Reading the instruction

manual and to adhere to it should not appear to

be inconvenient and superfluous as it is not

enough to hear from others and to realise that a

machine is good, to buy it and to believe that now

everything would work by itself. The person con-

cerned would not only harm himself but also

make the mistake of blaming the machine for the

reason of a possible failure instead of himself. In

order to ensure a good success one should go into

the mind of a thing or make himself familiar with

every part of the machine and to get acquainte

with its handling. Only this way, you would be

satisfied both with the machine as also with

yourself. To achieve this is the purpose of this in-

struction manual.

1 User advice

The chapter "User advice" provides information for dealing with the

instruction manual.

1.1 Purpose of the document

The present instruction manual

•describes the operation and the maintenance for the machine.

•gives important hints for a safety conscious and efficient opera-

tion with the machine.

•is part of the implement and should be kept so that it is always to

hand on the machine or in the towing vehicle.

•should be kept for future use.

1.2 Information about directions in this instruction manual

All information about direction in this instruction manual are to be

understood in direction of travel.

1.3 Illustrations used

Operational action and reactions

The steps of operation to be carried out by the operational staff are

described in a numbered list. Stick to the sequence of the given action

advice. If necessary, the reaction to the relevant action advice is indi-

cated by an arrow. Example:

1. Action advice 1

→Reaction of the machine to action advice 1

2. Action advice 2

Enumerations

Enumerations without indispensable sequence are described as a list

with enumeration items. Example:

•Item 1

•Item 2

Position figures in illustrations

Figures in round brackets refer to position figures in illustrations. The

first figure refers to the illustration, the second figure refers to the po-

sition number in the illustration.

Example (Fig. 3/6)

•Figure 3

•Position 6

Symbols

The symbols mark especially important information.

IMPORTANT

marks an obligation of particular behaviour or action for the ap-

propriate handling of the machine.

Not adhering to these hints may cause trouble on the machine or

the environment.

HINT

marks application hints and particularly useful information.

These hints will help you to optimally make use of the functions

on your machine.

1.4 Hints for the setting chart

For all settings on the AMAZONE centrifugal broadcasters follow the

indications of the setting chart.

All common fertilisers are test-spread in the AMAZONE test hall and

the hereby determined setting figures are entered into the setting

chart.

ll fertilisers mentioned in the setting chart were in excellent condition

when determining the setting values.

Due to varying fertiliser characteristics because of

•weather influence and/or unfavourable studding conditions,

•deviations of the physical properties of the fertiliser – also within

the same kind and brand –,

•changing the spreading behaviour of the fertiliser,

deviations from the figures for setting the desired spread rate or work-

ing width in the setting chart may become necessary.

No guarantee can be given that your fertiliser – even with the same

name and from the same manufacturer – has the same spreading

behaviour as the fertiliser tested by us.

•The setting figures of the setting chart can only be taken as

standard as the spreading behaviour of the fertiliser may change

and require other settings.

•With unknown kinds of fertiliser or for a checking of the working

width set, a working width check can easily be conducted with

the mobile test kit.

•The indicated setting recommendations for the lateral distribu-

tion (working width) only refer to the weight distribution and not

to the nutrient distribution.

User advice

32 Mobile fertiliser test kit DB 538.1 04.08

Depending on working width, type of fertiliser and kind of fertilis-

ing (normal- or boundary- or border spreading) take the indications

for

•type of spreading disc,

•mounting height,

•vane position and

•pto shaft rev. speed or spreading disc rev. speed for normal- or

boundary- or border spreading

from the setting chart.

Carry out all settings with greatest care. Deviations from the optimum

setting may change the spread pattern negatively.

We implicitly point out that we do not accept liability for consequential

damage due to spreading errors.

1.5 Affixing of the enclosed self-adhesive foils to the two measurement

funnels

The enclosed self-adhesive foils must be affixed to the two measure-

ment funnels of the mobile test bench as shown.

The numbered foils designate the side of the measurement funnel in

which the collected fertiliser from the respective measurement row

(I to IV) is to be filled.

Product description

2 Product description

The mobile test kit allows checking the lateral distribution of the fertil-

iser in the field.

For this purpose 16 collecting trays are available which should be

placed as prescribed.

After having placed the collecting trays drive down two or three bouts.

The lateral distribution which has been determined with the help of

the mobile test kit is evaluated by using a calculation scheme or a

software.

If necessary the chosen spreading vane setting can be optimised.

There are three different kings to evaluate the fertiliser lateral distribu-

tion:

•Calculation with the aid of AMATRON+

•Calculation with the aid of a pocket computer (PDA). Download

of software from the internet (www.amazone.de)

•Calculation with the aid of the calculation scheme

Way of function

3 Way of function

The mobile fertiliser test kit consists of 16 collecting trays and 2

measuring funnels.

Each 4 collecting trays are arranged one after another and parallel in

4 rows. This way a better check of the fertiliser lateral distribution is

(Fig. 1). Pouring together the collected fertiliser amounts of the rele-

vant 4 collected fertiliser quantities results in a clear mean value (Fig.
