Introduction
This new Philips Aqua Satin Pro Style has been
specially designed to give beautiful styling results
in a quick and easy way.The 2 exchangeable
attachments - the round brush and the shaping
brush - allow you to make healthy and shiny curls
or waves.
This appliance has a unique integrated conditioner
reservoir for Pro Style hair conditioning lotion,
which allows you to condition your hair while
styling.This lotion has very good conditioning
properties: it softens your hair, makes it easier to
comb and adds shine.
Important
Read these instructions for use carefully before
using the appliance and save them for future
reference.
◗Check if the voltage indicated on the
appliance corresponds to the local mains
voltage before you connect the appliance.
◗Check the condition of the mains cord
regularly. Do not use the appliance if the plug,
the cord or the appliance itself is damaged.
◗If the mains cord is damaged, this appliance
must be discarded.
◗Keep this appliance away from water! Do not
use this product near or over water
contained in baths, washbasins, sinks etc.
When used in a bathroom, unplug the

appliance after use since the proximity of
water presents a risk.
◗For additional protection, we advise you to
install a residual current device (RCD) with a
rated residual operating current not
exceeding 30mA in the electrical circuit
supplying the bathroom.Ask your installer for
advice.
◗If the appliance overheats, it will switch off
automatically. Unplug the appliance and let it
cool down for a few minutes. Before you put
the plug back into the socket again, check the
grille to make sure it is not blocked by fluff,
hair, etc.
◗Keep the appliance out of the reach of
children.
◗Never block the air inlet grille.
◗Only use the appliance on dry or damp hair.
◗Only use this appliance in combination with
the specially developed HP4949 Pro Style hair
conditioning lotion or with tap water.
◗If the hair conditioning lotion comes into
contact with the eyes, flush the eyes with
water for at least 15 minutes. Obtain medical
attention if the irritation persists.
◗The barrel becomes hot during use. Prevent
contact with the skin.
◗Always unplug the appliance after use.
◗Wait until the appliance has cooled down
before storing it.
◗Do not wind the mains cord round the
appliance.

Preparing for use
Filling the reservoir
C1Detach the hair conditioner reservoir
from the appliance.
C2Open the reservoir and fill it with hair
conditioning lotion.
◗The reservoir can also be filled with water
under a gently running tap.
◗Always make sure that the reservoir is full
before you start styling.
Keep the appliance itself away from water!
3Close the reservoir. First insert the
narrow end of the reservoir into the
appliance and then push the broader end
of the reservoir home.You will hear a
click.
Preparing for styling
If you want to create curls with the round brush,
we advise you to perform a curl test to
determine how long the brush should be held in
your hair to achieve a good result.
◗Start with 8 to 10 seconds.You may have to
hold the brush in your hair longer for tighter

curls. Less tight curls will require less than 8
seconds.
1Put the plug in the wall socket.
C2Make sure the slide is in the mposition
(heat only).
3While the appliance is heating up, comb or
brush the hair so that it is disentangled
and smooth. Use a comb to divide the hair
into locks. Do not put too much hair in
one lock.
BThe appliance is ready for use after approx. 2
minutes.
◗To ensure optimal performance, do not
activate the conditioning function more than
twice in 10 seconds.
Make sure the slide is in the mposition (heat
only).
Using the appliance
Styling with the round brush
C1Take a lock of hair and wind it round the
brush. Make sure the end of the lock is
wound in the required direction.
- Do not wind too much hair round the barrel at
a time.

- The thinner the lock of hair, the tigher the curl
will be.
- Do not wind a lock of hair more than twice
round the brush.
- Make sure the lock of hair is in contact with the
barrel of the brush.
1If you wind the hair at right angles to the
scalp, you will give your hair optimum lift
and volume.
C2Activate the conditioning function by
pushing the button on the reservoir.
One push will suffice to set one curl or wave.
If the conditioning function does not work, the
reservoir may be empty. Refill the reservoir.
C3Set the appliance to the desired setting.
m: normal heat, no airflow.
~: a gentle, warm airflow for easy styling.
6: a stronger and warmer airflow for fast styling.
4Hold the brush in place as long as required
(normally 8 to 10 seconds).
5Remove the brush from your hair by
carefully unwinding the lock of hair.
Make sure you keep the brush away from the
underlying hair when you remove it.

C6Let the curls cool down before combing,
brushing or finger-combing the hair to
finish your style.
Styling with the shaping brush
The special design of the shaping brush ensures
that the warm air is directed at the scalp, creating
maximum root lift. It adds optimum body to your
hair and allows you to easily shape the desired
style.
The shaping brush can be used to create large
curls and waves and also to curl the hair ends
inwards or outwards.
C1Disconnect the round brush.
C2Attach the shaping brush.
Volume & waves
1Place the shaping brush in the hair in such
a way that the pins touch your scalp.
C2Brush against the direction of hair growth.

C3Then move the appliance away from the
head while turning the brush.
This will cause the hair to be lifted and to fall
lightly back onto the head, creating maximum
volume.
◗If the hair is damp, you can hold the shaping
brush still for a moment before moving the
appliance away from the head while turning
the brush.
C4Let the curls cool down before combing,
brushing or finger-combing the hair to
finish your style.
Cleaning
Always unplug the appliance before cleaning it.
Never rinse the appliance with water.
1Clean the appliance with a small brush or a
dry cloth.
2Clean the attachments with a moist cloth
or by rinsing them under the tap.
Remove the attachments from the appliance
before cleaning them.
Make sure the attachments are dry before using
or storing them.
3If you use tap water instead of
conditioning lotion, scale will develop in
the reservoir.To remove the scale, you
