exact wording and requirements, and to comply with

the requirements. Nor shall the listing of these re-

quirements constitute an assumption of responsibility

of liability on the part of JLG Industries, Inc.

permitted to operate the aerial lift.

A malfunctioning lift shall be shut down until

repaired.

The controls shall be plainly marked

to their

function.

5. Load limits specified by the manufacturershall

not be exceeded.

Instruction and warning placards must be leg-

INTRODUCTION-

MAINTENANCE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS JLG Lift

A. GENERAL

This section contains the general safety precautions

which must

observed during maintenance of the

aerial platform. It is of utmost importancethat mainte-

nance personnel pay strict attention to these warn-

ings and precautions to avoid possible injuryto them-

selves or others or damage to the equipment. A

maintenance program must be established by a

qualified person and must

followed to ensure that

the machine is safe to operate.

A WARNING

MODIFICATION OF THE MACHINE WITHOUT CER-

TIFICATION

A RESPONSIBLE AUTHORITY

THAT THE MACHINE

LEAST AS SAFE AS

ORIGINALLY MANUFACTURED

A SAFETY VIO-

LATION.

The specific precautions to be observed during ma-

chine maintenance are inserted at the appropriate

point

the manual. These precautions are, for the

most part, those that apply when servicing hydraulic

and larger machine component parts.

Your safety, and that of others, is the first considera-

tion when engaging

the maintenance of equip-

ment. Always

conscious ofcomponent weight and

never attempt to move heavy parts without the

aid

a mechanical device.

not allow heavy objects

rest in

unstable position. When raising a portion of

the equipment, ensure that adequate support is pro-

vided. A WARNING

SINCE THE MACHINE MANUFACTURER HAS

DIRECT CONTROL OVER THE FIELD INSPECTION

AND MAINTENANCE, SAFETY

THISAREA

THE

RESPONSIBILITY OF THE OWNER/OPERATOR.

B. HYDRAULIC SYSTEM SAFETY

It should

particularly noted that the ma-

chines hydraulic systems operate at extremely

high and potentially dangerous pressures.

Every effort should

made to relieve any

system pressure prior to disconnecting or

re-

moving any portion of the system.

2. Relieve system pressure by activating the lift

DOWN control with the platform completely

lowered to direct any line pressure back into

the return line to the reservoir. Pressure feed

lines to system components can then

dis-

connected with minimal fluid loss.

MAINTENANCE

A WARNING

TIONS LISTED
