General information concerning use:

The residual force due to the impact depends on the

weight and the height of fall. The energy absorber

is manufactured so that the forces generated by the

shock are less than the thresholds, that is 6 kN.

The maximum length of an Automatic Retracting Fall

Arrester is 2.70m, including all the karabiners, and it

must not be lengthened.

The product can be used as temperatures induded

between -30°C and +50°C.

Allow for the fall factors:

Depending on the position of the anchorage points, a

distinction is made between 3 fall factors:

- At fall factor 0, the anchorage point is above the

user.

- At fall factor 1, the anchorage point is level with

the shoulders of the user.

- At a fall factor 2, the anchorage point is at the

feet of the user

Work carried out with a fall factor of 2 is

particularly dangerous and should be avoided,

if possible choosing an anchorage point

located higher up (see ﬁgure 2).

Swinging risk:

When the fall arrester enters into action, to avoid

injury due to impact, for instance against the building,

whenever possible choose an anchorage point loca-

ted vertically above the user (see ﬁgure 4)

Break-tested against an edge:

Resistance of the energy absorbing lanyard has also

been tested using a 100 kg mass on a metallic edge

with a radius of 0.5 mm. Four diﬀerent tests were

conducted:

- fall from a height of 1.5 m (perpendicular to the

edge) with the shock impact measured at <6kN

- fall from a height of 1.5 m with lateral oﬀset of 1.5

m in relation to the axis (pendulum eﬀect) with the

shock impact measured at <6kN

- fall from a height of 2 m from the axis (perpendicular

to the edge) to test the resistance

- fall from a height of 2 m with lateral oﬀset of 1.5 m

in relation to the axis (pendulum eﬀect) to test the

resistance

The clearance under the edge must be at least 6.75 m.

If the Automatic Retractable Fall Arrester equipped

with an anchoring device in class C according to

standard EN 795 is used, it is also necessary to allow

for the reﬂection of the horizontal work positioning

support to calculate the clearance needed beneath

the user.

Remember that even if the personal fall protection

system is used in a conforming manner, falling over an

edge is liable to cause an injury (for instance, by im-

pact against part of the structure, against scaﬀolding

tubes or against any other sharp edges).

Rescue :

After an accident, rescue must take place within

20 minutes (trauma from suspension). The rescue

equipment and devices (for instance, descending

cables) must be operational and procedures suitable

for rescuing the users must be deﬁned.

Users must have been given proper training about

use. The operating capacity of the rescue equipment

shall be the subject of regular checks. Rescue pro-

cedures require regular practice.

Généralités concernant l’utilisation :

La force résiduelle due au choc dépend du poids et

de la hauteur de chute. L’absorbeur d’énergie est

fabriqué de façon que les forces générées par le choc

soient inférieures aux seuils, soit 6kN.

La longueur maximale d’une longe à absorbeur

d’énergie intégré est de 2 m, y compris tous les mous-

quetons, et il ne faut pas la rallonger.

Le produit est utilisable à des températures comprises

entre -30°C et +50°C.

Tenez compte des facteurs de chute :

Selon la position du point d’ancrage, on fait la distinc-

tion entre 3 facteurs de chute :

- Au facteur de chute 0, le point d’ancrage se

trouve au-dessus de l’utilisateur.

- Au facteur de chute 1, le point d’ancrage se

trouve à la hauteur des épaules de l’utilisateur.

- Au facteur de chute 2, le point d’ancrage se

trouve aux pieds de l’utilisateur.

Les travaux eﬀectués avec le facteur de chute

2 sont particulièrement dangereux et il faut

les éviter en choisissant si possible un point

d’ancrage situé plus haut (voir la ﬁgure 2).

Après un accident, le sauvetage doit avoir lieu dans

un délai de 20 minutes (traumatisme de suspension).

Les équipements de sauvetage et dispositifs (câbles

de descente par exemple) doivent être opérationnels

et des procédures adaptées de sauvetage des utilisa-

teurs doivent être déﬁnies.

Les utilisateurs doivent avoir reçu une formation

à l’utilisation. La capacité de fonctionnement des

équipements de sauvetage doit faire l’objet de véri-

ﬁcations régulières. La réalisation de sauvetages doit

faire l’objet d’exercices pratiques réguliers.

Risque de balancement :

Lors de la mise en action de l’antichute, pour éviter

les blessures dues aux chocs par exemple contre des

parties du bâtiment, il faut autant que possible choisir

le point d’ancrage dans l’axe vertical au-dessus de

l’utilisateur (voir la ﬁgure 4).

-Resistance à la rupture testée sur arête:

La résistance de la longe à absorbeur d’énergie a été

également testée suivant une procedure d’essais

utilisant une masse de 100kg sur une arête métallique

ayant un rayon de 0.5mm. 4 tests diﬀérents ont été

réalisés, à savoir:

- chute d’une hauteur 1.5m dans l’axe (perpendicu-

laire à l’arête) avec mesure de l’impact d’arrêt <6kN

- chute d’une hauteur 1.5m avec déport latéral de

1.5m par rapport à l’axe (eﬀet pendulaire) avec me-

sure de l’impact d’arrêt <6kN

- chute d’une hauteur 2m dans l’axe (perpendiculaire

à l’arête) pour valider la résistance

- chute d’une hauteur 2m avec déport latéral de 1.5m

par rapport à l’axe (eﬀet pendulaire) pour valider la

résistance.

Le dégagement nécessaire sous l’arête doit être : (voir

la ﬁgure 3).

Si la longe à absorbeur d’énergie intégré, dotée d’un

dispositif d’ancrage de classe C selon la norme EN

795, est utilisée, il faut également tenir compte de

la déﬂexion du support d’assurage horizontal pour

calculer l’espace libre nécessaire sous l’utilisateur.

N’oubliez pas que même en cas d’utilisation conforme

du système de protection individuelle contre les

chutes, une chute par dessus une arête génère un

risque de blessure (par exemple en cas de choc sur

des partie de l’ouvrage, sur des tubes de l’échafau-

dage et sur d’autres arêtes parasites).
