PROPER SAFE USE

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Your Honeywell Waterproof Fire Safe will provide years of safe and secure protection for

your valuables, important documents and other personal items. All Honeywell safes are

designed and built using the highest manufacturing standards to ensure maximum user

satisfaction under a variety of conditions. With proper care, your Honeywell safe will provide

“Peace of Mind” for many years to come.

WELCOME

Honeywell Waterproof Fire Safes are designed to protect paper documents and ﬁles from

heat and moisture damage due to exposure to ﬁre and water.

Fire Protection

Independent testing veriﬁed the interior temperature remains below 350º F (177ºC) for

thirty minutes when outside temperature is up to 1550ºF (843ºC).

Water Protection

Independent testing veriﬁed that the interior remains dry when completely submerged

for up to 8 hours with up to 50mm of water above the safe.

IMPORTANT: Before using your new safe, it should be opened and aired out for at

least 30 minutes to allow the waterproof seal to decompress and perform as intended.

WARNING: This safe is not intended for the storage of medications, pearls, ﬁrearms,

ammunition, or combustible items of any kind.

When properly maintained, your safe will continue to operate for many years. In order to

ensure optimum performance of your safe, please follow these simple precautions:

CLEAN HANDS - Never attempt to operate the digital keypad if your hands have

excessive dirt, debris or liquids on them.

CLEAN SAFE – To clean the surface of your safe, it is recommended that you use a mild

cleaner (e.g., window cleaner) to avoid scratching or discoloring the surface. Always wipe

dry and NEVER use abrasive cleansers on the safe or digital keypad.

MOISTURE – We recommend that you place delicate items such as pictures or

documents and valuable possessions into an air-tight container before storing them in

your safe. Avoid placing your safe in areas of high humidity. For optimum performance,

the safe should be opened and aired out for at least 30 minutes every two weeks.

INTERIOR MOISTURE WARNING

IMPORTANT: For optimum performance, Waterproof Fire Safes should be opened and aired

out for at least 30 minutes every two weeks to prevent any build up of moisture inside. It is

recommended to occasionally do this for longer periods. This will balance the humidity difference

inside and outside and allow any excess moisture trapped inside to escape. If you do not open

Waterproof Fire Safes on a regular basis to let them air out, you may begin to notice a musty

smell, especially on paperwork. The manufacturer will not be responsible for any damage or loss of

items placed in Waterproof Fire Safes due to moisture. Proper care and preventative maintenance

of Waterproof Fire Safes is the owner’s responsibility. The owner should understand that this is

required to assure continued levels of protection and trouble-free performance during the lifetime.

The batteries must be installed before using your safe. The battery compartment is inside the safe

and opened by lifting the tab located at the bottom.

1. Remove battery compartment cover (Figure 1).

2. Insert 4 “AA” batteries. Make sure that the batteries are installed in the correct direction (+ and -)

with regard to polarity (Figure 2).

3. Replace the battery cover (Figure 3).

4. Leave the door open and proceed to the “Testing Digital Lock” section on next page.

GETTING STARTED

1. Slide the override key cover up (Figure 1).

2. Insert the override access key into the lock (Figure 2).

3. With the key inserted, turn clockwise to the right (Figure 3).

4. Turn handle to the right and pull safe door open (Figure 4).

5. Turn key counterclockwise to return to locked position (Figure 5).

6. Remove override access key and store it in a safe place away from the safe. Replace the

cover over the key lock, leave safe door open, and proceed to “Install Batteries”.

IMPORTANT: IF YOU DO NOT RETURN THE KEY TO THE LOCKED POSITION THE

SAFE WILL REMAIN UNLOCKED (FIGURE 5)

1. With the door open, press and hold the lock release button on the inside edge of the safe door (Figure 1).

2. While holding the lock release button, turn the handle to the left, to place the bolts in the locked

position (Figure 2).

3. Enter the preset factory code 159 followed by the *key (Figure 3).

4. If the code is entered correctly, the LED will turn green (Figure 4).

5. You have 5 seconds to turn the handle to the right to retract the bolt into the unlock position

(Figure 5).

6. Press and hold the lock release button and turn handle to the left to put the bolts in the locked

position.

7. Leave the door open and proceed to the “Programming New User Code” section below.

1. Locate and press the red programming button on the inside of the door (Figure 1).

2. After you have pressed the red programming button, the LED will ﬂash orange (Figure 2).

3. Enter your new 3 to 8 digit personal passcode followed by the *key (Figure 3.).

4. Immediately reenter the new passcode and press the *key to conﬁrm.

5. If both passcodes match, the LED will turn green and the new passcode is set (Figure 4).

6. If both passcodes do not match, the LED will ﬂash red and revert to the original code (Figure 5).

7. Leave door open.

TESTING NEW USER CODE

1. With the door open and in the locked position(Figure 1) , enter the new personal passcode

followed by the *key (Figure 2).

2. If the new code is entered correctly, the LED will turn green (Figure 3).

3. You have 5 seconds to turn the handle to the right to retract the bolt into the unlock position (Figure 4).

LOCKING THE SAFE

1. Close the safe door (Figure 1).

2. Turn the handle to the left, to place the bolts in the locked position (Figure 2).

3. Safe will automatically lock after 5 seconds.

3. Check to ensure safe is locked by attempting to turn the handle to the unlocked position.

IMPORTANT: IF YOU DO NOT RETURN THE KEY TO THE LOCKED POSITION THE

SAFE WILL REMAIN UNLOCKED

1. In the locked position(Figure 1) , enter the personal passcode followed by the *key (Figure 2).

2. If the new code is entered correctly, the LED will turn green (Figure 3).

3. You have 5 seconds to turn the handle to the right to retract the bolt into the unlock position (Figure 4).

4. You may also use the included Override Access key to unlock the safe. (see page 7).

PREPARE FLOOR FOR ANCHORING

ANCHORING SAFE TO FLOOR

1. Select a suitable and convenient location for your safe.

2. Empty the safe, tilt the safe onto its back side and open the safe Door.

3. Lift the Mounting Hole Cap out of the safe and set aside (Figure 1).

4. Stick a screwdriver into the hole to punch-out the bottom hole cover plug (Figure 2).

NOTE: Set the Mounting Hole Cap aside and replace after the Safe has been mounted.

4. Turn safe back onto its feet and place your safe in the desired location for mounting,

5. Mark the drilling point on the ﬂoor surface with a pen or pencil through the hole (Figure 3).

6. Move the safe aside to clear the marked spot for drilling and proceed to page 6.

NOTE: If the ﬂoor is carpeted, cut a hole in the carpet at least 1” around the carpet to expose

the wood or concrete ﬂoor that you will be drilling.

You may bolt your safe to the ﬂoor for added theft protection and resistance to tipping. Your

safe has a bolt-down hole in the ﬂoor panel and mounting hardware is provided for securing to

ﬂoors. .

NOTE: Bolting/unbolting of the unit is at the consumer’s expense and discretion. LH Licensed

Products, Inc. is not responsible for any costs incurred if the unit has to be replaced. If you have

any questions about mounting the safe, please check with your local home center/hardware

retailer or independent contractor.

ANCHORING SAFE TO A CONCRETE FLOOR

1. Use a 1/2” Concrete Drill Bit drill a hole in the ﬂoor with a depth of 15/8” (Figures 1 & 2).

IMPORTANT: Hole must be 15/8” deep (minimum) to properly insert the Drop-in Anchor, and

no deeper than 13/4” to keep the anchor in position for the Hex Head Bolt (Figure 2).

2. Remove any excess dust from the hole.

3. Insert the Drop-in Anchor into the hole (slotted side down) and tap into place using a hammer

until even with the ﬂoor surface (Figure 3).

4. Secure Drop-in Anchor by inserting an anchor punch or Phillips head screwdriver into the Drop-

in Anchor and hammering to lock into place and prevent it from turning when mounting the safe (Figure 4).

5. Place the safe back into position lined up over the hole (Figure 5).

6. Insert the supplied Hex Head Bolt through the bolt-hole from the inside of the safe and into

the Drop-in Anchor (Figure 6).

7. Secure the Hex Head Bolt tightly using a socket wrench (Figure 7).

8. Replace the Mounting Hole Cap and press ﬁrmly into place (Figure 8).

ANCHORING SAFE TO A WOOD FLOOR

1. Use a 1/4” Wood Drill Bit to drill a hole in the ﬂoor with a depth of 11/2” (Figure 1).

2. Place the safe back into position lined up over the hole (Figure 2).

3. Insert a Wood Lag Bolt through the bolt-down hole from the inside of the safe and into the

ﬂoor hole (Figure 3).

4. Secure the Wood Lag Bolt tightly using a 9/16” socket wrench (Figure 4).

5. Replace the Mounting Hole Cap and press ﬁrmly into place.(Figure 5).

SECURE LOCKOUT PERIOD

If the wrong user code is entered 3 consecutive times in a row, the keypad will automatically lockout

and will not be able to open the safe with the keypad for 15 minutes. During this period, the safe can be

opened and locked with the Override Access key.

LOST OR FORGOTTEN USER CODES

If the user code is lost or forgotten, you may open the safe using the Override Access key and use the

red reset button to reprogram the 38 digit user code. The instructions for opening the safe with the

override access key are located below.

OVERRIDE ACCESS KEY

INSTALLING REMOVABLE SHELF

Your safe is equipped with an Override Access key which allows immediate access in case you

forget your user codes or the batteries need to be installed or replaced.

1. Slide the override key cover up (Figure 1).

2. Insert the Override Access key into the lock (Figure 2).

3. With the key inserted turn clockwise to the right (Figure 3).

4. Turn handle to the right and pull safe door open (Figure 4).

5. Turn key counterclockwise to return to locked position (Figure 5).

6. Remove override access key and store it in a safe place away from the safe. Replace the

cover over the key lock.

IMPORTANT: IF YOU DO NOT RETURN THE KEY TO THE LOCKED POSITION THE

SAFE WILL REMAIN UNLOCKED (FIGURE 5)

1. Insert Shelf Clips into the recesses on the inside of the safe on the same level (Figure 1).

2. Place removable shelf on clips (Figure 2).

3. Gently press down on shelf until level and secure (Figure 3).
