Beaware of possible safety hazards whenyousee the safety alert symbol on the

refrigeratorand in this manual. Asignalword followsthesafety alert symbol andidentifies

thedanger of the hazard. Carefully read the descriptions ofthesesignal words to fully

knowtheir meanings. They are for your safety.

WARNING: This signal word means a hazard, which if ignored, can cause

dangerouspersonal injury, death, or much property damage.

CAUTION: This signal word means a hazard, which if ignored, can cause small

personalinjury or much property damage.

Model No. and Serial No.

The model and serial number are on a label which is inside the refrigerator on the left

side and on the cover of this manual.

Operation

Thisrefrigerator is made for refrigerating purposesandoperates on120 voltsACand

12/24volts DC power supplyieswheninstalledas written inthismanual.

NOTE: The refrigerator operates automatically onAC or DC power. When both

power sources are supplied to the refrigerator, it defaults toAC. When the

refrigeratoris disconnected from the shoreline power (whenACpoweris

nolonger available), therefrigeratorswitches to DCoperation.

CAUTION: Neverstore combustible materials near therefrigerator. Storing

combustiblematerials near therefrigerator creates asafety hazard andalso

decreasesthe ventilation ofthe cooling systemwhichdecreases the refrigerator

performance.

Donottouchtheevaporatororothermetalpartsinside the refrigerator cabinet with

wethands because they can freezetothe refrigerator.

Alwaysdisconnect all power sources from therefrigeratorwhen doing routine

maintenance.Have service workdone only byaqualified servicetechnician.

Therefrigerator temperature is controlled byathermostat, locatedonthe panelabove the

door. Agreen power light, located on the panel comes on when the refrigerator is “ON”.

Number “1” is the warmest and number “5” is the coldest thermostat position. For

efficient operation, change the thermostat according to the types of food stored and the

ambienttemperature.

If you are not going to use the refrigerator for an extended period of time, put the thermo-

stat to the “OFF” position.

Over Heating Shut-off Device Operation (DE0240T & DE0251T)

Operating the refrigerator in high ambient temperatures can over heat the cooling unit and

causepremature failure ofthecompressor. (See thelabel inside the refrigerator.)

Toprotect the coolingunit fromover heating, therefrigerator willautomatically shut-offwhen

the vehicle air temperature is higher than approximately 130° F. If shut off occurs, an

audible alarm tone (an intermittent beeping) operates from the refrigerator.

Tostop the audiblealarmtone and restarttherefrigerator, turnthe thermostatcounterclock-

wisetothe“OFF”positionandthenclockwisetothedesiredthermostatposition.

The refrigerator will not restart until the air temperature is lower than approximately

130° F.

Protection System

Your refrigerator has an over current protection system in the electronic circuit to

prevent damage to the inverter which may occur due to a reverse polarity connection.

If the refrigerator does not operate and the green power light does not come on, check

the fuse, which is located on the side of the inverter case, and the polarity of the DC

power supply. If the refrigerator still does not operate, another problem can exist in

the inverter. Have an authorized Norcold Service Center check the refrigerator.

Cleaning and Defrosting

Defrosting

Itis normal for frost to collectonthe freezer plate inside the refrigerator. Excessfrost

decreasesthe cooling performance of therefrigerator. Defrost therefrigerator as neces-

sary.

CAUTION: Do not use sharp objects, a hair dryer, a heat gun, etc. to defrost the

refrigerator. Damage to theinteriorof the refrigerator can occur.

- Turn the thermostat to “OFF”.

- Removeallfoodfrom the refrigerator.

NOTE: Defrostingthe refrigerator makesexcesswater inside therefrigerator.

- Putdry towels (etc.) inside the refrigerator toabsorbthe excess water.

- Put trays of hot water in the freezer until the frost is melted.

- Empty the drip tray.

- Remove the wet towels (etc.) and dry the inside of the refrigerator

- Turn the thermostat to the desired setting.

- Put the drip tray and all food in the refrigerator.

Cleaning

Agood time to clean the refrigerator is just after you defrost it.

Cleanthe inside of the refrigerator as oftenas necessary to avoid food odors:

- Removeallfoodfrom the refrigerator.

NOTE: Donot use abrasive cleaners, chemicals, or scouring padsbecause they can

damagethe inside of therefrigerator.

- Wash the inside of the refrigerator and the door gasket with a solution of liquid dish

detergentand warm water.

- Rinse with clean water and dry.

- After cleaning, put a thin coating of petroleum jelly on the hinge side of the gasket to

keep it soft and to prevent it from rolling.

Battery Maintenance

Over cooling drains your battery

- When the ambient temperature is between 70° and 90° F, keep the thermostat at the “3“

position to avoid an excessive drain of the battery. When making ice, or storing frozen

foods, turn the thermostat to the coldest setting “5“.

Maintain the battery

Ifthe charge of your battery is notsufficient, the coolingperformanceof your refrigerator

decreases.

CAUTION: Only use a “quick charger” on the battery if the thermostat is turned to

“OFF”.

Check the Battery charge Level

Afullychargedbattery willhavea specificgravity reading ofbetween 1.260and1.280. The

batteryvoltage isbestindicated when the refrigerator is “ON”andthe battery charging sys-

temis “OFF”. Charge the battery when the specific gravityreadingis less than 1.200.

Installation

Therefrigeratorshould be located and secured on a solid surface in the vehicle.

Beforeinstalling therefrigeratorinto the opening, make suretheDC supply is properly

connected. In many cases, the DC supply can be connected from outside the vehicle

by means of the baggage or access door.

Measurethe opening to determineifyou have proper clearancefor installation.

Additionalinsulation spacearoundtherefrigerator is notnecessary.

Be sure the refrigerator is not in direct sunlight or near a gas stove, a heater, or other

heat-generatingappliances. Avoidinstallingyour refrigerator closetowarm water lines

or warm air ducts.

Yourrefrigerator was thoroughly cleaned beforeshipment from the factory.

Itis advisable, however, to cleantheinterior once more before using. Wipethe interior

with a cloth and warm water. Then wipe with a dry cloth.

Ventilation

Sufficientventilation (airflow) overtherear mounted condenser ofthe refrigerator is

necessaryfor the refrigerator tooperate correctly (SeeArt01582).

* NOTE: The fan will operate only when

theambient temperature is

higherthan approximately 95° F.

CAUTION: Do not remove the

bottomrails from therefrigerator

cabinet. Therails supply space

underthe refrigerator that is neces-

saryfor correctventilation.

If you do not make sure that the

ventilationis correct,ashortened

refrigeratorlife expectancy,poor

Connect the 120 volts AC and 12 volts DC supplies

This refrigerator operates on 120 volts (60 hertz)AC current and 12/24 volts DC current

froma battery.

CAUTION: Onlyconnect the refrigerator directly to the battery. Because they

oftengeneratehighvoltagepulsesand cause transistor defectsinthe inverter, no

otherswitches, lead wires, orelectricalequipment should share thewiring between

the refrigerator and battery. Do not use an extension cord.

When using either a converter or a battery charger, make sure that they are connected in

parallelbetweenthe battery and the refrigerator. Donot use a converter or battery charger

to supply the DC power directly to the refrigerator because these two devices do not

supplyfiltered DC power (SeeArt01521).

Asthe distance fromthe vehicle battery to the refrigeratorincreases, the correctAWG wire

sizealso increases. If he wire size is toosmallfor the distance,a voltagedrop occurs.

Thevoltage dropdecreasesthe cooling performance of therefrigerator.

1. Norcold recommends that you use the following wire and fuse sizes:

- Measurethe distancefromthe vehicle battery to therefrigerator:

- If the distance is less than 12 feet, use 16AWG wire and a 10Amp fuse.

- If the distance is between 12 and 20 feet, use 14AWG wire and a 10Amp fuse.

- If the distance is more than 20 feet, use 12AWG wire and a 10Amp fuse.
