Important

Read these instructions for use carefully before using the appliance and

save them for future reference.

◗Check if the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to

the local mains voltage before you connect the appliance.

◗Check the condition of the mains cord regularly. Do not use the

appliance if the plug, the cord or the appliance itself is damaged.

◗If the mains cord is damaged, it must be replaced by Philips, a

service centre authorised by Philips or similarly qualified persons

in order to avoid a hazard.

◗Keep this appliance away from water! Do not use this product

near or over water contained in baths, washbasins, sinks etc.

When used in a bathroom, unplug the appliance after use since

the proximity of water presents a risk.

◗For additional protection, we advise you to install a residual

current device (RCD) with a rated residual operating current not

exceeding 30mA in the electrical circuit supplying the bathroom.

Ask your installer for advice.

◗The barrel becomes hot during use. Prevent contact with the

skin.

◗Prevent the mains cord from coming into contact with the hot

parts of the appliance.

◗Keep the appliance out of the reach of children.

◗Only use the appliance on dry hair.

◗Always unplug the appliance after use.

◗Let the appliance cool down before storing it.

◗Do not wind the mains cord round the appliance.

◗Always return the appliance to a service centre authorised by

Philips for examination or repair. Repair by unqualified people

could cause an extremely hazardous situation for the user.

Using the appliance

◗Before you start styling, comb or brush your hair so that it is

untangled and smooth.

Styling with the curling iron

The curling iron can be used to create firm and evenly rounded curls

quickly and easily.

1Insert the mains plug into the wall socket.

The pilot light goes on and the barrel starts heating up.

The pilot light stays on as long as the appliance is connected to the wall

socket.

◗After approximately 15 minutes the appliance is ready for use.

2Start styling when the ready dot on the barrel changes colour.

3Take a lock of hair, open the clip by pressing the lever and place

the lock between the barrel and the clip (fig. 1).

BThe thinner the lock of hair, the tighter the curl will be. In this way the

full length of the lock will come in contact with the heated barrel.

4Release the lever (fig. 2).

5Slide the barrel to the end of the lock (fig. 3).

6Wind the hair round the barrel. Make sure the end of the lock is

wound in the required direction (fig. 4).

7Keep the curling iron in your hair for approximately 15 seconds

(fig. 5).

8Unwind the lock of hair until the clip can be opened again by

means of the lever (fig. 6).

9You can comb the curls with your fingers to add volume.

Styling with the round brush

The round brush can be used to create waves and to add volume to

your hair.

Prevent the brush from getting tangled in the hair in the following

way:

- Do not put too much hair in one lock.

- Do not wind a lock of hair more than twice round the brush.

- When unwinding a lock of hair, make sure that you hold the brush

away from the underlying hair.

1Slide the round brush onto the appliance (fig. 7).

Be careful! If you have just used the curling iron, the barrel will still be

hot.

Cleaning

Always unplug the appliance before cleaning it.

Put the appliance in a safe place and let it cool down before you start

cleaning it.

◗Clean the appliance with a small brush or a dry cloth.

Always unplug the appliance before storing it.

◗Put the appliance in a safe place and let it cool down (fig. 11).

◗Do not wind the mains cord round the appliance.
