3. Measuring
Important
• Measure against a hard, even surface and make sure that the area between the meter and
the measured surface is free from obstructions to enable the most accurate readings.
• Distance can be measured from the front or back of the device or by using its fold-out reference pin.
• If you need to measure the distance to a surface which is soft, irregular or too small, place a
piece of cardboard in front of the surface.
• The laser beam may not be used to measure through glass surfaces. Reflections from such
measuring may be faulty due to reflections.
3.1 Inserting batteries
1. Press to turn on the distance meter and laser. The laser indicator will display when
the laser is on.
2. Turn on the backlight when needed. Long press until the light comes on.
3. Point the laser onto the area to be measured and press once to measure
(a short beep will be heard once the measurement has been taken).
4. The measured distance will be shown on the display.
5. If no button is pushed for 30 seconds, the laser will turn off automatically and after 3 min
the device will also turn off.
3.3 Adding or subtracting measurements
Suitable for situations requiring several measurements because of immovable obstacles.
1. Take the first reading. Select distance, area or volume. Then press to save the reading
to memory.
2. Take a second reading and press to add or subtract the previous reading.
3. The sum is shown at the bottom of the display. Press to save the reading to memory.
4. Then start again from step 2 to complete your measurements.
1. Open the battery cover on the bottom.
2. Insert two AA/LR6 alkaline batteries according to
the polarity markings in the battery compartment.
3.2 Measuring distance
Note: Always make sure that you have chosen the correct unit of measurement before measuring.
The unit of measurement is displayed on the upper right corner of the screen (see Selecting
the unit of measurement). Make sure that a reference point is chosen (see Changing reference points).

Example: Adding measurements
1. Take the first reading and then press to save it temporarily into memory.
2. Point the laser to the next area to be measured and press again to measure.
Then press to add the current reading to the previous one.
3. The sum will be shown at the bottom of the display. The two added readings are shown above it.
4. Continue adding readings by pressing and starting again from step 2. The sum will move
to the top.
Example: Subtracting measurements
1. Take the first reading and then press to save it temporarily into memory.
2. Point the laser to the next area to be measured and press again to measure.
Press to subtract the current reading from the previous one.
3. The sum will be shown at the bottom of the display. The two previous readings are shown above it.
4. Continue subtracting readings by pressing and starting again from step 2. The result will
move to the top.
3.4 Continuous measurement
1. Long press for about three seconds.
2. The laser beam will be automatically activated.
3. Press or if you wish to pause continuous measuring.
4. During measuring both the min and max values will be displayed.
5. To finish measuring, first press to pause and again to finish.

3.5 Timer set measuring
In order to ensure accurate measurements by having the device perfectly still, you can measure
by setting the timer.
1. Point the laser to the area to be measured.
2. Press the required number of times to set your desired trigger time (3 to 15 seconds).
3. Press to turn on the laser.
4. Press to start the timer. When the timer has counted down and completed measuring
a beep will be heard and the result will show in the display.
3.6 Changing reference points
The distance meter has three measuring references.
The last measuring reference used will also be the pre-selected
measuring reference the next time it is used.
When needed, the measuring reference can be changed as follows:
Press
until the measuring reference you desire appears in the upper left hand corner of
the display.
Measuring from the front of
the distance meter.
Measuring from the fold-out
reference pin.
Measuring from the back
of the distance meter.
3.7 Selecting the units of measurement
Long press until the desired unit of measurement is shown in the lower right hand corner.
Available units of measurements:
metres feet inches
(x.x)
0′0″1/32 inches
(x.x)
Length m ft in 0′0″1/32 in
Area m² ft² ft² ft² ft² ²
Volume m³ ft³ ft³ ft³ ft³ m³
Note: The same unit of measurement will be pre-selected the next time the meter is used.

The unit of measure is displayed on the lower right corner of the screen (see Selecting the units of
measurement). Make sure that a reference point is chosen (see Changing reference points).
4.1 Area measurement
Follow the instructions on the display. The corresponding symbol for what is to be measured
will flash on screen.
1. Press to start the distance meter and laser. The laser indicator will display when
the laser is on.
2. Press once to select the area measuring function (the rectangle will show on the display).
The length side will begin to flash.
3. Point the laser over the area to be measured to measure length and press once to
measure (a short beep will be heard once the measurement has been taken).
4. The measured distance will be shown on the display. The width side of the rectangle will
begin to flash.
5. Point the laser over the area to be measured, in the other direction and press again to
measure width (a short beep will be heard once the measurement has been taken).
6. Both readings will show on top. The sum is shown at the bottom of the display.
4.2 Volume measurement
