Assoonastheprintserverisconnectedtothenetwork,itcheckswhetheranIPaddresscanbeobtained
viathebootprotocolBOOTPorDHCP.Ifthisisnotthecase,theprintserverusesZeroconftoassignitself
anIPaddressfromtheaddressrange(169.254.0.0/16)reservedforZeroconf.
The‚SmartProductManager‘isasowaretoolformanagingandmanagingnetworkdevices.Withthis
sowareyoucandeterminetheIPaddressoftheprintserverasdescribedbelowand,ifrequired,savea
freelydenableIPaddressintheprintserver.

Highlightaprintserverinthedevicelisttoopentheprintserver‘suserinterface.Bydefault,theuserinter-
faceisdisplayedtotherightofthedevicelist.Mostconguraonsoftheprintserverareperformedusing
theuserinterface.
The user interface of the print server can be opened in an Internet browser as the PRINTSERVER homepage
usingtheSmartProductManager.
FunconalscopeandconguraonofuserinterfaceandPRINTSERVERhomepageareidencal.Thefunc-
onsandconguraonsdescribedinthenextchaptersarethereforeexplainedusingtheSmartProduct
Manageruserinterface.

TheGeneralpagedisplaysstatusinformaonsuchastheprintservername,hard-
wareaddress,serialandversionnumbers,networktype,etc.‚Descripon‘displays
thetext previouslyentered under ‚Conguraon - General‘.Adescriponcanbe
freelydenedandusedtogetabeeroverviewoftheprintserversandprintersin
thenetwork.
Printer Port Status
ThePrinterPortpageshowsinformaonabouttheconnectedprinters.Itcontains
e.g.informaonaboutthemanufacturer,theprintermodelorthetotalnumberof
pagesprinted.Theprintercontrolpanelandprinterstatusmessagescanalsobe
displayed.Theinformaonthatcanbedisplayeddependsontheprinterandprint
servermodel.Forprintservermodelswithmulplephysicalprinterports,the
informaonforeachportisshownseparately.

physicalprinterports,theBonjournameisdisplayedforeachport.
TheMailpageshowsthestatusofthePOP3andSMTPsengs.‚Emailsretrieved‘
showsthenumberofemailsreceived.LastPOP3Error‘showsthelastPOP3error.
Nextmailretrievalin‘showstheremainingmeunlthenextmailretrieval.Replies
sent‘showsthenumberofemailssent.LastSMTPError‘showsthelastSMTPerror.
TheJobHistorypagedisplaysinformaonabouttheprintjobsthathavebeensent
totheprintserver.Amaximumof64printjobsaredisplayed.TheFIFOprinciple
(FirstIn-FirstOut)appliesfromthe65thprintjob.Switchingoorresengthe
printserverortheprinterdeletesthesavedprintjobs.Thejobsareretainedwhen
theprintserverisrestarted.Theinformaondisplayeddependsontheconnected
printermodel.
