Thank you for purchasing the PBC by CDA-TEK.
With the PBC, you will be able to control and monitor the primary controls of your
Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera wirelessly via Bluetooth LE.
The PBC uses a simple two button interface to control all of these parameters within your
camera and has a bright daylight readable colour screen to monitor their current settings.
Despite only having this very simple interface, both the Aand Bbuttons can be configured
to control up to six different functions of your camera at any one time from a selection of
sixteen possibilities.
The PBC is fitted with an internal high capacity battery that provides a continuous run time
of up to five hours and is re-charged from its USB-C port using the supplied cable and can
also be powered directly from this port whilst it is re-charging.
In addition, the PBC can also be used as an interface hub to allow wireless focus control
of your camera using either the Tilta Nucleus Nano Focus wheel or our own forthcoming
PXP expander unit.
As well as the PXP, we will be releasing additional expansion options in the future that will
also use the PBC in this interface hub mode.

WELCOME TO THE PBC

Battery charging and power on.
The internal battery of the PBC is charged using the supplied USB-C cable and a full
charge from flat should take approximately two hours and we recommend doing this
before following the rest of the guide.
The PBC is powered on using the reset switch, by pressing the Bbutton if it is in
Hibernate mode or automatically by applying USB power when the battery is empty.
Bonding the PBC to your Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera.
Before you can use the PBC to control your camera for the first time, you must first
perform the initial bonding process.
To initiate this process, with PBC powered on, switch your camera on, navigate to the
Bluetooth control page of its SETUP menu and ensure that Bluetooth is set to ON.
When the PBC finds you camera and connects to it, your camera will display a PIN
number to be entered and the PBC will invoke the PIN entry screen below.
Use the Abutton on the PBC to increase the value of the number to match the first one in
the requested PIN, then press the Bbutton to move to the and repeat the process until
you match all six numbers. Finally, move to the OK field and press the Abutton to submit
the PIN after which you should see a confirmation message on the camera screen and the
PBC will reboot and you will be able to control your camera.
If you make a mistake, simply wait for the PBC to reboot and the camera will display a
new PIN for you to try again. This bonding process is only performed the very first time
you connect to your camera and all subsequent connections will be automatically
authorised.

CONFIGURING YOUR PBC : PART 3

How to select your camera and expansion option.
How to remove lenses from the lens database.
This option is only applicable if you are using a Pocket 6K camera with either a Tilta
Nucleus Nano wheel or our own upcoming PXP module.
As the focus control system of the Pocket 6K is entirely different to the Pocket 4K and due
to the variance in the focus control resolution of different lenses, each lens must be
calibrated individually and the results stored in the PBC's LENS DATABASE.
When the PBC is connected to a Pocket 6K and detects a lens change it automatically
checks to see if the lens exists in its database and if it isn't then it prompts you to instigate
the automated calibration process and then adds it to the database.
The LENS DATABASE option enables you to delete any number of the stored calibrations
to enable you to re-calibrate them when you next connect it to the camera and is
accessed by navigating in the main Setup Menu to Lens Database and pressing the A
button.
With the LENS CALIBRATIONS screen open, navigate to Lens using the Bbutton and
then select the required lens for deletion using the Abutton.
When you have selected the lens, use the Bbutton to navigate to Delete and then to save
these changes use the Bbutton again to navigate to Save and press the Abutton to
remove it from the LENS DATABASE and the PBC will then automatically restart.
The next time you attach the deleted lens to the camera, you will automatically be
prompted to re-calibrate it using the automated calibration function.
Selecting Abort will abort the changes made to the LENS DATABASE.
