1 Introduction

The ID3000/ID2000 Fire Panel Configuration

Tool (PN: 020-558) allows the userto:

a. Configurepanel settings, loop devices,the

ControlMatrix and anetwork by usinga PC

remotefrom the fire panel.

b. Receivethe existing configuration from the

fire panel to the PC, and send a new or

edited configuration from the PC to the fire

panel.

c. Configure an IDR-6Arepeater.

ThroughoutthismanualtheID3000/ID2000Fire

Panel Configuration Tool is referred to as ‘the

Tool’ and the fire panel as ‘the panel’.

Be aware that...

Thismanualisnotintendedtobeafiredetection

system design guide and should only be used

by (or under the supervision of) a qualified

systemdesign engineer.

It is assumed that the system has been

designedin accordance with the requirements

of EN54 Part 14, BS 5839 Part 1:1988 and

otherlocalcodesofpracticethatareapplicable.

Some features of the panel may, if used

inappropriately,contravenetherequirementsof

EN54. This manual includes warnings (see

exampleopposite)wherethereisthepossibility

ofsuch an occurrence.

1.1 PC Specification

The minimum specification for the PC is:

a. PentiumClass Processor.

b. Windows XP with service pack 2 with

128MBmemory.

c. 120MB disk space available.

d. CD-ROM.

e. SVGA 1024 x 768 colour display.

Note: To ensure that the Tool’s windows are

all displayed correctly, the PC’s Control

Panel/Display/Appearancetab/Scheme

option must be left at its default setting.

1.2 Installation

To install the Tool:

1TheCD should auto-run (if it does not, click

on‘Setup.exe’).

2Follow the on-screen prompts to complete

the process.

1.3 Starting the Tool

Doone of:

a. Double-click on the Tool icon.

b. Select ‘Programs/Notifier/ID Series

ConfigurationTool’fromthePC’s‘Start’menu.

The Tool uses standard windows methods of

opening, closing, selecting etc.

1.3.1 Authentication Option

IftheToolis authenticated, upon firstcommuni-

cation with any panel using panel software

version4.21eoraboveanauthenticationcode

is sent to the panel. Subsequently, that panel

can only communicate with an authenticated

version of the Tool. If panel authentication is

not required, do not authenticate the Tool. To

authenticatetheTool:

2Notifier will e-mail the electronic passcode

request form back yo your company’s

authorised representative with the licence

key (valid for a specific PC only).

IftheToolislaterinstalledonadifferentphysical

driveor partition, orif a licence expiry warning

is displayed (given at 30 and 7 days), the

registrationprocedure mustbe repeated.

authentication status of theTool.

1.4 Connecting a PC to the Panel

Useasuitabledatacommunicationscable.The

panel requires a male RS232 9-way D-type

connectionfrom thecable.Toconnect the PC:

Caution: Direct connection of a PC to the panel’s

RS232 connector P1 will cause an earth

fault with potential damage to the PC.

Either use an isolated RS232 link or

(temporarily) disable the fault monitoring

circuit (steps 1 and 2 below). If an earth

fault already exists (LED next to link JP1

illuminated yellow), DO NOT connect

additional equipment likely to cause earth

faults as damage may result (i.e. inhibiting

the monitoring will not protect the

equipment).

1Disablethe earth fault monitoring circuit by

removing the jumper link on JP1 (A) at the

topright-hand corner ofthe Base PCB.The

PCB is marked ‘EFD’ above the link.

2Wait for at least one minute after disabling

thefaultmonitoringcircuit,thenusethedata

communications cable to connect the PC

tothe RS232 connectorP1 (B)on the Base

PCB.

3When the data transfer is complete (either

from panel to PC or PC to panel, see

Section 1.5.7),disconnect the PCfrom the

panel.

4Enable the earth fault monitoring circuit by

replacingthejumperonJP1.Tocomplywith

EN54-2: 8.2.4c,earthfaultmonitoringMUST

beenabled.

EN54-2:8.2.4c

EarthFaultMonitoring

isrequired.

Incorrectconnectionscould

resultin damagetothe

commsportofthePC.The

panel’sRS232connector

P1isNOTanisolatedport.
