1. About this operating manual
This manual is part of the product.
fRead this manual before using the product.
fKeep this manual during the product’s service life, and keep it at hand for future
reference.
fPass on the operating manual to any subsequent owner or user of the product.
1.1 Layout of warning notices
WARNING WORD This indicates the type and source of danger.
fThis indicates measures for avoiding the danger.
Warning instructions exist in three stages:

2. Safety
2.1 Intended use
The WMS 800 low water level protection system is exclusively de-signed for safeguarding
theboilerringsystemforheatingsystemswithsupplytemperaturesupto120°Cby
alerting in case of a lack of water.
Any other use is unintended.
2.2 Foreseeable misuse
The WMS 800 low water level protection system must not be used in the following cases:
fUseonheatingsystemswithsupplytemperaturesabove120°C
fUse on high-pressure steam boilers and high pressure hot water boilers
fAreas with a risk of explosion
Incaseofoperationinareaswithariskofexplosion,sparkscancauseexplosions,resor
explosions

2.3 Safe handling
This product is constructed in line with the current state of art and the current state of
recognized safety/engineering rules. Each product is tested before delivery to verify its
function and safety.
fThis product must only be operated in perfect condition, taking into account the
operating instructions, normal rules and regula-tions, and the applicable safety
regulations and accident pre-vention regulations.
fCover the WMS 800 during work that creates large amounts of dust (e.g., working with
screed).
WARNING
Severe burns or death caused by mains voltage (230 V AC) be-low the cover.
fAvoid contact between the signaling unit and water.
fInterrupt the power supply before opening the cover.
fInterrupt the power supply before maintenance and cleaning.
fDo not tamper with the cover.
WARNING
Severe burns to the body, especially the face and hands, due to heating water
escaping or spraying out.
The water in heating systems is under high pressure and can reach temperatures of more
than120°C.
fDo tamper with the WMS 800 and the heating system.
fBefore opening the WMS 800, allow the heating water to drain or cool.
CAUTION
Permanent damage to the WMS 800 due to high water tempera-ture or high water
pressure in the sensor.
fNever exceed the maximum permissible water temperature; see Table 1, Page 7.

2.4 Staff qualications
Installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, decommission-ing and waste
disposalmayonlybeperformedbyspeciallytrained,qualiedpersonnel.Electricalwork
mustbeperformedbyaqualiedelectricianinaccordancewiththeapplicablerulesand
regulations.
2.5 Modication of the product
Unauthorizedmodicationoftheproductcancausemalfunctionsandisprohibitedfor
safety reasons.
2.6 Liability
The manufacturer assumes no liability and provides no warranty for damage or
consequential damage caused by failure to observe the technical instructions, manuals
and recommendations.

The manufacturer and the distributor are not liable for any costs or damages incurred by
the user or a third party through the use of this product, especially in case of unintended
use of the product, misuse or malfunctions of the power supply, malfunction of the

TheWMS800isaoater-basedmechanicallowwaterlevelprotec-tionsystemforsealed

dropsbelowaminimumvalue,aswitchisactivatedbyaoater.Thisswitchinterruptsthe
powersupplytotheboilerringsystem.Alockpreventsautonomousreactivation.The
testbuttonletsyoulowertheoatandsimulateawatershortage.
A WMS 800 version without an interlock is available for releasing directly at the control
cabinet.
Water level limiters are mandatory as of 300 kW in accordance with EN 12828. However,
their installation is generally recommended for all systems, especially in central heating
systems located under roofs.
The WMS 800 is designed for continuous operation.

4.1 Permit, approval, registration
The WMS 800 is VdTUEV-tested; component marking TÜV.HWB.11-232. The WMS 800
is VDE-tested and complies with the EMC Direc-tive (2004/108/EC), the Low Voltage
Directive (2006/95/EC) and the Pressure Equipment Directive (97/23/EC).
5. Assembly and commissioning
CAUTION
Risk of accident due to incorrect installation
fInstall the WMS 800 in an upright position.

CAUTION
Permanent damage to the sensor part due to welding on the sensor part.

fInstall the WMS 800 in parallel in a vertical section of the supply pipe as shown in
Figure 3, Page 8.
fInstall the WMS 800 in the boiler circuit upstream of the mixer.
fThe trigger level of the low water level protection system (see Figure 1, Page 6, No. 8)
must be at least 100 mm above the highest heated area of the heat generator.

RMains voltage is interrupted and secured against switching back on
The WMS 800 includes a two-way contact. Lack of water opens the contact connected in
series with the burner. The previously open contact closes so that a horn can be switched
on.
A 4-core cable, length 1.9 m, is connected to the upper part.
fWire any other required connections professionally to a junction box as shown in
Figure 4, Page 9.
fImplement any connecting pipes/cables, which are not part of the scope of supply, in
min. DN 20 or ¾".
5.2 Starting up the product
fPressthe“Release”buttonafterllingandventingthesystem.
ÄThe system is switched on.
5.3 5.3 Functional check
The functional check can be performed without reducing the water level.
1. Press the test button. See Figure 1, Page 6, No. 5.
ÄThe burner shuts off.
2. Switch on again by pressing the release button.

6. Maintenance
fCarry out the functional check regularly.
If the power supply cable is defective: The power supply cable must be replaced by the
manufacturerusingspecialcable(150°Ctem-peratureresistance).Replacementonlyby
the manufacturer or after sales service.
7. Decommissioning and disposal
1. Switch off the supply voltage.
2. Remove the product (see Chapter 5, Page 8; steps in reverse order).
3. To protect the environment, this product must not be disposed of with unsorted
domestic waste. Dispose of the product accord-ing to local regulations.
This product consists of materials which can be recycled by recycling specialists. We have
designed the electronics to use easily separa-ble materials.
If you do not have the opportunity to dispose of the used equipment properly, please
contact us to agree disposal or return.
8. Warranty
The manufacturer’s warranty is 24 months from the date of purchase for this product.
Claims can be made in any country in which this product is sold by the manufacturer or an
authorized reseller.
