150 Watt Temporary Manhole Mount Explosion Proof LED Fixture

Tank Nozzle Mount Lighting - 12" Drop

Instruction Manual

This explosion prooflightis designed for illumination of industrial locations. It uses the latest in

solidstate lighting technology forlong life, low maintenance, and high efficiency.

The unique design focuses the light where itis needed most, giving improved efficiency over a

conventional HID luminaire.

An internal, universal input, power-factor-corrected switch-mode supplyallowsit to be used from

any nominalvoltage within range for the model purchased. Voltage range includes100-277V AC

50/60 Hz.There is novariation in light output between voltages.

WARNING

To avoidthe risk of fire, explosion or electric shock, thisproduct should be installed, inspected

and maintained by a qualified electricianonly, in accordancewith all applicableelectrical codes.

To avoidelectric shock:

•Be certain electrical power is OFF before and during installation and maintenance.

•Luminaire must be connected to a wiring system with an equipment-grounding conductor.

To avoid explosion:

•Make sure the supply voltage is within the luminaires’ voltage rating.

•Ensure the marked T rating is less than the ignition temperature of the Hazardous

Atmosphere.

•Do not operate in ambient temperatures above those indicated on the luminaire nameplate.

•Do not operate if the lens is cracked or damaged. All fasteners should be properly seated.

For supply connections, use wire rated for at least 110°C

Recommended mounting height is 25-40 feet.

MOUNTING

This fixture is designed to be mounted through a 21” man-hole opening. This mounting system

provides an extremely versatile lighting option for those working in confined spaces such as rail cars,

storage tanks, ship tanks and the like where entry is through a 21" man-way opening. The light is

suspended 12" from the lip to lower the light source into the tank.

Lift fixture and place through manhole opening. Run cord to matching receptacle to energize fixture

and illuminate the work area. The light is instant-on and will illuminate once power is supplied. Ensure

no one is staring directly into the light prior to energizing.

WIRING (see attached wiring diagram)

This unit comes preconfigured in the selected voltage, beam spread, and explosion proof cord cap.

Run cord from light and plug into matching receptacle. Follow all applicable local, state, and National

Electrical Code for the hazardous area!

MAINTENANCE

Caution: To avoid personal injury, disconnect power to the light and allow the unit to cool down

before performing maintenance.

Warning: No user serviceable parts inside of fixture. Risk of electric shock. Removal of the lens

will void the warranty.

1. Perform visual, mechanical and electrical inspections on a regular basis. We recommend routine checks to be

made on a yearly basis. Frequency of use and environment should determine this. It is recommended to follow

an Electrical Preventive Maintenance Program as described in NFPA 70B: Recommended practice for Electrical

Equipment.

2. The lens should be cleaned periodically as needed to ensure continued photometric performance. Clean the

lens with a damp, non-abrasive, lint-free cloth. If not sufficient, use mild soap or a liquid cleaner.

3. Inspect the cooling fins on the luminaire to ensure that they are free of any obstructions or contamination

(i.e. excessive dust build-up). Clean with a non-abrasive cloth if needed.

4. Do not operate if the lens is cracked or damaged. All fasteners should be properly seated.

WARNING: ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY MUST BE “OFF” BEFORE AND DURING INSTALLATION AND

MAINTENANCE. INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE MUST BE PERFORMED BY A TRAINED AND

COMPETENT ELECTRICIAN.

If any part of the plug appears to be missing, broken, or show signs of damage—discontinue use immediately! This

condition could cause serious or fatal personal injury due to electrocution and/or equipment damage. Repair with the

proper replacement part(s) before continuing service.

During the inspections, perform the following steps:

1. Inspect all contact wire terminals for tightness and re-torque if necessary. NOTE: Discoloration due to excessive

heat is an indicator of potential issues and should be thoroughly investigated and repaired as necessary.

2. Explosion Proof Plugs: Check grounding and bonding for correct installation. Secure connections and retorque if

necessary.

3. Check gaskets for deterioration and replace if necessary.

4. Clean exterior surfaces to ensure the nameplates remain legible.

5. Inspect cable grip tightness to ensure proper cord/cable gripping.

6. Inspect all parts and replace those which are broken or excessively worn.

7. Check the contacts for signs of excessive arcing or burning and replace if necessary.

USE AND CARE

Unauthorized modification may impair the function and/or safety of the extension cord and could affect the life of the

equipment. Always check damaged or worn out parts before using the unit. When extension cord is not in use, store it in a

secure place. Inspect for good working condition prior to storage and before re-use.
