s instructions.
8) Do notinstall near anyheat sources suchas
radiators, heat registers,stoves, or other
apparatus that produceheat.
9) Do notdefeat the safetypurpose of thepolarized
or grounding-type plug.A polarized plug
has two bladeswith one widerthan the other.
A grounding-type plughas two bladesand a
third grounding prong. The wide bladeor the
third prong isprovided for yoursafety. If the
provided plug doesnot fit intoyour outlet,
consult an electricianfor replacement ofthe
obsolete outlet.
10) Protect thepower cord frombeing walked on
or pinched, particularlyat plugs, convenience

the apparatus.
11) Only useattachments/accessories specified
by the manufacturer.
12) Use onlywith a cart,stand, bracket, ortable
specified by themanufacturer,or sold withthe
apparatus. When acart is used, use caution
when moving thecart/apparatus combination
to avoid injuryfrom tip-over.
13) Unplug thisapparatus during lightningstorms
or when unusedfor long periodsof time.
14) Refer allservicing to qualified service personnel.
Servicing is required whenthe apparatus
has been damagedin any way, such aspower supply
cord or plugis damaged, liquidhas
been spilled orobjects have falleninto the
apparatus, the apparatushas been exposedto
rain or moisture,does not operatenormally,
or has beendropped.
15) Toreduce the riskof fire orelectric shock, do
not expose thisapparatus to rainor moisture.
TO PREVENT ELECTRIC SHOCK DO NOT REMOVE
TOP OR BOTTOMCOVERS. NO USER SERVICEABLE
PARTS INSIDE. REFER SERVICINGTO QUALIFIED
SERVICE PERSONNEL.
MAGNETIC FIELD
CAUTION! Do notlocate sensitive highgainequipment such as
preamplifiers or tapedecks dirctly aboveor below theunit.
Because this amplifierhas a highpower density, it hasa strong
magnetic field whichcan induce huminto unshielded devices
that are locatednearby. The field isstrongest just aboveand
below the unit.
If an equipmentrack is used,we recommend locatingthe amplifier(s)
in the bottomof the rackand the preamplifieror other sensitive
equipment at thetop.
WATCH FOR THESE SYMBOLS:
The exclamation pointtriangle is usedto alert theuserto important
operating or maintenanceinstructions.
The lightning bolttriangle is usedto alert theuser to therisk of
electric shock.

2.1 Unpack Your Amplifier
Please unpack andinspect your amplifierfor any damage
that may haveoccurred during transit. If damage isfound,
notify the transportationcompany immediately.. Save the
shipping carton asevidence of damagefor the shipper s
inspection.
We also recommendthat you saveall packing materials so
you will havethem if youever need totransport the unit.
Never ship theunit without thefactory pack.
YOU WILL NEED(not supplied):
Output wiring cables
Input wiring cables
Rack for mountingamplifier (or astable surface for
stacking)
WARNING: Before youstart to set up your
amplifier,make sure youread and observe
the Important SafetyInstructions found at
the beginning ofthis manual.
2.2 Install Your Amplifier
CAUTION: Before youbegin, make sureyour amplifier
is disconnected fromthe power source, with the
power switch inthe off position and alllevel
controls turned completelydown (counterclockwise).
Use a standard equipment rack (EIARS310B).
See Figure 2.1for amplifiers dimensions.
19-inch (48.3 cm)
You may alsostack amps without using a cabinet.
NOTE: When transporting,amplifiers should besupported
at both frontand back.
2.3 Ensure Proper Cooling
When using anequipment rack, mountunits directly ontop
of each other. Close anyopen spaces inrack with blankpanels.
DO NOT blockfront, rear orside air vents. The side wallsof the
rack should bea minimum oftwo inches (5.1cm) away from
the amplifier sides, and the backof the rackshould be aminimum
of four inches(10.2 cm) fromthe amplifier backpanel.

2.4 Choose Input Wire andConnectors
Recommends usingpre-built or professionally
wired, balanced line(two-conductor plus shield), 22-24
gauge cables andconnectors. Depending uponwhich
amplifier input youchoose, you shoulduse either 3-pin
male XLR connectors,TRS phone connectors,or terminal
forks at theamplifier inputs.
Unbalanced line mayalso be usedbut may resultin noise
over long cableruns.
Note: Amplifier inputconnectors not usedfor audio signal
input may beused for daisy-chainingof the audiosignal
to other components.
Figure 2.2 showsconnector pin assignmentsfor balanced
wiring, and Figure2.3 shows connectorpin assignments
for unbalanced wiring.
NOTE: Custom wiringshould only beperformed
by qualified personnel.
2.5 Choose Output Wire andConnectors
Recommends usingpre-built or professionally
wired, high quality,two- or four-conductor, heavy
gauge speaker wireand connectors.
Using the guidelinesbelow, selectthe appropriate
size of wirebased on thedistance from amplifier
to speaker.
Distance Wire Size
up to 25ft. 16 AWG
26-40 ft. 14AWG
41-60 ft. 12AWG
