Digitus DA-70156 Bedienungsanleitung

Convert a

Digitus USB - Serial adapter, USB 2.0

Chipset: FTDI / FT232RL

Into a simple and pricey 1-Wire adapter

Note: I give no guarantee of anything nor for the accuracy of any information provided. I also reject any liability for

damage that may have been caused by use of this document - directly or indirectly.

Open the case and the screws:

Use a knife and open the case gently:

Unsolder the grey wire: take a saw and cut the board here:

Unsolder SP213ECA (RS232 Transceiver). Add a lot of solder to both sides as shown, :

Take a pair of tweezers and heat both sides of the IC in quick succession with the soldering iron until it can be easily

removed.

One may remove the capacitors as show, but it is not necessary. Clean all with desoldering wire and alcohol .

Cut conductor track at red line.

Make a solder bridge as shown (U2 Pins 5,6,7) and connect a wire form there to R2 (CuL).

Turn board around.

Unsolder the Transistor on the backside.

Connect the 2 Pins of Q1 with a wire as shown:

Connect the 1-Wire cable as shown:

Build a strain relief like this:

Add shrinking tube (here transparent)...

Or cut the original case with a saw...

Now the Hard-ware part is done.

Some use may need to invert the TX and RX line of the FTDI chip. This can easily be done bei a Software tool

provided bei FTDI, FT_PROG (http://www.ftdichip.com/Support/Utilities.htm#FT_Prog).

Attention: TX and RX are directly connected. I never had problems with that, but it may eventually damage the chip in

some circumstances. A Resistor in the TX line may be safer.

That's all; may need one hour of work the first time, much less if trained ;)

Caution: I give no guarantee of anything nor for the accuracy of any information provided. I also reject any

liability for damage that may have been caused by use of this document - directly or indirectly.

You may import the following text as xml file into FT-PROG and write it to the device. This will invert the RX

and TX Line in Your 1-Wire Interface.
