•Make Skype calls from your mobile/cell phone even when
you are away from your computer
•Switch between a Skype call and a regular landline call
•Use the Adaptor as an answering machine for both Skype
calls and landline calls
For last-minute information, please see the readme.txt file
installed with the Phone Adaptor.

1. Zoom Phone Adaptor Installation
Important! Do not connect the Zoom Phone Adaptor to your
computer until you are instructed to do so during the installation.
►If you have Windows Vista, continue below.
►If you have Windows XP or 2000, please see page 8.
Installing on Windows Vista
1If Skype 3.6 is not already installed on your computer, go to
http://www.skype.com and follow the download instructions.
2Make sure that Skype is running. A green Skype icon
with a check mark should appear in the Windows
taskbar at the bottom right of your screen to indicate that
Skype is active.
3Insert the supplied CD into your PC’s CD-ROM drive. The
installation should start automatically after a few seconds. If
it does not, open Computer and double-click your CD or
DVD drive icon.
If the AutoPlay dialog box appears, select Run setup.exe:
If a message tells you that an unidentified program wants
access to your computer, click Allow.
4On the Zoom menu, select your language, then select Install
Drivers and follow the Zoom Phone Adaptor Setup Wizard
instructions.
If you see a message saying Windows can't verify the
publisher of this driver software, select Install this driver
software anyway.
7

When the Completing the Zoom Phone Adaptor Setup
Wizard dialog box appears, connect the Adaptor to a USB port
on your computer or to an AC-powered USB hub and click
Finish.
Caution: The Zoom Phone Adaptor MUST NOT be
connected to a bus-powered USB hub.
5In the Windows needs to install driver software for your
Zoom Virtual Audio Device dialog box, select Locate and
install driver software (recommended).
6In the Windows needs your permission to continue message,
click Continue.
If you see a warning message saying Another program
wants to use Skype, select Allow this program to use
Skype.
7When the software installation is complete, in the
lower right corner of your screen you will see a new
green telephone icon. This indicates that the Zoom
Agent is installed and running.
8On the Zoom menu, click Exit, and remove the CD from your
CD-ROM drive.
Now go to Connecting a Phone on page 10.
Installing on Windows XP and 2000
1If Skype is not already installed on your computer, go to
http://www.skype.com and follow the download and
installation instructions.
2Make sure that Skype is running. A green Skype icon
with a check mark should appear on the taskbar at
8

the bottom right of your screen to indicate that Skype is
active.

NOT remove the Zoom CD yet.
7Two Found New Hardware popup messages appear at the
lower right corner of your screen, and then a third message
tells you that your new hardware is installed and ready to
use.
You will see a new green telephone icon in the
Windows taskbar. This indicates that the
Zoom Agent is installed and running.
8If a warning message appears, saying Another program
wants to use Skype, select Allow this program to use
Skype and click OK.
9On the Zoom menu, click Exit and remove the CD from your
CD-ROM drive.
Now go to the next section on Connecting a Phone.
9

Connecting a Phone
Plug a regular phone (one with a corded handset) or a cordless
phone into the PHONE connector on the Adaptor. If you have a
US-style phone, it should plug in easily. (If you don't have a US-
style phone, try unplugging the telephone’s cord and replacing it
with the phone cord supplied with your Phone Adaptor. If you
can’t unplug the cord, you will need to get an adaptor.)
Connecting to Your Landline (Recommended)
In order to make and receive non-Skype phone calls, including
emergency calls, and to link Skype to your mobile/cell phone,
you need to connect the Adaptor's LINE jack to a standard
telephone wall jack.
If your wall jack isn’t modular, you may need to get an adaptor.
Checking the Installation
When the installation is complete, the Zoom Phone Adaptor is
plugged into your PC, a telephone is connected to the Adaptor,
the Adaptor may be connected to a telephone wall jack, and the
Zoom Agent is running. The Zoom Agent is running if you see a
green telephone in the Windows taskbar.
