SystemOverview

ThePMAC3000isamulti‐functionalProcessMonitorAndControlinstrument,designedto

operatewithHITECSensorDevelopmentsautoIDsensors.Model90424hasbeenenhancedto

supportquadratureencoders.ThisfunctionalityissupportedviaautoIDandthirdpartysensor

programming.Foreasyverification,theencoderversionwillshowtheextension“E”whenthe

softwareversionnumberisdisplayedatpowerup.



IfasensorisconnectedtothesensorinputconnectionontherearofthePMAC3000(seeFigure

1),thenextscreenwillbetheSensorCapacityscreen.SeeFigure3.Thisscreendescribesthe

capacityofthesensorinengineeringunits,aswellasifthereisanoptionalencoderinstalled.If

thesensorisaHITECSensorDevelopmentsautoIDsensor,thesensorinformationwillreflectthe

autoIDdata.IfthesensordoesnothavetheautoIDfeatureinstalled,thesensorinformationis

thatofthelastsensorconnected.



Lefttoitself,dependingonthepowerdowntimersetting,thePMAC3000willpowerdownon

itsownwithnoactivity.TheusermayforceapowerdownbypressingandholdingtheONbutton

untilthedisplaysays“Releasebuttontopowerdown.”Thistakesabout2seconds.If,forany

reason,thePMAC3000haslockedup,thedevicemayberesetinthismanneraswell.Inthis

case,however,itmaynotdisplay“Releasebuttontopowerdown.”Justholdthebuttonafew

secondsandreleaseit.



theprocessstartswhenareadingisgreaterthanorequaltotheuserdefinedsensorThreshold

valueandendswhenthereadingstaysbelow80%oftheuserdefinedsensorThresholdvaluefor

morethan100milliseconds.SeeFigures6&7.Upontheexpirationofthe100millisecondtimer,

theprocessisconsideredcompleteandthepeakvaluewillbedisplayed.Also,atthistime,the

limitswillbeevaluatedanddisplayed.Ifthereadingrisesabove80%oftheuserdefinedsensor

Thresholdvaluebeforethe100millisecondtimerhasexpired,theprocessisnotconsidered

completeandwillcontinue.



Note:Oneitemthatcansometimesbeasourceofconfusionisthatthesignandengineering

unitsshownonthedisplayfromthelastcapturedpeakmaynotalwaysmatchthecurrent

settings.Forexample,theusermayhavebeenrecording+/‐PeakinNmandthelastpeak

recordedmaybeanegativevalueinNm.Theusermaydecidetochangethemodeto+Peakand

theengineeringunitstoinlb.Uponexitingthemenu,thedisplaywillshowthelastacquired

peak,whichwasanegativevalueinNm.Thismayconfusetheuserastheusermaybeexpecting



toseeapositivevalueininlb.Thedisplayisunchangedfrombeforebecausethedisplayis

TheRecordfunctionssamplethesensoratarateof10,000readings/second.Thesamplerateis

userselectabledownto1reading/second.Inthecaseofanysampleratelowerthan10,000

readings/second,thePMAC3000willstillsampleatthe10,000readings/secondandwillaverage

thereadingstoproducetheuserselectedsamplerate.



InAutoRecord,theprocessstartswhenareadingisgreaterthanorequaltotheuserdefined

sensorThresholdvalueandendswhenthereadingstaysbelow80%oftheuserdefinedsensor

Thresholdvalueformorethan100milliseconds.Upontheexpirationofthe100millisecond

timer,theprocessisconsideredcompleteandthedisplaywillshowanindicationthatrecording

hasended.Ifthereadingrisesabove80%oftheuserdefinedsensorThresholdvaluebeforethe

100millisecondtimerhasexpired,theprocessisnotconsideredcompleteandrecordingwill

continue.TheuserdefinedsensorThresholdisevaluatedwithrespecttotheabsolutevalueof

thereading,sothatthesignofthereadingdoesnotplayapartintheevaluation.



sharedwiththePeakfunctions,soifanypeaksarestoredinmemory,theymayreducethe

storagecapacityforrecordings.Inthiscase,storagecapacitycanbeincreasedbyerasingpeak

readings.


