Precautions

Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the Rocktron Reaction
Chromatic Tuner. Simple to use, the Reaction Tuner
makes things easy with a large segment note display
that offers easy viewing. Flashing FLAT and SHARP
LEDs also make it easy to see just where your tuning
is and how close you are to getting into tune. A bright
blue LED shows you precisely when you, in fact, are
in tune.
When turned on, the Reaction Tuner output is muted,
thus allowing for silent tuning. The Reaction Tuner
offers a calibration button that allows you to adjust the
tuner in order to tune to instruments that are “out of
tune”, such as an old piano.
Rocktron’s Reaction Series pedals are built into a rug-
ged metal slim form factor chassis, taking up as little
space as possible on your pedalboard. The Reaction
Tuner is a TRUE BYPASS pedal: when you turn it
off…it is out of your signal path!
The footswitch on the Reaction Tuner controls On/
Off status as shown by the LED indicator. Reaction
stomp boxes run on a 9V Alkaline battery, or may
also be powered by Rocktron’s DC OnTap Universal
Power Supply adaptor.

Typical Connection

Tuning Instructions:
Step 1 - plug the guitar/bass into the tuner - see “connec-
tions” section.
Step 2 - play a note on your guitar. Pluck your E string,
if needed, adjust your tuning machine on your instrument
until the letter “E” appears in the NOTE Display window.
Step 3 - if your note is at - the “FLAT” LED will light
and ash. The speed of the ash will show you by how
much your string is at. If the Flat LED is ashing
rapidly, tune your string up. During this process the LED
will begin ashing slower.
Step 4 - if your note is sharp - the “SHARP” LED will
light and ash. The speed of the ash will show you by
how much your string is sharp. If the Sharp LED is
ashing rapidly, tune your string down. During this
process the LED will begin ashing slower.
Step 5 - Continue with step 3 or step 4 until the at or
sharp LED stops ashing and the blue “IN TUNE” LED
lights. At this point the string is in tune.
Step 6 - Continue steps 2-5 but using your other strings
on your guitar or bass.

Calibration:
To match the pitch of any instrument or audio source
(like an old piano or tape player) press the “Calibrate”
button while simultaneously playing the note on the
instrument. (Note: you might have to rst tune one
string on the guitar or bass by ear to match the actual
note if the piano is out of standard tuning or if the
tape player you are playing along with runs slower
or faster than normal). Once you have one note on
the guitar tuned to the source - simply play that note
on the guitar - while the note is “ringing” press the
Calibrate button. The tuning pitch of the tuner will
automatically be shifted to match the pitch of the au-
dio source. Release the button and tune the remaining
strings as normal with the tuner The tuner at this
point has automatically adjusted the tuning range to
match that pitch. To reset the tuner to standard 440Hz
pitch turn off the tuner and then back on again with
the footswitch (see controls - point 6).
