The dispensing module is an external dispensing system that is inten-
ded solely for connection to Miele cleaning machines. It dispenses li-
quid process chemicals (cleaning agent, disinfection solution, neutral-
ising agent or rinsing agent, for example) automatically at the appro-
priate stage of a programme. The dispensing module does away with
the need to fill the dispenser containers in the door of the machine (if
there are any). Up to two external dispensing systems can be con-
nected depending on the type of machine.
Suitable process chemicals are available from Miele Professional.
Dispensing modules can be retrofitted and connected if required.
Risk posed by conversions or modifications
Please note that the K85 dispensing module must only be used for
applications described in these instructions.
Any other use, conversion or modification is not permitted and po-
tentially dangerous.
Miele cannot be held liable for damage resulting from incorrect or
improper use or operation.
Initial commissioning will be undertaken by the Miele Customer
Service Department or authorised service technicians, who will
provide you with operating instructions.
Please follow the operating instructions for your cleaning machine
and pay particular attention to warning and safety instructions
when using and handling chemical agents.
Damage caused by noncompliance with the fitting instructions.
Please read these fitting instructions carefully before fitting the dis-
pensing module.
This prevents both personal injury and damage to the dispensing
module.
Keep these fitting instructions in a safe place.

Disposal of the packing material
The packaging is designed to protect against transportation damage.
The packaging materials used are selected from materials which are
environmentally friendly for disposal and should be recycled.
Recycling the packaging reduces the use of raw materials in the
manufacturing process and also reduces the amount of waste in
landfill sites.
Disposing of your old machine
Electrical and electronic machines often contain valuable materials.
They also contain materials which, if handled or disposed of incor-
rectly, could be potentially hazardous to human health and to the en-
vironment. They are, however, essential for the correct functioning of
your machine. Please do not therefore dispose of it with your house-
hold waste.
Please dispose of it at your local community waste collection / recyc-
ling centre or contact your dealer for advice.
Ensure that it presents no danger to children while being stored for
disposal.

Dispensing problems caused by fitting the canister incorrectly.
The canister must not be placed on top of or above the machine.
Make sure that the dispensing hose is not kinked or trapped.
Place the canister on the floor next to the machine or inside an ad-
jacent unit.
Fitting the dispensing module
The dispensing module is supplied with two screws (4.2x25mm)
and two plugs (6mm) for fitting.
Select a suitably accessible position, e.g. on an adjacent wall or in-
side a unit, for fitting the dispensing module.
Wall
mounted:
Using the drawing as a guide, fit the screws the correct distance
apart (80.0mm) and suspend the dispensing module from these.
Surface
mounted:
Two slots 76.0mm apart are provided at the bottom of the dispensing
module for fixing the module to a thin carrier or plate. Screws 3.9mm
in diameter (not supplied) are required to secure the module.
Drill two holes through the plate and screw the module firmly in
place from underneath.

an adjacent unit:
If more than one dispensing module is being used, or if the liquid
agent canisters are to be stored with the module, a suitable unit is
available from Miele.
Make sure hoses are laid without kinks.

Connecting the dispensing module to the cleaning ma-
chine
Flowmeter
The K85 dispensing module is supplied with a flowmeter which mon-
itors the dispensing of liquid media.
Highly viscous chemical agents can cause problems with dispenser
monitoring. In this case the dispenser monitoring system for labor-
atory applications should be switched off by the Miele Customer
Service Department.
Strain relief for dispensing hoses
The strain relief provided with the dispensing modules for the dis-
pensing hoses is fitted to the bottom right-hand side of the back of
the machine to prevent the hoses from dislodging themselves from
the dispenser connections during use.
Connecting the dispensing hoses
The dispensing module is tested at the factory for functionality.
Any residues of the harmless test medium are a result of this testing
and not evidence of previous use.
Pull the safety cap off the end of the hose and remove the protect-
ive foil from the siphon.
Connect the hose with the dispenser connection to the cleaning
machine.

Connect the module to the machine’s power supply.
Connections for the dispensing hoses are located on the back of the
cleaning machine.
These are described in detail in the operating instructions for your
cleaning machine.
Fill or replace the container, fit the siphon and secure the lid.
Feed the siphon into the canister until it reaches the bottom.
Follow the instructions for venting the dispensing system and set-
ting the dosage in the operating instructions.
Colour coding on the dispensing hoses
To differentiate between the containers when using more than one
DOS module, the hoses must be colour coded using the coloured la-
bels supplied.
Stick the label near the siphon and one of the same colour close to
the free end of the hose to enable clear identification.
Miele use and recommend the following for DOS K 85:
– blue: for cleaning agent
– red: for neutralising agent
– green: for disinfecting agent / additional second cleaning agent
– white: for acidic chemical agent
– yellow: for special agents in laboratory applications
Maintenance
The dispensing system should be serviced at the same time as the
cleaning machine by Miele Service.
