Loading your

Washer /-

For best washing results and

energy savings, sort the laundry

carefully.

1. Sort the laundry into loads.

Group the laundry into loads that

can be washed and dried together.

See the Laundry Guide for informa-

tion and samples of typical loads.

Try to mix large and small items for

best movement in the washer.

2. Measure Detergent; Add to

Washer Basket.

See detergent information on page

6 and in Section IV of the Laundry

Guide.

Add dry bleach or water condi-

tioner (not fabric softener) if used.

Follow the package directions

carefully.

3. load the Washer.

Spread the load evenly. (Don’t put

all the towels on one side and a few

wash cloths on the other.] An unbal-

anced load can cause the washer to

shake during spinning.

Load without packing so items can

move freely for best cleaning and

least wrinkling.

4. Pour Liquid Bleach into the

Dispenser.

See page 5 and the “Laundry

Aids” section of the Laundry Guide

for more information.

5. Add Diluted Fabric Softener only

to the Deep Rinse Cycle.

. DO NOT ADD FABRIC SOFTENER TO

THE WASH. Fabric softeners can com-

bine with soap or detergent to make

greasy stains on fabrics.

Understanding

your Washer

This automatic

washer has cycle

settings with different agitation and spin

speeds for different fabric types. For

example, the REGULAR HEAVY Cycle

has high agitation and high spin

speeds. The PERMANENT PRESS Cycle,

has high agitation speeds, but low spin

speeds. The washer has a

LOAD SIZE

SELECTOR

that lets you adjust the water

level to match the size of the load.

has a

TEMPERATURE SELECTOR.

has the words, LIQUID BLEACH, on it

Before startrng the washer, but after

Never use more

than 1 cup (250 mL) for a full load.

Use less with lower water level

Do not let any bleach run down

into the washer basket. Concen-

trated bleach will damage any

fabric.

Important

Detergent

Information

Detergents and soaps clean

by loosening SOII, and by holding it In

the water so It drains

away.

If not

enough detergent

used,

soil

and

lint can settle bock on the items in

the load.

SOAP

works best in soft water

(O-4 grains hardness) In harder water,

both the wash and rinse water should

be softened Use enough soap to

make about 112 to 2 inches (3.8 to 5.5

cm) of suds

DETERGENT

works in hard or

soft water Package dlrections ore

usually based on soft water and

washers with normal-size tubs.

Use

more detergent..

DETERGENT SUDS.

There are

high, normal and low sudsing pow-

dered detergents If the recom-

mended amount of detergent makes

too much suds, switch to a lower

sudsing brand.

DO NOT REDUCE THE

AMOUNT

of detergent.

Use the following chart as

beginning suggestlons for powdered

and liquid detergent amounts. See

your Laundry Guide for more infor-

mation (pages 14-22).

Using the

Suds-MiseP

System

If your washer has the

SUDS-MISER” System, It has two &an

hoses One hose drains wash water Into

the storage tub, the other

carries rinse

water to the drain

The storage tub should hold at

least 20 gallons (76 liters) If you do not

want to re-use wash water, leave the

stopper out of the storage tub so the

water drains away

The basket In your super capac-

ity washer holds more than 20 gallons

(74

liters) when the

LOAD SIZE SELEC-

TOR

ISset on EX LARGE Because so

many storage tubs hold only 20 gal-

lons, your washer ISdeslgned to save

most of the wash water and pump the

rest down the drain

If you have a storage tub big

enough to hold about 25 gallons

(95 liters), you can have a qualified

installer convert your washer to

save all the wash water.

To Save Wash Water

Be sure the stopper ISIn the

storage tub The SUDS-MISER system

does not save wash water from the

PERMANENT PRESS Cycle

In the PERMANENT PRESS Cycle,

part of the wash water ISdralned

away (with par1 of the detergent)

Then the washer fills agaln with cold

water This helps keep

permanent

press fabrics from wrinkling during the

spin

To Re-Use Wash Water

To pump the used wash water

back into the washer, push in the

Cycle Control Knob Turn it to the right

(clockwise) so it points to

SUDS just

before the time numbers In the REGU-

LAR HEAVY Cycle.

Pull the Control Knob out. The

washer will start pumping the used

water Into the basket. About an inch of

water WIII stay in the storage tub This

water will contain most of the so11that

settles out.

When the washer ISfinished

pumping, fresh water will flnlsh filling

the basket to the selected level

When the washer stops filling,

push the Cycle Control Knob In Add

about half the recommended amount

of detergent (See page 6 )

Add the load of laundry. pull

the Cycle Control Knob out

For Spinning Only

There may be times when you

spin, use the bar on PERMANENT PRESS

or KNITS GENTLE All the other cycle

settings have a high-speed spin.
