2 Method of operation and use
The intermediate position module belongs to
the intermediate position set of pneumatic
slide unit type SLG-... . This also consists of:
– cushioning support type SLG-D-...,
– fastening rail type SLG-S-... and
– intermediate position module type
SLG-Z-... .
The stop lever 2of the intermediate position
module swivels in and out when the pneu
matic connections are pressurized. When it
swivels out, the slide of a linear drive (e.g.
slide unit SLG-...) knocks against the stop on
the stop lever and is therefore in an intermedi
ate position.
A magnet is fastened to the internal double
piston of the intermediate position module.
The position of the piston and thereby the
position of the stop lever (swivelled in or out)
can be scanned by means of proximity
switches in the groove 3of the intermediate
position module.
The intermediate position module has been
designed for cushioning mass forces in a posi
tion between the end positions of linear
drives (e.g. in conjunction with the intermedi
ate position sets with a slide unit type
SLG-...). Within the permitted loading limits,
the intermediate position module also func
tions as a stop.

3 Conditions of use
Please note
Incorrect handling can lead to malfunctioning.
SMake sure that the requirements in this chapter are always observed.
The product will then function correctly and safely.
SCompare the maximum values in these operating instructions with your actual
application (e.g. pressures, impact forces, impact energy, torques, tempera
tures).
The product can only be operated in accordance with the relevant safety guide
lines if the maximum loading limits are observed.
SMake sure there is a supply of correctly
prepared compressed air.
SPlease observe the regulations applicable
to the place of use and comply with
national and local regulations.
SRemove the packing.
The packaging is intended for recycling
(except for oiled paper which must be
disposed of).
STake into account the prevailing ambient
conditions.
SPlease operate the SLG-Z-... in a clean
environment.
If dirt is not removed, the lever may only
swivel with difficulty.
SSlowly pressurize the complete system.
To do this use start-up valve type HEL-... .
SUse the product in its original state. Un
authorized modification is not permitted.

4 Fitting
Fitting mechanical components
Please note
The stop will be damaged if masses strike
it at an angle.
Make sure that the cushioning energy
is always applied vertically, if possible in
the centre of the stop plate 6.
SScrew a connector (see “Accessories”)
into the connector thread 1.
SFasten the support holder type SLG-D-...
as follows:
1. Push cushioning elements (shock ab
sorbers or rubber buffers) into the
cushioning support.
When retrofitting an existing slide unit
type SLG-... , you can use the shock ab
sorbers of the slide unit. Lift these out
with a screwdriver and push them into the
cushioning support (see Fig. 9).

Fig. 9
SLG-Z-...

Both end stops (A) of the SLG-... must
then be removed and fitted again at the
same height in the groove (B) of the
fastening rail.
2. Fasten the cushioning support with cen
tring pins and the fastening screw sup
plied to the slide of the linear drive (e.g.
type SLG-...).
Make sure that the alignment is correct. If
fitted correctly, the cushioning support
will be below the edge of the slide of the
SLG-... (see Fig. 11).
SFasten the fastening rail type SLG-S-... as
follows:
Place the fastening rail type SLG-S-... on
the profiled edge (C), position it with
dowel pins (D) and tighten with screws in
all the fastening holes. The supporting
surface must be level (see operating in
structions for type SLG-...).
The tightening torques are shown in the
table below:

SFasten the intermediate position module type SLG-Z-... as follows:
1. Push the sliding block into the groove (E)
of the fastening rail and screw the two
fastening screws through the intermedi
ate position module into the sliding block.
It should then still be possible to shift the
intermediate position module type
SLG-Z-... .
2. Push the slide of the pressureless linear
drive (e.g. slide unit type SLG-...) by hand
into the intermediate position.
3. Align the intermediate position module in
the direction of the stop and place it in the
toothed profile of the fastening rail (stop
possible from left and from right). The
position of the stop to the mid-position
can then be adjusted by ± 0.75 mm.
The minimum permitted distance X1for
swivelling the stop lever and for the pneu
matic connections X2must be observed
here (see Fig. 17).

Fitting pneumatic components
SConnect the pneumatic tubing 1.
Fitting electric components
Using proximity switches:
SPlace the proximity switches in the groove
3of the intermediate position module
(Fig. 19).
SFasten the proximity switches in the end
positions.
There must be a minimum distance L of
10 mm from ferromagnetic parts.
Fitting control components
Please note
The stop lever can destroy the shock absorber when it moves back.
SMake sure that the slide of the linear drive is outside the swivel range when
the stop lever moves in (e.g. by means of a control delay circuit).
The swivel-in speed of the stop lever exceeds the slide speed of the slide unit
type SLG-... .

5 Commissioning
Please note
Malfunctioning can occur if excessive
loads are applied to the stop lever.
SMake sure that the following points
are always observed:
– The alignment of the stop in
accordance with Fig. 21.
– The stop lever must have sufficient
space to swivel in and out (per-
mitted distances see chapter
“Fitting mechanical components”).
– The stop lever is moved out at the
correct time.
– The slide of the linear drive must be
outside the swivel range of the stop
lever.
Please note
Be careful not to squash your fingers
when the stop lever moves in.
SMake sure that:
– nobody can place his/her hand in
the positioning range of the stop
lever.
– there are no objects in the position-
ing range of the stop lever.
