1.1 Fundamentals

Applicability

The documentation is part of the product and applies to all persons who perform activities on the

product. Before any activities are undertaken, the documentation must have been read and understood

in its entirety. Instructions must be precisely complied with.

Storage

The documentation must be stored near to the PRO Compact and must be accessible to the user at all

times.

Brand names and trademarks

Product designations and/or company names listed in this document may be registered trademarks of

the respective companies. The same also applies to (mostly common or colloquial) short names and

abbreviations relating to the product.

Gender-specific writing style

For the purposes of better readability the use of masculine and feminine linguistic forms has been

avoided. All personal designations apply equally to all genders.

2.1 Selecting personnel and required qualifications

Persons working with the PRO Compact must satisfy the following requirements:

•They must be at least 18 years of age.

•They must be adequately trained for the relevant activities.

•They must be aware of and comply with relevant technical regulations and safety guidelines.

The operating company will decide on the required qualifications for the personnel:

•Operating personnel

•Maintenance personnel

•Repair personnel

The operating company must ensure that only authorised personnel work on the PRO Compact.

Personnel to be trained, taught, instructed or personnel currently undergoing general training must be

supervised by an experienced person at all times when working on the PRO Compact.

All work on the PRO Compact must be performed only by trained specialist personnel complying with all

applicable regulations for accident protection (UVV).

2.2 Workplace

The workplace for the PRO Compact is located in front of the operating terminal. The operating company

must ensure a suitable workplace which complies with the relevant regulations and is sufficiently well lit.

2.3 Instruction manual

The operating company must ensure that this instruction manual is within immediate reach of the

personnel engaged in installation, operation and maintenance of the PRO Compact at all times.

2.4 Intended use

The PRO Compact is intended to be used for determining the growth status of crops and for optimising

crop management.

Any other use is classified as improper.

Performance of any conversions or installation of add-ons without explicit written approval of the

manufacturer, use of non-original spare parts, and performance of repairs by any persons or companies

not authorised by the manufacturer, as well as modifications (operating system, software and hardware)

may render the warranty void.

Updates to the operating system must carry the explicit approval of the manufacturer. Mass storage

devices that are to be connected to the operating terminal must be classified as free from malware and

malicious code using state-of-the-art technology.

2.5 Safety information

2.5.1 Danger due high magnetic forces at the radiation sensor

Risk of injury due to high magnetic forces. There is a powerful magnet on the underside of the radiation

sensor.

Placing fingers on the metal plate or on another metallic surface can lead to crushing of fingers and/or

material damage.

Electromagnetic fields can affect pacemakers and defibrillators and cause them to malfunction. The

radiation sensor of the PRO Compact is attached to the anchor plate by a powerful magnet.

People and animals with pacemakers and/or defibrillators must be kept away by a sufficient safety

distance.

Electronic devices may be damaged by the electromagnetic field.

•When the radiation sensor is being installed, persons with heart pacemakers must keep 0.5 metres

away at all times.

•Keep electronic devices away whilst the radiation sensor is being installed.

•The radiation sensor must be stored in such a way that no damage can occur as a result of the

magnetic field. During this time the magnet of the radiation sensor must be fully covered by a metal

plate (which is at least as large as the anchor plate).

2.5.2 Safety hazard when in road traffic

Distraction of the driver by operating the PRO Compact

The device may be operated only when the vehicle is stationary, so that the driver is not distracted so as

to fail to notice features such as obstacles.

Comply with the permissible width of the vehicle

The total width of the vehicle permissible under road traffic regulations must not be exceeded. If need

be, the reflection sensors must be attached in such a way that they can be folded in when the vehicle is

being driven on public roads.

Secure attachment of the sensors to the vehicle

The driver is responsible for the secure attachment of the sensors to the vehicle. All brackets must be

regularly checked for proper positioning and stability. If there is any doubt regarding stability, the vehicle

may not be driven until the attached components have been re-secured or removed. Otherwise they may

fall off and endanger other road users, or cause material damage.

Secure attachment of the cables to the vehicle

The driver is responsible for the secure attachment of the assembly cables to the vehicle. All cable

brackets must be regularly checked for proper positioning and stability. If there is any doubt regarding

their security, the vehicle may not be driven until it has been ensured that no danger can arise as a result

of the cables. Otherwise they might pose a risk when entering and exiting the vehicle (risk of tripping).

They might also fall off and endanger other road users or cause material damage.

2.5.3 Damage to the environment or crops due to excessive application

quantities

Application quantity set too high

If the application quantity is set too high, this can result in damage to crops and the environment. The

maximum application quantity for the application scenario must not be exceeded. Manufacturer’s

specifications regarding this must be complied with.

Application quantity set correctly; nevertheless too much is distributed

Incorrect parameter settings may lead to communication with the application device failing to satisfy the

requirements. Every time the components connected to the ISOBUS are changed, it must be ensured that

the application quantity calculated by the PRO Compact corresponds to the quantity which is actually

distributed.

•Check the actual application quantity being delivered by the application device.

•If continuous feedback is provided by the application device, the actual application quantity

delivered during the distribution run must be monitored.

2.6 Adhesive labels

The following adhesive labels are applied to the PRO Compact. The operating company must check that

these adhesive labels are always present and are in perfectly legible and recognisable condition.
