Introduction

Natural, healthy looking hair contains around 15% moisture. Scientific

tests have shown that drying at a too high temperature can lead to

overdrying, in which case the moisture level of the hair falls below the

natural level of 15%. Hair that has been overdried feels coarse and dry

and looks dull and frizzy. It is static and difficult to manage. Whereas

normal hairdryers can heat up the hair to very high temperatures, the

Philips Hydraprotect Salon hairdryer has been specially designed to

avoid heating up your hair too much without increasing the drying time.

The Hydraprotect sensor technology allows you to dry your hair in a

gentle way, reducing the risk of overdrying and/or overheating it and

thus keeping your hair healthy, soft and shiny.

Important

Read these instructions for use carefully before using the appliance and

save them for future reference.

◗Check if the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to

the local mains voltage before you connect the appliance.

◗Keep this appliance away from water! Do not use this product

near or over water contained in baths, washbasins, sinks etc..

When used in a bathroom, unplug the appliance after use since

the proximity of water presents a risk, even when the hairdryer is

switched off.

◗For additional protection we advise you to install a residual

current device (RCD) with a rated residual operating current

not exceeding 30mA in the electrical circuit supplying the

bathroom.Ask your installer for advice.

◗Keep the appliance out of the reach of children.

◗Never block the air grilles.

◗If the appliance overheats, it will switch off automatically. Unplug

the appliance and let it cool down for a few minutes. Before you

switch the appliance on again, check the grilles to make sure they

are not blocked by fluff, hair, etc.

◗Always unplug the appliance after use.

Using the appliance

Drying

1Put the plug in the wall socket.

2Switch the appliance on by setting the on/off slide to position I

(fig. 1).

3Select the desired airflow speed by pressing + to increase or - to

decrease the airflow speed (fig. 2).

◗The temperature sensor constantly monitors the moisture

content of the hair during the drying process (fig. 3).

Never press the red cover of the temperature sensor to avoid

malfunctioning of the appliance.

4Dry your hair by making brushing movements with the hairdryer

at a small distance from your hair (fig. 4).

◗The temperature indicator shows the condition of the hair (fig. 5).

When the temperature indicator burns green continuously, the area

you are drying is still wet.

When the temperature indicator starts blinking, the hair is almost dry.

5Select the highest airflow speed for fast drying.

6Select a lower airflow speed for drying short hair and for styling.

Styling tips

◗For long-lasting stying results, you can finish off with a cool shot

to fix your style.

7Press the blue button and keep it pressed to activate the cool

shot (fig. 6).

The temperature indicator starts blinking to indicate that the

temperature of the airflow has dropped below the care temperature.

◗When you release the button, the appliance starts operating at

the preset temperature again.

Attachments

Concentrator

◗To concentrate the airflow, you can connect the concentrator to

the air outlet.

1Connect the concentrator by simply snapping it onto the

appliance. Disconnect it by pulling it off (fig. 7).

◗The concentrator allows you to direct the airflow straight at the

brush or comb with which you are styling your hair (fig. 8).

Volume diffuser

◗The diffuser has been specially developed to gently dry both

straight and curly or wavy hair. It allows you to give your style

volume and bounce (fig. 9).

1Connect the diffuser by simply snapping it onto the appliance.

Disconnect it by pulling it off (fig. 10).

◗To add volume at the roots, insert the pins into your hair in such

a way that they touch your scalp (fig. 11).

◗Then make rotating movements with the appliance to distribute

the warm air evenly through your hair (fig. 12).

Curly or wavy hair

◗When you are styling curly or wavy hair, hold the diffuser at a

distance of 10-15 cm from your head to let the hair dry gradually.

◗In the meantime you can style your hair with your free hand or

with a wide-toothed comb (fig. 13).

◗You can also scrunch locks of hair in your hand to shape the curls

and waves while drying.This will prevent the curls from sagging or

becoming frizzy.

Long hair

◗To dry long hair, you can spread out locks of hair on top of the

diffuser (fig. 14).

◗Alternatively, you can comb it downwards with the pins of the

diffuser while drying (fig. 15).

Styling and drying tips

Here is one style you can create easily and gently with the Philips

Hydraprotect Salon hairdryer. As you become more familiar with the

appliance, you will discover many other ways to create great styles. Just

use your imagination!

1After washing and conditioning your hair as usual, start drying it

by dabbing the wet hair with a towel, then comb it through

carefully.

2Place the diffuser in your hair so that the tips of the air pins

touch your scalp. By making circular movements with the diffuser,

the hair will be lifted towards the base of the diffuser and the air

flowing from the air pins will dry the hair from the roots

upwards.This will add more volume to your hair. Continue drying

until your hair is dry at the roots.

3Select a lower airflow speed setting and dry your hair completely.

When the hair has reached its natural moisture content, the air

temperature will be lowered to the care level, preventing curls,

waves and long hair from becoming frizzy and dull. Use a comb or

brush to style your hair in the desired way while drying (fig. 16).

4To create volume at the hair ends, hold the diffuser in horizontal

position and place some locks of hair on the base of the diffuser

between the air pins and leave them there for a few moments.

The gentle airflow will prevent your curls or waves from being

blown out of style while drying (fig. 17).

5Finish off with a cool shot to fix your style (fig. 18).

Korzystanie z urządzenia

Suszenie

1Wetknij wtyczkę do gniazdka sieciowego.

2Włącz urządzenie ustawiając suwak włącz/wyłącz w pozycji I

(rys. 1).

3Wybierz żądane natężenie przepływu, wciskając + aby powiększyć

lub - , aby zmniejszyć prędkość przepływu (rys. 2).

◗Poziom wilgotności włosów jest kontrolowany przez czujnik

temperatury przez cały czas suszenia (rys. 3).

Aby uniknąć zakłóceń w pracy suszarki, nigdy nie naciskaj czerwonej

osłony czujnika temperatury.

4Utrzymując suszarkę w niewielkiej odległości od głowy wykonuj

nią ruchy szczotkujące, susząc w ten sposób włosy (rys. 4).

◗O stanie włosów informuje wskaźnik temperatury (rys. 5).

Gdy wskaźnik tem eratury świeci się w s osób ciągły w kolorze

zielonym, oznacza to, że suszony obszar jest wciąż wilgotny.

Gdy wskaźnik ten zaczyna migotać, jest to sygnał, że włosy są rawie

suche.

5W celu szybkiego suszenia, wybierz najwyższą wartość szybkości

przepływu.

6Aby wysuszyć krótkie włosy lub w celu ułożenia ich wybierz niską

prędkość przepływu powietrza.
