Safety information
Passagemaking under autopilotcontrol is an enjoyableexperience
thatcan, if you arenotcareful, lead to therelaxationof the
permanentwatch. A permanent watchMUSTbe maintained no
matterhowclear the sea mayappeartobe.
WARNING:
Remember, a large ship can travel two miles in five minutes just
the time it takes to make a cup of coffee.

Thefollowing rules shouldalways be observed:
• Maintaina permanent watchand regularly checkall around for
othervesselsand obstacles to navigation–nomatter how clear the
seamay appear adangerous situation candevelop rapidly.
• Maintainanaccurate record of thevessel’spositioneither by use of
aradio navigation receiver orvisual bearings.
• Maintaina continuous plot ofposition on a currentchart. Ensure
thelockedautopilot heading steers youclearofall obstacles. Make
properallowance for Tidal Set–the autopilot cannot!
• Evenwhen your autopilotis locked ontothe desired Trackusing a
radionavigation receiver, always maintaina log and makeregular
positionalplots.Radio navigation signals canproducesignificant
errorsunder some circumstances andtheautopilot cannot detect
thissituation.
• Makesurethatallmembersofcreware familiar with the
proceduresto disengage the autopilot.
YourRaytheon autopilot will add anew dimension toyour boating
enjoyment.However,it is the responsibility oftheskipperto
ensurethesafetyofthe vessel at all times bycarefulobservanceof
thesebasicrules.
EMC conformance
AllRaytheonequipment and accessories aredesignedtothe best
industrystandards for use intheleisure marine environment.
Theirdesign and manufacture conforms tothe appropriate
ElectromagneticCompatibility(EMC)standards,butcorrect
installationisrequiredtoensure that performance is not
compromised.
Warranty
Toverify the ownership ofyour new autopilot, pleasetake a few
minutestocomplete the warranty card. Itisimportantthatyou
