CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Your Honeywell Steel Fire Safe will provide years of safe and secure protection

for your valuables, important documents and other personal items. All

Honeywell safes are designed and built using the highest manufacturing

standards to ensure maximum user satisfaction under a variety of conditions.

With proper care, your Honeywell safe will provide “Peace of Mind” for many

years to come.

WELCOME

Honeywell Steel Fire Safes are designed to protect important documents, digital

media ﬁles and other valuables from theft and tampering as well as damage

from the exposure to ﬁre.

Theft Protection

A Programmable Digital Lock, Steel Locking Door Bolts and Insulated Steel

Double Walls.

Fire Protection

Independent testing veriﬁed the interior temperature remains below 350º F

(177ºC) when the exterior temperature is up to 1400º F (760ºC) for 2 hours.

Water Resistant Protection

Honeywell Steel Fire Safes are designed to protect the safe contents from any

water damage that could occur from incidental water spray from ﬁre sprinklers

and hoses.

When properly maintained, your safe will continue to operate for many years. In

order to ensure optimum performance of your safe, please follow these simple

precautions:

Clean Hands

Never attempt to operate the digital keypad if your hands have excessive dirt,

debris or liquids on them.

Clean Safe

To clean the surface of your safe, it is recommended that you use a mild cleaner

(e.g., window cleaner) to avoid scratching or discoloring the surface. Always wipe

dry and NEVER use abrasive cleansers on the safe or digital keypad.

Moisture

We recommend that you place delicate items such as important documents

pictures or intricate jewelry into an air-tight container before storing them in

your safe. Avoid placing your safe in areas of high humidity.

MOVING YOUR SAFE

PLACEMENT OF SAFE

Before moving your safe, verify the load bearing weight of the ﬂoors and stairs,

and types of ﬂooring the safe will be moved over (tile, wood, and other ﬂooring

can be damaged by the weight of the safe).

Proper installation and anchoring are critical to the security of your safe. Install

near a load-bearing wall to support the weight of the safe. To help protect the

exterior ﬁnish of your safe, install inside in a dry location where there is climate

control (heat in the winter and cooling in the summer). This safe has been de-

signed to withstand a certain amount of heat during a ﬁre. Generally speaking,

ﬁre safes perform better in lower levels of a home (like the basement) where ﬁre

temperatures are lower. Additionally, placement of your safe away from potential

hot spots (areas where ﬂammable materials are stored) will improve your

chances that your safe and its contents will perform better in a home ﬁre. No

safe is completely ﬁreproof. If the ﬁre reaches a high enough temperature for

long periods, ﬁre damage will occur.

INSTALL BATTERIES

The batteries must be installed before using your safe.

If the batteries are removed or fail, the keypad memory will NOT be erased

and the active programmed code will still work once power has been restored.

REPLACE BATTERIES

Weak or dead batteries should be

replaced immediately and all 4

batteries should be changed. To replace

the batteries, please follow the

instructions in STEP 1. in the “INSTALL

BATTERIES” section. Remember to

always remove batteries from safe if not

using for an extended period of time. If

your batteries are completely dead and

you cannot open the safe by using the

digital keypad, use the override access

key to open safe.

NOTE: It is NOT RECOMMENDED to use

Non-alkaline or rechargeable batteries.

1. Remove the battery compartment

cover located on the right side of

the control panel by pushing in

and to the right.

2. Insert 4 “AA” batteries. Ensure the

batteries are installed in the

correct direction, with regard to

polarity (+ and -).

3. If the batteries are put in correctly,

the safe will beep and the LCD

readout will ﬂash, then it will read

“GOOD”

4. Once the batteries are properly

installed, replace the battery

compartment cover.

SET CALENDAR AND CLOCK

Once batteries are installed and the control pad is powered, the next step is to

begin by programming the clock and calendar. READ ENTIRE DIRECTIONS

AND WRITE DOWN DATE/DAY/TIME BEFORE PROGRAMMING. NOTE: You

must enter all information without delays. If the light goes off, you must begin

programming again.

When correctly entered, the LCD readout

will stop glowing and should display the

information you just programmed.

1. With the safe door closed and locked,

press the “ ” key followed by the “9” key.

The LCD readout will glow amber.

2. Enter the Year – 2 Digits

3. Enter the Month – 2 Digits

4. Enter the Date – 2 Digits

5. Enter the Day – 1 Digit (see chart below)

6. Enter the Hour – 2 Digits (see chart below)

7. Enter the Minutes – 2 Digits

UNLOCK AND OPEN SAFE

CLOSE AND LOCK SAFE

This safe is equipped with a dual digital/key lock system that requires

entering an active user code to unlock and an entry key to open. It

allows for two separate reprogrammable active user codes.

The preset factory user codes are “1 2 3 4” and “1 2 3 4 5 6”.

1. Begin by inserting the entry key

into the cylindrical key hole on the

left side of the control panel.

2. On the keypad enter the

“#” key, then the user code “1 2 3

4”, followed by “#” key again.

3. If correct code is entered, OPEN

will appear on the LCD panel, and

you’ll hear a chime tone indicating

the safe is unlocked.

4. Within 5 seconds, turn the key to

the left counterclockwise.

5. Within 5 seconds, turn the handle

upwards to the right (clockwise)

and pull the door open.

Carefully close the door, turn the key

clockwise to the right and remove.

The safe is now locked and an active user

code will need to be re-entered to open.

PROGRAM NEW USER CODES

OPEN SAFE WITH NEW USER CODES

SECURITY NOTE: To insure privacy, this procedure should be repeated for both

of the factory pre-set codes

Repeat this process to reprogram the second factory pre-set code.

Your new code is now ready to use and the previous code is erased from

memory. If you wish to change your new code, simply repeat the process

with current active user code(s) and enter new code(s).

1. Unlock the safe with the ﬁrst

factory pre-set (or current

active) code.

2. If correct code is entered, “OPEN”

will appear on the LCD panel, and

you will hear a chime tone

indicating the safe is unlocked.

3. Immediately enter “ ” then a new

48 digit code followed by the “#”

key. (if you use an 8-digit code,

you will not need to enter the “#”

key after.

4. If entered correctly, “IN” will appear

on blue display followed by a chime

and the new code number will

appear for 1 second.

Repeat the process described in STEP 3: UNLOCK AND OPEN SAFE,

substituting the new user code(s) for the factory preset user code(s)

INCORRECT CODE ENTRY

If an incorrect code is entered, the word

“ERROR” will appear on the digital readout

and an alert tone will sound. At this time,

re-enter the correct code.

SECURITY ALARM

This safe is equipped with a security alarm.

To activate alarm, press “0” with door closed.

Display will read “ALERTON”.

The alarm will sound whenever:

• Thewrongcodeisentered3ormoretimestogainentry

• Thesafeisshakenorexperiencesforcefulimpact.

To de-activate alarm or turn off alarm siren, enter an active user code.

Alarm should be reset after deactivating.

During the 1st minute, the siren sound

can be stopped if correct code is entered,

if no action or another three (3) incorrect

codes are entered during the 1st minute

the system will enter into lockout mode

(5 minutes). If another 3 incorrect codes

are entered after the ﬁrst lockout period,

the siren will sound for 1 minute before

entering the 2nd phrase of 15-minute

lockout period.

During the lockout period, if battery is

removed the system will enter 15-minute

lockout period

SECURITY LOCKOUT PERIOD

If an incorrect code is entered, the word “ERROR” will appear on the digital

readout and an alert tone will sound. At this time, re-enter the correct code.

PRIVACY MODE

If you wish to prevent your personal code

from being read on the digital readout, it

can be hidden from view by inserting the

“ ” after “#”.

Example: “# 1 2 3 4 #”.
