Installing Cables
Install the DC power cable.
b
1. Switch off the circuit breaker on the PEM.
2. Loosen screws on the PEM's protective cover and remove the protective cover.
Install the PGND cable.
a
Use a PGND cable to connect the ground point on the rear of the subrack to the nearest ground
point on a cabinet mounting bar.
The subrack provides two ground points on the left side on the rear panel. If the subrack is used in North America, connect
both the ground points. If the subrack is used in other regions, connect one of the ground points.
3. Connect the OT terminal of the blue DC power cable and the OT terminal of the black DC
power cable to the wiring terminal marked NEG(-) and the wiring terminal marked RTN(+) on
the PEM, respectively. Tighten the screws.
4. Install the protective cover on the PEM and tighten the screws.
5. Install the power cable for the other PEM in the same way.
Note
3
Installing Cables
1. Take a cable clip out of the installation
accessory package and install it on theAC
PSU.
Install the AC power cable.
c
a
C2. Fixed AC power cable (in an 800-mm-deep cabinet)
1. Secure the power cable on the AC PSU
using a plastic binding strap.
2. Secure other AC power cables in the
same way.
C1. Fixed AC power cable (in a 1000-mm-deep cabinet)
2. Open the power cable clip and slide it outwards.
3. Insert the power cable into the clip.
4. Slide the clip to the joint between the AC
power cable and the connector.
5. Close the clip to fasten the AC power cable.
6. Secure other AC power cables in the same way.
Installing Optical Modules and Cables
1. Hold the optical module and insert it to position until it cannot move forward.
2. Insert the optical fiber into the optical module until the spring snaps into position.

Installing the CE6855 Switch
Install the PGND cable on the switch.
a
1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to
loosen the M4 screws on the
ground terminal of the switch.
2. Select a PGND cable near the
installation position.
3. Use the Phillips screwdriver to
secure one end of the OT6-4
bare crimp terminal of the PGND
cable to the ground terminal of
the switch.
b
b
1. Hold the switch with both hands and move it into the cabinet.Align the rear mounting ears
with the slide rails and slowly slide the switch along the slide rails.
2. Fasten the front mounting ears to the floating nuts with the Phillips screwdriver and M6 screws.
Install the power module and fan module.
c
Install the switch in the cabinet.
1. Remove the filler panel.
3. Install the fan module in the same way as installing the power module.
4. Connect the power cable to the power module.
Installing the Ethernet Cable
Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the port (for connecting another NE) in the subrack
and the other end to another NE as required.
Optical fiber connections between the OSTA5.0 (3 U) subrack and the switch:
•Cables 1 and 2: Used for connecting the LAN0 ports
on the two MSXA boards to the CE6855 and carrying
CGP O&M traffic.
•Cables 3 and 4: Two of the 1-to-4 optical fibers. Used
for connecting the eFabric LAN0 ports on the two
MSXA boards to the CE6855 and carrying service
traffic and EPC O&M traffic.
2. Install the power module.
Note
4
Checking Hardware Installation
Check the power cable and PGND cable installation.
a
No. Check List
1–48 V power cables are blue, RTN power cables are black, and PGND cables are green and yellow.
They can also be designed according to the customers' requirements.
2 The PGND cables and the power cables must be in good condition without any joints.
3 All power cables and PGND cables are properly connected.
4 The bare wires and OT terminals at the wiring terminals are tightly wrapped with PVC insulation tapes
or heat shrink tubing.
5 Power cable engineering labels are attached at both ends of the power cables and PGND cables.
5
Check the signal cable installation.
b
No. Check List
1 All the signal cables have passed the continuity check before they are routed.
2 The signal cables are connected correctly and the connectors are installed securely.
3 The cabling route complies with the engineering design. Signal cables are bound separately from power cables.
4 The signal cables are not placed on the heat dissipation section of the cabinet.
5 Sufficient slack is provided in cables for strain relief.
6 Cables should be straight and smooth. Cables in the cabinet are not crossed and cables outside the cabinet are
bundled.
7 Surplus cables are reserved, and the tie wraps are tied properly and trimmed so that there are no sharp edges.
8 The signal cables are bound in proper positions and cable ties are bound with proper spacing.
9 Both ends of each cable are labeled clearly, and the labels and cable ties face the same direction. It is
recommended that a label be affixed 20 mm away from the connector.
Check the connector and socket installation.
c
No. Check List
1 Cable plug latches are locked firmly.
2 The pins of the network cable sockets and the HEADER sockets are complete and straight.
3 Spare connectors are covered with protective caps.
Conducting a Power-On Check
Check the DC power supply to the subrack.
a
a1. Subrack check before power-on
1. The subrack power cable is properly connected.
2. The PEM is not short-circuited.
3. The boards in the subrack are correctly installed.
4. The PEM circuit breaker of the subrack is
switched off.
The blue DC power cable connects to the NEG(-) wiring
terminal of the PDB and the NEG(-) wiring terminal of
the PEM in the subrack. The black DC power cable
connects to the RTN(+) wiring terminal of the PDB and
the RTN(+) wiring terminal of the PEM in the subrack.
Note
