The e 904
Full of sound – full of life
With its consistent frequency response, the e 904 creates a sound that
is as transparent as it is harmonic and that can be wonderfully shaped.
It can be cleanly embedded in the drum mix thanks to its precise
attacks and voluminous body.
The set receives an extremely energetic and defined sound with this
microphone. The e 904 reliably withstands even the hardest direct
hits. Thanks to its practical clip, it is child‘s play to attach to the rims
of snares and tom-toms. And, with its compact form, it takes up a very
small amount of space.
Features
• Compact dynamic microphone
• Consistent frequency response offers wide flexibility for individual
sound designs
• Very quick transient response delivers precise attacks
• Extremely simple handling and flexible positioning
• Humbucking coil
• Extremely rugged metal housing

Using the microphone
Positioning the microphone on a drum B
XUse the microphone clamp 2to attach the e 904 to the rim of the
drum.
Pos. Resulting sound Commentary
B.1 • More fundamental
• Little overtones
Position on the drum:
3–5 cm above the batter head, the
fundamental tone to overtones ratio
can be adjusted via the angle.
The most balanced results are obtai-
ned at an angle of 30–60°.
B.2 • Less fundamental
• Many overtones
B.3 Use of a second e 904 for picking up
the resonant head and the snares. If
necessary, activate phase reversing for
one of the microphones.
Positioning the monitor loudspeakers
XTo prevent feedback and crosstalk, postion your monitor loudspea-
kers in the angle area of the highest cancellation of the microphone
(approx. 180°).
