Perform all maintenance with the machine OFF

Daily Maintenance

Cleaning Oiling

Rotary hook

1. Open bobbin case cover and remove bobbin case.

Use brush to remove lint build up in and around

rotary hook. Compressed air may also be used.

2. Insert bobbin case in to rotary hook. Make sure

bobbin thread is not over 2 inches long. Close

bobbin case cover.

Rotary hook

1. Rotate the pulley or degree wheel backwards so

that 50 degrees is at the top.

2. Open the bobbin case cover.

Place a small drop of

oil on the raceway as indicated by the arrow. Oil

rotary hook every 3-4 hours of operation.

3. Close bobbin case cover.

4. Rotate pulley in the direction of the arrow or

forward to stop position, 100 degrees.

Weekly Maintenance

Oiling

Needle Bars

1. Remove the front plate that has the “BROTHER”

logo on it by removing one screw and loosening

the other. The plate will now slide off to the side.

2. Oil each needle bar as shown in the picture by

placing a small drop of oil on each needle bar in

the two locations.

3. Replace cover.

Oil Tanks

1. Fill both oil tanks with fresh oil to ½ full by inserting

oil bottle through the rubber dust plugs.

Note: Oil may run out in the front tank after one or

two hours of operation. This is normal. A part that

can keep extra oil is incorporated into the machine

front oil tank, so that even with no oil tank, oil can

be supplied to the machine.

Monthly Maintenance

Cleaning

Knives

1. Remove the two screws and remove the needle

plate.

2. Clean any thread and lint around the moving and

fixed knive with a brush or compressed air

3. Re-install needle plate.

Control Box

1. Use a brush to clean fan inlet and vents on sides

control box.

6 Month Maintenance

Greasing

Color Change Assembly

1. Color change the machine to the furthest needle

to the left. Apply black grease (BR2) to the

groove of the cam and bevel gears. Apply grease

lightly since excess grease may contaminate the

color change sensor on some models.

2. Apply black grease (BR2) to the roller bearings.

Apply grease lightly since excess grease may

contaminate the color change sensor on some

models. Color change the machine to needle 1 to

get to the last 3 to 4 roller bearings on the other

side.

Color Change Linear Rail

1. Color change the machine to needle 1. Apply white

grease (30) to the two grooves on the left side of

the linear rail. Color change the machine to the

furthest needle to the left to get to the other side of

the linear rail and grease on that side as well.

6 Month Maintenance

Greasing

X Linear Rail

1. Looking up underneath the pantograph you will

see the X linear rail.

2. Apply white grease (30) to the two grooves of the

linear rail its entire length. This will be made

easier by

slowly

moving the pantograph all the

way to the right to grease the left side and vice

versa for the right side.

Y Linear Rails

1. Push the pantograph

slowly

to the back. Apply

white grease (30) to the two grooves of the linear

rails on boththe left and right side of the machine.

2. Push the pantograph

slowly

to the front. Apply

white grease (30) to the two grooves of the linear

rails on boththe left and right side of the machine.

6 Month Maintenance

Greasing Oiling

Presser Foot Assembly

1. Color change the machine to needle number 1.

Apply black grease (BR2) to the grooves of the

presser foot guide plate for the guide bracket and

retracting lever as indicated by the arrows.

X sensor eccentric bushing

1. Remove the 8 screws holding on the cover and

remove.

2. Lubricate eccentric bushing with a few drops of oil

to the slot as indicated by the arrow.

3. Install the cover.

Note: Make sure that the wires that run up to the

control panel through the right had side of the cover are

installed into the notch for them in the cover and not

pinched by the cover.
