About This Guide

This guide contains step-by-step instructions

for setting up the D-Link DES-7200 Series

Switch Chassis. Please note that the model

you have purchased may appear slightly

different from those shown in the illustrations.

Please read this manual carefully before using

the product, paying special attention to safety

warnings so as to avoid injury or damage to

equipment.

This manual is intended for users who have

experience in installing and maintaining

network hardware, and assumes that users are

familiar with standard networking terms and

concepts.

Product Overview

D-Link’s DES-7200 series of chassis-based

switches are intelligent and high-performance

multi-layer LAN devices designed for enter-

prise campus and metropolitan area networks

(MAN). They are ideal for deployment in

environments where uninterrupted network

applications and a high level of performance,

security and control are required.

Moving the Device

The DES-7200 is large and heavy. When

handling, please pay close attention to the

following guidelines:

Avoid moving the equipment frequently.-

At least two people are needed to move-

the equipment. Do not attempt to move the

equipment alone.

Turn off all power supplies and unplug all-

power cables before moving the equipment.

Use the side handles to remove all line cards,-

the fan tray, and the power module from the

chassis before moving.

Figure 1. Correctly Moving the DES-7200

WARNING:

Do not move the equipment by

grasping the panel, power supply

handle, or ventilation holes, as they

are not designed to bear weight.

Preparation For Installation

To ensure normal operation and prolonged

life of the DES-7200, the appropriate temper-

ature and humidity must be maintained in the

equipment room.

please conform to the following guidelines:

Be sure to a adequately ground all1.

electronic equipment.

Use appropriate dust prevention measures.2.

Maintain the required humidity in the3.

operating environment.

Always wear an anti-static wrist strap when4.

Note:

All grounding conductors should

be connected before, and discon-

nected after the line and neutral(AC)/

input(DC) conductors.

A minimum of 10mm² (6AWG) of-

conductive grounding should be

provided to the equipment grounding

terminals on the rear panel.

For power supply unit 7200-2000DC,-

a minimum 10mm² (6AWG) of

conductive grounding should be

provided to the input terminal.

For power supply unit 7200-1200DC,-

a minimum 4mm² (10AWG) of

conductive grounding should be

provided to the input terminal.

For power supply unit 7200-2000AC-

and 7200-1200AC, a minimum

2.5mm² (12AWG) of conductive

grounding should be provided to the

input terminal. Note:

The DES-7200 provides 1+1

power supply redundancy. D-Link

recommends the use of multiple

power supplies for the equipment

to ensure continuous and stable

operation. Redundant power helps to

prevent unexpected equipment power

failures. Redundant power supplies

must be identical.
