CONNECTING THE SKM-04
1. En ure that power i di connected from SKM-04.
2. U e a USB cable (Type-A to Type-B) to connect a USB port on
a computer to the re pective port of the SKM-04. Do thi for
each of the computer .
3. U e 3.5mm Stereo (Male-to-Male) audio cable to connect
the audio out port of the four computer to their re pective
port (Audio In ) of the SKM-04.
4. Optionally connect RS-232 for control function .
5. Connect the USB keyboard and mou e on the two USB port
on the right (clo e to the RS-232 port).
6. Connect peaker to the Audio Out port on the SKM-04
7. Optionally connect up to two USB 2.0 device (fla h drive,
printer, etc.) to the two USB port on the left .

SKM-04 INITIAL SETUP
After connecting all device to the SKM-04, a di play topology
configuration and di play mode mu t be cho en. By default,
SKM-04 i configured to ingle-head mode and a topology with
4 creen arranged horizontally tarting with port 1 on the
mo t left-hand ide.
1. The di play ’ in tallation etup mu t match one of
SKM-04’ predefined di play topology configuration. Thi
can be elected through keyboard hotkey command or
through RS-232. Plea e refer to the “Di play Topology Con-
figuration” for the available di play topologie .
2. If one or more of the input computer have multiple
di play , Multi-head Di play Mode mu t be elected.
Otherwi e, elect Single-head mode. Plea e refer to the
table below for the command :

SINGLE-HEAD MODE KM SWITCHING
SmartAVI’ new PASS (Progre ive Automatic Screen Switch-
ing) technology allow eamle witching between computer
by moving the mou e cur or from one di play to another. With
PASS, u er can effortle ly witch computer for fa ter pro-
ductivity.
• As the cursor moves from screen to screen, the SKM-04 delivers auto-
matic switching
• PASS does not work in Multi-head display mode
MULTI-HEAD MODE KM SWITCHING
When u ing computer with multiple di play , SmartAVI devel-
oped a new feature called Mou e Ge ture Switching

ogy that allow witching between computer through the u e
of imple mou e click and ge ture .
Simply pre the croll wheel twice and then move the mou e
in the direction of the channel you de ire to witch.
• This feature works for both Single-head and Multi-head display modes

OTHER METHODS TO CONTROL SKM-04
Front Panel ontrol
To witch port u ing the front panel, pre the UP button to
navigate up and DOWN button for down.
Hotkey ommands
The Hotkey command i a keyboard equence u ed to trigger
an action on the SKM-04 through the u e of the keyboard con-
nected on the USB port of the SKM-04. To activate the hotkey
equence, pre the CTRL key twice and then enter the de-
ired hotkey command .
RS-232 ontrol
U e a male-to-female erial cable to connect a computer to the
RS-232 port of the SKM-04. U e terminal client oftware uch
a the HyperTerminal

HyperTerminal to connect to the SKM-04. Make ure to
u e the tandard communication mode of 9600 bps, 8, N, 1.
Thi port can al o be u ed for oftware upgrade.

DISPLAY TOPOLOGY CON IGURATION
The SKM-04 ha a configurable di play topology configuration that can be
ea ily activated through keyboard hotkey or through RS-232 command .
No oftware or driver required for configuring the di play topology.
