APPLICATION

The low ambie t pressure switch (S11) cycles the

outdoor fa while allowi g compressor operatio i the

cooli g cycle. This i termitte t fa operatio results i

a high evaporati g temperature which allows the

system to operate without ici g the evaporator coil a d

losi g capacity. This kit is desig ed for use i ambie t

temperatures o lower tha 30°F.

Le ox recomme ds a belly-ba d style cra kcase heater

(P-8-8852, 240v, 45w) be added to compressors which

do ot have o e. A freezestat (LB-62858CA) should also

be added to a y system usi g a low ambie t kit.

NOTE - Do not use this low ambient kit on units with

capillar tube metering devices. Install an expansion

valve metering device if using this kit.

INSTALLATION

A-Pressure Switch Assembly

1- Disco ect power to u it.

2- Remove compressor compartme t access pa el.

3- I stall valve depressor tee discharge li e gauge port.

4- I stall pressure switch i compressor compartme t

with screws provided. Switch should be i stalled i a

vertical positio higher tha mid-poi t of compressor.

See figure 1.

Depressor tee port with valve core is used as

service port. If ecessary, valve core ca be moved

to other leg of tee.

B-Low Ambient Pressure Switch Setting (S11)

O e of two types of pressure switches are provided. The

Ra co switch has o e square a d o e rou d adjustme t

k ob a d the Alco switch has two square adjustme t

k obs.

R nco Model

The low ambie t pressure switch provided i the kit is

factory set for 285 psig (1965 kPa) cut-i a d 140 psig

(965 kPa) cut-out.

If ecessary, adjust low ambie t pressure switch as

follows:

1-Rotate rou d k ob to set cut-i pressure. Refer to right

set of i dicati g umbers o face of co trol. See

figure 3.

2- Rotate square k ob to set differe tial i dicator to 145

psig (999 kPa). Refer to left set of i dicati g umbers.

Alco Model

If ecessary, adjust low ambie t pressure switch as

follows:

1-Rotate the square k ob located o the left to set cut-i

pressure. Refer to left set of i dicati g umbers o

face of co trol. See figure 2.

2- Rotate the square k ob located o the right to set

differe tial i dicator to 145 psig (999 kPa). Refer to

right set of i dicati g umbers.

3- Use o ly termi als 1 a d 4 whe co ecti g wiri g.

NOTE - Disregard Cut out minus Diff. is Cut In"

statement on face of control. This does not appl in this

application.
