General Safety Warnings

WARNING Read all safety

warnings and instructions.

Failure to follow the warnings and

instructions may result in electric

shock, re and/or serious injury.

Save all warnings and

instructions for future reference.

The term ″power tool″ in the

warnings refers to your line-

operated (corded) power tool.

1. Keep Battery Pack (38) Dry.

Do not open, drop, short-

circuit, incinerate or expose

to temperatures greater

than 140°F.

Charge Battery Pack only according2.

to the instructions indicated in this

manual.

Inspect Battery Pack before every3.

use; do not use or charge if dam-

aged.

Work area safety4.

Keep work area clean and well lit.a.

Cluttered or dark areas invite acci-

dents.

Do not operate power tools inb.

the presence of ammable liquids,

gases or dust. Power tools create

sparks which may ignite the dust or

fumes.

Keep children and bystandersc.

away while operating a power tool.

Distractions can cause you to lose

control.

Electrical safety5.

Power tool Plugs must match thea.

outlet. Never modify the Plug in

any way. Do not use any adapter

plugs with grounded power tools.

Unmodied plugs and matching out-

lets will reduce risk of electric shock.

Avoid body contact with groundedb.

surfaces such as pipes, radiators,

ranges and refrigerators. There is

an increased risk of electric shock if

your body is grounded.

Do not expose power tools to rainc.

or wet conditions. Water entering

a power tool will increase the risk of

electric shock.

Do not abuse the Power Cord.d.

Never use the Cord for carrying,

pulling or unplugging the power

tool. Keep Cord away from heat,

oil, sharp edges or moving parts.

Damaged or entangled cords in-

crease the risk of electric shock.

When operating a power tool out-e.

doors, use an extension cord suit-

able for outdoor use. Use of a cord

suitable for outdoor use reduces the

risk of electric shock.

If operating a power tool in a dampf.

location is unavoidable, use a

Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter

(GFCI) protected supply. Use of

a GFCI reduces the risk of electric

shock.

Personal safety6.

Stay alert, watch what you are do-a.

ing and use common sense when

operating a power tool. Do not use

a power tool while you are tired

or under the inuence of drugs,

alcohol or medication. A moment

of inattention while operating power

tools may result in serious personal

injury.

Use personal protective equip-b.

ment. Always wear ANSI-approved

safety goggles. Safety equipment

such as NIOSH-approved dust mask/

respirator, NIOSH-approved hear-

ing protection, and heavy duty work

gloves will reduce personal injuries.

Prevent unintentional starting.c.

Ensure the Power Switch is in the

off-position before connecting to

the power source or picking up or

carrying the tool. Carrying power

tools with your nger on the Power

Switch invites accidents.

Remove any adjusting key ord.

wrench before turning the power

tool on. A wrench or a key left at-

tached to an oscillating part of the

power tool may result in personal

injury.

Do not overreach. Keep propere.

footing and balance at all times.

This enables better control of the

power tool in unexpected situations.

Dress properly. Do not wear loosef.

clothing or jewelry. Keep your

hair, clothing and gloves away

from moving parts. Loose clothes,

jewelry or long hair can be caught in

moving parts.

Power tool use and care7.

Do not force the power tool. Usea.

the correct power tool for your ap-

plication. The correct power tool will

do the job better and safer at the rate

for which it was designed.

Do not use the power tool if theb.

Power Switch does not turn it on

and off. Any power tool that cannot

be controlled with the Switch is dan-

gerous and must be repaired.

Disconnect the Power Cord fromc.

the power source before making

any adjustments, changing acces-

sories, or storing the power tool.

Such preventive safety measures

reduce the risk of starting the power

tool accidentally.

Store idle power tools out of thed.

reach of children and do not allow

persons unfamiliar with the power

tool or these instructions to oper-

ate the power tool. Power tools are

dangerous in the hands of untrained

users.

Maintain power tools. Check fore.

misalignment or binding of moving

parts, breakage of parts and any

other condition that may affect the

power tool’s operation. If dam-

aged, have the power tool repaired

before use. Many accidents are

caused by poorly maintained power

tools.

Keep cutting accessories sharpf.

and clean. Properly maintained cut-

ting accessories with sharp cutting

edges are less likely to bind and are

easier to control.

Use the power tool and its acces-g.

sories in accordance with these

instructions, taking into account

the working conditions and the

work to be performed. Use of the

power tool for operations different

from those intended could result in a

hazardous situation.

Service8.

Have your power tool serviced bya.

a qualied repair person using

only identical replacement parts.

This will ensure that the safety of the

power tool is maintained.

information. If unreadable or miss-

ing, contact Harbor Freight Tools for a

replacement.

to begin work before turning on the

tool.

Do not lay the tool down until it has8.

come to a complete stop. Moving

parts can grab the surface and pull

the tool out of your control.

When using a handheld power tool,9.

maintain a rm grip on the tool with

both hands to resist starting torque.

Do not leave the tool unattended10.

when it is plugged into an electrical

outlet. Turn off the tool, and unplug it

from its electrical outlet before leav-

ing.

This product is not a toy. Keep it out11.

of reach of children.

People with pacemakers should12.

consult their physician(s) before use.

Electromagnetic elds in close prox-

imity to heart pacemaker could cause

pacemaker interference or pacemak-

er failure. In addition, people with

pacemakers should:

• Avoid operating alone.

• Do not use with power switch locked

on.

• Properly maintain and inspect to

avoid electrical shock.

• Any power cord must be properly

grounded. Ground Fault Circuit Inter-

rupter (GFCI) should also be imple-

mented – it prevents sustained elec-

trical shock.

Some dust created by power sand-13.

ing, sawing, grinding, drilling, and

other construction activities, contains

chemicals known [to the State of Cali-

fornia] to cause cancer, birth defects

or other reproductive harm. Some

examples of these chemicals are:

• Lead from lead-based paints

• Crystalline silica from bricks and ce-

ment or other masonry products

• Arsenic and chromium from chemi-

cally treated lumber

Your risk from these exposures var-

ies, depending on how often you do

this type of work. To reduce your

exposure to these chemicals: work in

a well ventilated area, and work with

approved safety equipment, such as

those dust masks that are specially

designed to lter out microscopic

particles. (California Health & Safety

Code § 25249.5, et seq.)

this product will expose you to lead,

a chemical known to the State of

California to cause cancer, and birth

defects or other reproductive harm.

tion (such as tingling, numbness, and

white or blue ngers), seek medical

advice as soon as possible.

Do not smoke during use. Nico-2.

tine reduces the blood supply to the

hands and ngers, increasing the risk

of vibration-related injury.

Wear suitable gloves to reduce the3.

vibration effects on the user.

Use power tools with the lowest vi-4.

bration when there is a choice be-

tween different processes.

Include vibration-free periods each5.

day of work.

Grip the power tool as lightly as pos-6.

sible (while still keeping safe control
