WELCOME

As a consumer electronics company, Harman Kardon dates

back to the days of monaural sound and vacuum tubes. And

yet here we are, still going strong after more than 50 years,

still headed by our founder, Dr. Sidney Harman, and still

following our own path, in our own way. The question is, can a

brand revered by the very first audiophiles possibly

command the respect of the iPod® generation? We’re

delighted you asked.

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

Ludwig Mies van der Rohe borrowed “less is more” from the poet

Robert Browning, implementing that aesthetic in his building designs.

We borrowed it from Mies. While minimalism has become a major force

in architecture, music and design, it has also been one of our guiding

principles from the very beginning. At Harman Kardon, we believe that

good design consists of essential elements presented in their purest

form, with an absence of excess or embellishment. We could go on and

on about this, but that would be icing on the cake. We don’t do icing.

/ DIGITAL MEDIA CENTERS

It has long been a dream to create a media server that works like an entertainment

device, not a computer. This ideal player would be conversant in a universe of digital

storage technologies and formats, serving as the one go-to device to finally bridge the

gaping DVD/CD/music system/cell phone/camera divide. This is no longer just a dream –

behold, the Harman Kardon Digital Media Centers.

DMC 1000

HHaarrddDDrriivvee

Smaller but vastly smarter and better looking than your average CD storage rack, the DMC 1000 will digitize, catalogue and

store as many as 60,000 songs as you play them, allowing you to banish all those aging jewel cases to the attic. It will also let

you distribute four separate audio streams from your music library to different locations in your home. With touch-sensitive front-

panel controls (the ultimate no-button design), a concealed front-panel USB jack and hidden memory card slots, the DMC 1000

will even let you transfer your music for use in portable players, card-equipped cars and cell phones. And your iPod? Full

audio/video playback and charging with The Bridge universal dock (sold separately and very much worth it).

DMC 250

DDiiggiittaallMMeeddiiaaCCeenntteerrWWiitthhPPrrooggrreessssiivvee--SSccaannDDVVDD--VViiddeeoo//AAuuddiiooPPllaayybbaacckk

Any device that aspires to be called a digital media center ought to be a welcoming home base for all your digital gear – your

portable music player, your camera, your cell phone, your what-have-you. With a front-panel USB jack and CF, SD, MMC and

Memory Stick®card slots, the DMC 250 has you covered. Connect an external hard drive to access your entire music library.

Refresh or reload any or all of your digital devices on a whim. Or simply enjoy DVD-Video or DVD-Audio playback of your favorite

entertainment in all its full-spectrum glory.

TECHNICAL PHILOSOPHY

Harman Kardon was delivering high bandwidth before most people

realized it was a good thing. Technology leaders can only lead by example,

and we’ve been setting a series of very good examples for more than

50 years. Many of the technologies found in today’s finest amplifiers

were introduced by Harman Kardon. And we’ve always been quick to

adopt and improve on any good ideas we didn’t actually think of ourselves.

It doesn’t happen often, you understand, but it happens.

/ AUDIO/VIDEO RECEIVERS

A maximum number of options, a minimum number of buttons. Harman Kardon A/V

receivers employ the industry’s most advanced technologies to optimize the audio and

video clarity of any entertainment source, old or new. Yet even certified technophobes will

discover – once they stop trembling – that they can operate them successfully.

AVR 745

Connecting the dots to create the perfect picture. Today’s home entertainment systems are likely to

include a variety of sources and formats and, to make the most of them, they need to work together.

That’s what the AVR 745 is all about. HDMI single-wire connectivity? Times two. DCDi®by Faroudja

processing? Yes, with complete adjustments for each video input. iPod playback and navigation?

Check, with The Bridge universal dock and TC 30 remote. XM Ready®and USB-capable? Yes and yes.

With 85 watts of true power to drive each of seven channels, dual subwoofer outputs (the “.2” in 7.2),

and the EzSet/EQ™II system to precisely tune the system’s performance parameters to the

requirements of your room, the AVR 745 is ideal for a large-scale home theater or a truly impressive

2-channel music system. Or both.
