ENGLISH

1. Main Features

The PS series amplifiers are high quality and performance amplifiers. To get the maximum

result, it features a servo system, power supply and a fan with adjusted speed.

The main features include:

• XLR and 1/4’ jack balanced input

• Input sensitivity switch

• Output: Speacon and speaker terminals

• Stereo, bridge and parallel switch

• Soft start

• Perfect protection system for the speakers

• Thermal cut off (85°C protection)

• Current limiter

2. Precautions

• Use an adequate power source.

• Do not turn on several amplifiers at the same time.

• Do not allow that the ventilation holes in the front or in the back of the amplifier are

blocked in any way.

• Input level controls are present on each channel.

• Output can use speacon or binding posts.

• Please check carefully if the mode switch is in the correct position: stereo,

bridge or parallel.

• Clean the amplifier regularly. Especially the dustfilters located behind the front panel

should be cleaned regularly.

• Use a vacuumcleaner to remove dust inside the amplifier. Never use water.

• In case of a defect, contact your dealer.

3. Major Operation Controls

A. Front Panel

1. Power ON/OFF

With this switch, you turn the amplifier on. You will note a brief delay in the switching on,

due to the soft start.

2/3. Input Level Control

With these rotary VR’s, you can adjust the input level of each side.

In bridge or parallel mode, only the left VR is active.

4. Power ON Indicator (green)

Indicates that the amplifier is on.

5. Bridge Mode Indicator (green)

Indicates that the amplifier is working in bridge mode. In this case only the left channel

needs an input signal.

6. Parallel Mode Inidicator (green)

Indicates that the amplifier is running in parallel mode. The input signal must only be

applied to the left channel.

7/8. Protection LED (yellow)

The leds light up when the amplifier is overheated (thermal protection) or when

something is wrong with the amplifier.

9/10. Peak Level (clip) Indicator (red)

These leds will light up in two situations:

a. When the output signal has reached its maximum level, the LED will light. This goes

with a distortion of the audio signal. When this occurs, reduce the input level.

b. When you have an input signal and the clip led lights continuously, it means that

you have a short circuit on the output. Please turn of the amplifier and check out

the problem on the load.

B. Rear Panel

1/5. 1/4' Jack Input Connectors

You can use a balanced or unbalanced input signal.

• Unbalanced: use a mono jack. Tip=signal, Sleeve=ground.

• Balanced: use a stereo jack. Tip=signal+, Ring=signal-, Sleeve=ground.

2/4. XLR Input Connectors

You can use a balanced or unbalanced input signal.

• Unbalanced: Pin 1=ground, Pin 2=signal, Pin 3=ground=pin 1.

• Balanced: Pin 1=ground, Pin 2=signal+, Pin 3=signal-.

3. Input Sensitivity Switch

The position of this switch is very important and depends on the output level of your

preamplifier. There are 3 positions:

• Full power output at 0,77V input level

• 26 dB gain of the input signal

• Full power output at 1,4V input level. Use this position with JBSystems mixers.

6. Mode Selector

You can select between stereo mode, bridge mode or parallel mode.

• When you use stereo mode, you have to connect the input and output of both

channels.

• When you use bridge mode, the input signal must be applied to the left channel

only.

• When you use parallel mode, the input signal must be applied to the left channel

only.

7. Ground Lift Switch

Setting this switch to the position “left” breaks the ground loop between the amplifier and

the chassis ground of various components.

8/11. Speacon Output

When you work in stereo mode, you can use the speacon for connecting your speakers.

The connections are:

1+ and 2+ : signal

1- and 2- : ground

9/10. Binding Posts

In stereo mode:

Red = signal

Black = ground

12. Power Cord Socket and Fuse

When the fuse is broken, replace by the same type and value.

4. Operation in bridge mode and parallel mode

A. Bridge Mode

• Turn the amplifier off

• Connect the input to CH1 (left) only

• Connect your speaker system across the red terminals

Red terminal CH1: signal +

Red terminal CH2: signal – (ground)

• The minimum impedance of your speaker system should be 8 Ohm

• Set the mode switch on BRIDGE

• Turn the amplifier on

B. Parallel Mode

• Turn the amplifier off

• Connect the input to CH1 (left) only

• Connect your speakers in the normal way, as you should do in stereo mode

• Set the mode switch on PARALLEL

• Turn on the amplifier

FRANÇAIS

1. Caractéristiques principales

Les amplificateurs de la "C2 Series" sont de très haute qualité et assurent de très bonnes

performances. Afin d’en retirer les meilleurs résultats, ils sont équipés d’un "servo system

power supply" et d’un ventilateur avec réglage de vitesse.

En voici les principales fonctions :

• Entrées balancées avec XLR et jack 1/4’

• Sélecteur de sensibilité d’entrée

• Sorties avec borniers ou speacon

• Interrupteur 3 modes: stéréo, mono (BRIDGE) ou parallèle

• Circuit de retardement à l’allumage

• Parfait système de protection pour les haut-parleurs

• Protection thermique (si la température est supérieure à 85°)

• Limitateur de courant

2. Précautions

• Utiliser une source de courant adéquate.

• Eviter d’allumer plusieurs amplificateurs simultanément.

• N’obstruer les trous de ventilation en aucun cas.

• Un réglage du niveau d’entrée est présent sur chaque canal.

• Sorties prévues avec speacon ou borniers.

• Bien vérifier que l’interrupteur de mode est correctement positionné: stéréo,

o Bridge ou parallèle.

• Nettoyer régulièrement l’amplificateur. Les filtres anti-poussière situés derrière la

face avant doivent être nettoyés souvent.

• Pour ce faire, utiliser un aspirateur. Ne jamais utiliser d’eau.

• En cas de défectuosité, mettez-vous en contact avec votre revendeur.

3. Principales fonctions et contrôles

A. Face avant

1. Interrupteur ON/OFF

Ce bouton permet d’allumer l’amplificateur. Un retard à l’allumage sera constaté, il est du

au système "soft start".

2 y 3. Contrôle du niveau d’entrée

Grâce à ces potentiomètres, vous pouvez ajuster le niveau d’entrée de chaque coté. En

mode Bridge ou parallèle, seul le potentiomètre gauche est actif.

4. Indicateur Power ON (vert)

Indique que l’amplificateur est allumé.

5. Indicateur de mode Bridge (mono) (vert)

Indique que l’amplificateur travaille en mode . dans ce cas, seul le canal gauche nécessite

un signal d’entrée.

6. Indicateur de mode parallèle (vert)

Indique que l’amplificateur travaille en mode . Le signal d’entrée sera donc uniquement

appliqué au canal gauche.

7 y 8. Led de protection (jaune)

Se Led s’allume en cas de défectuosité ou lorsque la température est supérieure à 85°.

9 y 10. Led (Clip) du niveau maximum (rouge)

Ce Led s’allume dans deux cas :

a. Lorsque le signal de sortie atteint son niveau maximum, le Led s’allume. ceci est

accompagné d’une distorsion du signal audio. Si ceci survient, réduisez le niveau

d’entrée.

b. Si le Led s’allume de manière continue, cela signifie qu’il y a un court-circuit.

Eteindre l’amplificateur et rechercher les causes du problème dans les connexions.

B. Panneau arrière

1 y 5. Entrées avec jack 1/4'

Vous pouvez utiliser un signal d’entrée balancé ou non balancé.

• Non balancé : utiliser un jack mono. Tip = signal, Sleeve = masse

• Balancé: utiliser un jack stéréo. Tip = signal +, Ring = signal –, Sleeve = masse

2 y 4. Entrées avec XLR

Vous pouvez utiliser un signal d’entrée balancé ou non balancé.

• Non balancé: Pin1 = masse, Pin2 = signal, Pin3 = masse

• Balancé: Pin1 = masse, Pin2 = signal +, Pin3 = signal -

3. Sélecteur de sensibilité d’entrée

La position de cet interrupteur est très importante et dépend du niveau de sortie du

préamplificateur.

Il existe 3 positions :

• Puissance totale de sortie à 0.77V de niveau d’entrée

• 26 dB de gain du niveau d’entrée

• Puissance totale de sortie à 1.4V de niveau d’entrée. Utiliser cette position avec les

tables de mixage JB Systems.

6. Sélecteur de mode

Trois modes sont possibles : stéréo, mono "BRIDGE" ou parallèle.

• En mode stéréo, connecter l’entrée et la sortie des 2 canaux.

• En mode Bridge, le signal d’entrée doit uniquement être appliqué au canal gauche.

• En mode parallèle, le signal d’entrée doit uniquement être appliqué au canal gauche.

7. Interrupteur de mise à la terre

La position "lift", permet de couper la terre entre l’amplificateur et les châssis des autres

composants (suppression de boucles de terre).

8 y 11. Sortie avec Speacon

En mode stéréo, vous pouvez utiliser des Speacon pour connecter vos haut-parleurs.

Les connexions sont :

1+ et 2+: signal

1- et 2-: masse

9 y 10. Bornes altavoz

En mode stéréo :

Rouge = signal

Noir = masse

12. Prise de courant et fusible

Si le fusible est cassé, changer celui-ci par un nouveau de même type et valeur.

4. Opération en mode Bridge et parallèle

A. Mode Bridge

• Eteindre l’amplificateur

• Connecter l’entrée sur le canal 1 (gche) uniquement.

• Connecter le haut-parleur entre les borniers rouges (impédance minimale 8 ohm):

Bornier rouge canal 1 : signal +

Bornier rouge canal 2 : signal – (masse)

• Mettre l’interrupteur de mode sur la position BRIDGE

• Allumer l’amplificateur

B. Mode parallèle

• Eteindre l’amplificateur

• Connecter l’entrée sur le canal 1 (gche) uniquement.

• Connecter les haut-parleurs de manière habituelle (comme si c’était en mode

stéréo):

• Mettre l’interrupteur de mode sur la position Parallèle

• Allumer l’amplificateur
