hot water may be expelled when heating.
• Note: Makesure that thekettle is on astable, flat surface
before it is turned on.
• Note: Makesure that themains lead, plug and theelectrical
connectors on thebottom plate and thekettle are clean,
intact and dry before thekettle is turned on.
• Note: Ensure that thefilter is fitted correctly and that thelid is
closed properly before thekettle is turned on. Thekettle will
not turn off and there is arisk that hot water can be expelled if
thelid is not closed properly or if thefilter is fitted incorrectly.
• Note: Neverfill thekettle with water when it is positioned
on thebottom plate. Liftthejug and fill carefully with water.
Makesure that thebottom plate and thekettle’s housing are
both completely dry before thekettle is placed on thebottom
plate and is turned on.

• Never fill with water when thekettle is switched on.
• Never use thekettle near anopen fire or hot surfaces.
• Clean thekettle with alightly moistened cloth. Neveruse
solvents or corrosive cleaning products. Useamild cleaning
agent.
• Never heat liquids other than water in thekettle.
• Never touch thekettle while it is switched on. Hotsteam can
cause burn injuries.
• Never leave thekettle unattended and always unplug
themains lead from thewall socket when it is not in use.
• Never use thekettle if you have dropped it or if it has been
damaged in any way.
• Thekettle is only intended for normal household use or in staff
kitchens, hostels, motels, etc.
• Warning: Watermust never come into contact with
thebottom plate.
• Warning: Thereis arisk of personal injury if theinstructions in
this instruction manual are not followed.
• Neither thekettle nor thebottom plate must be immersed in
water when cleaning.
• Note that thebottom plate and certain parts of thekettle are
still hot even after thekettle has been turned off.

Before initial use
Before using thekettle you should boil two kettles of water in it in order to rinse it of
any residue. Never boil thekettle when it contains water mixed with washing-up liquid
or other detergents.
Operating instructions
• Open thelid by pressing in thelatch and fill thekettle with water. Do not fill thejug
above themax level mark.
• Close thelid.
• Connect themains lead to a220–240 V earthed wall socket.
• Place thekettle on thebase and set thepower switch to I. The power indicator
light will come on to indicate that thekettle is switched on.
• Never turn thekettle on when it is empty.
• The kettle turns off automatically and theindicator lamp goes out once thewater
has boiled. The switch will then return to the0position.

Boil-dry protection
If you should turn on thekettle while it is empty theboil-dry protection will activate and
automatically turn off thekettle. Let thekettle cool before attempting to use it again.
Care and maintenance
Always unplug thelead from thepower point and let thekettle cool down properly
before cleaning it. If necessary, theexterior of thekettle can be wiped with alightly
moistened cloth.
Descaling
Due to thenatural occurrence of calcium in water, limescale deposits may form in
thekettle after some use. Limescale deposits might lengthen thetime needed for water
to boil. For descaling you can use amixture of white vinegar and water or aspecial
descaler which can be purchased from well-stocked grocery stores.
1. Mix 100 ml of white vinegar (12 %, not regular vinegar) with 300 ml cold water or
follow thedirections included with thedescaling agent.
2. Pour themixture into thekettle and turn it on. Boil up themixture 2 times, and then
pour it out.
3. In order to remove thelast remnants of limescale and descaling agent, thekettle
should be filled to themax mark with fresh cold water. Turn thekettle on and let it
come to theboil.
4. Pour out thewater and repeat this process 3 times. The kettle is now ready to use again.
The kettle should be descaled after 2–3 months daily use or whenever it has visible
limescale deposits.
Cleaning the filter
Clean thefilter in thespout regularly.
Instructions:
1. Carefully push thetop of thefilter
down so that thesnap lock detaches
from thehousing.
Note: Becareful as theedges of
thefilter bracket are sharp.

2. Remove thefilter and clean it. 3. Replace thefilter, first fit thebottom
and then carefully push into place.
This symbol indicates that this product should not be disposed of with
general household waste. This applies throughout theentire EU. In order
to prevent any harm to theenvironment or health hazards caused by
incorrect waste disposal, theproduct must be handed in for recycling
so that thematerial can be disposed of in aresponsible manner. When
recycling your product, take it to your local collection facility or contact
theplace of purchase. They will ensure that theproduct is disposed of in
anenvironmentally sound manner.
