Responsibilities of the person in charge of the instrument
• To understand thesafety instructions on theproduct and theinstructions in
theInstruction Manual.
• To be familiar with local safety regulations relating to accident prevention.
• Always prevent access to theproduct by unauthorised personnel.
Permitted use
• Measuring distances.
Prohibited use
• Using theproduct without instruction.
• Using outside thestated limits.
• Deactivation of safety systems and removal of explanatory and hazard labels.
• Opening of theequipment by using tools (screwdrivers,etc.).
• Carrying out modification or conversion of theproduct.
• Use of accessories from other manufacturers without express approval.
• Deliberate dazzling of third parties; also in thedark.
• Inadequate safeguards at thesurveying site (e.g. when measuring on roads,
construction sites,etc.).
• Deliberate or irresponsible behaviour on scaffolding, when using ladders, when
measuring near machines which are running or near parts of machines or
installations which are unprotected.

Hazards in use
WARNING! Watchout for erroneous measurements if theinstrument is defective
or if it has been dropped or has been misused or modified. Carryout periodic test
measurements. Particularly after theinstrument has been subject to abnormal use,
and before, during and after important measurements.
CAUTION! Neverattempt to repair theproduct yourself. Incase of damage,
contact alocal dealer.
WARNING! Changes or modifications not expressly approved could void
theuser’s authority to operate theequipment.
Limits of use
Refer to section Specifications in theInstruction manual. Thedevice is designed for
use in areas permanently habitable by humans. Donot use theproduct in explosion
hazardous areas or in aggressive environments.
Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)
WARNING! Thedevice conforms to themost stringent requirements of therelevant
standards and regulations. Yet, thepossibility of causing interference in other devices
cannot be totally excluded. FCCstatement (applicable in U.S.): Thisequipment
has been tested and found to comply with thelimits for aClass B digital device,
pursuant to part 15 of theFCC Rules. Theselimits are designed to provide reasonable
protection against harmful interference in aresidential installation.
This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not
installed and used in accordance with theinstructions, may cause harmful interference
to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not
occur in aparticular installation. Ifthis equipment does cause harmful interference to
radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning theequipment off
and on, theuser is encouraged to try to correct theinterference by one or more of
thefollowing measures:
• Reorient or relocate thereceiving antenna. Increase theseparation between
theequipment and receiver.
• Connect theequipment into anoutlet on acircuit different from that to which
thereceiver is connected.

Laser classication
This meter produces avisible laser beam from
thefront of theinstrument: itis aClass 2laser
in accordancewith: IEC60825-1: 2014Safety of
laser products.
Laser class 2 products
Do not stare into thelaser beam or direct it towards other people or animals.
Riskof serious damage toeyes.
Warning! Donot look directly into thebeam with optical aids such as
binoculars or telescopes. Riskof serious damage toeyes.

Read theentire
instruction manual.
Laser class 2
• Make sure not to remove or damage thesafety symbols and warnings found on
thedistancemeter.
• Never try to open thehousing, repair or modify thedistance meter in anyway.
• Only use accessories that are recommended by themanufacturer or retailer.
• Never use thedistance meter where flammable or explosive substances are used
or stored.
• Do not use thedistance meter on or near highly reflective surfaces since thelaser
beam can be reflected back into your own or someone else’seyes.
• Keep thelaser distance meter out of children’sreach.
• Labelling: Subject to change (drawings,
descriptions and technical data) without
prior notice.

Operating instructions
Batteries
1. Remove thebattery cover and
insert 2×AAA/LR03 batteries.
Referto themarkings in thebattery
compartment to ensure correct
polarity.
2. Refit thebatterycover.
Switching on/off
Switch thedistance meter on by holding in [ ] (10) until thedisplay illuminates.
Hold in [ ] again to turn themeteroff.
Note: Thelaser switches off after 30 seconds and themeter switches off after
3minutes of inactivity.
Clear/Undo
Press [CLEAR] to clear measurement results or backstep out of theselected function.
Selecting the measurement reference
Press [ ] (8) to switch thereference point between
thefront (top edge) and rear (bottom edge) of
theinstrument.
Thedefault reference setting is therear of theinstrument.
Eachtime themeter is switched off thereference point
will be reset to thedefault setting (i.e. rear).
Selecting the unit for measuring distance
Press [UNIT] therequired number of times to toggle between m, ft, in and ft+in.
Beep on/off
Press [ ] (6) to switch thebeep signal on oroff.

Single distance measurement
1. Switch thedistance meter on by holding in [ ] until thedisplay illuminates.
2. Aim thelaser dot at thedesired surface.
3. Press [MEAS] to perform ameasurement.
4. Themeasurement will show on thedisplay.
Continuous distance measurement
1. Switch thedistance meter on by holding in [ ] until thedisplay illuminates.
2. Aim thelaser dot at thedesired surface.
3. Press [ MAX/MIN]. Distance measurement takes place continuously and
thedisplay shows thecurrent distance plus theminimum and maximum distances
that have been measured during theongoing measurement session.
4. Press [MEAS] or [CLEAR] to finish taking measurements.
Functions
Measuring an area
1. Switch thedistance meter on by holding in [ ] until thedisplay
illuminates.
2. Press [FUNC] until is displayed.
3. Aim thelaser at thetarget surface and press [MEAS] to perform
thefirst measurement, thedistance will be shown on thetop
row of thedisplay.
4. Aim thelaser at thetarget surface and press [MEAS] to perform
thesecond measurement, thedistance will be shown on
thesecond row of thedisplay. Theperimeter of themeasured
area is shown on thethird row of thedisplay and thearea is
shown at thebottom of thedisplay.

Measuring a volume
1. Switch thedistance meter on by holding in [ ] until thedisplay illuminates.
2. Press [FUNC] until is displayed.
3. Aim thelaser at thetarget surface and press [MEAS] to perform thefirst
measurement, thedistance will be shown on thetop row of thedisplay.
4. Press [MEAS] again to perform thetwo remaining measurements.
5. Thevolume will be shown on thebottom row of thedisplay.
Pythagoras 2-point measurement
1. Switch thedistance meter on by holding in [ ] until
thedisplay illuminates.
2. Press [FUNC] until is displayed.
3. Press [MEAS] to perform thefirst and second
measurements as shown in thepicture.
4. Thecalculation result will be shown on thebottom row of
thedisplay.

Calculation result
Pythagoras 3-point measurement
1. Switch thedistance meter on by holding in [ ] until
thedisplay illuminates.
2. Press [FUNC] until is displayed.
3. Press [MEAS] to perform thethree measurements as
shown in thepicturebelow. Youcan press [CLEAR]
to delete ameasured distance and then press [MEAS]
again to repeat thesame measurement.
4. Thecalculation result will be shown on thebottom row of
thedisplay.

Adding distance measurements
1. Switch thedistance meter on by holding in [ ] until thedisplay illuminates.
2. Take ameasurement. Themeasurement will show on thedisplay.
3. Short press [+/-], themeasurement will move up arow on thedisplay and anew
row will be created as themeter waits to add thenext measurement.
4. Take anew measurement; thesum of thetwo added measurements will now
appear on thebottom row of thedisplay.
Subtracting distance measurements
1. Switch thedistance meter on by holding in [ ] until thedisplay illuminates.
2. Take ameasurement. Themeasurement will show on thedisplay.
3. Hold in [+/- ] until thedisplayed measurement moves up arow on thedisplay and
anew row is created as themeter waits to subtract thenext measurement.
4. Take anew measurement, theresulting distance after thesubtraction will now
appear on thebottom row of thedisplay.
You can add or subtract several measurements in sussession by short pressing [+/-]
to add or holding in [+/- ] to subtract respectively.
Memory
Press [ ] (7) repeatedly to display the20 latest measurements.
Care and maintenance
• Clean theexterior of thedistance meter by wiping it with adampcloth. Useonly
mild cleaning agents, never solvents or corrosive chemicals.
• Never immerse thedistance meter in water or other liquid.
• Whenever thedistance meter is not to be used for anextended period,
thebatteries should be removed and it should be stored in adry, dust-free
environment, out of children’sreach.
