Getting the best from your

new steam generator...

• Safety first

Caution must be used when handling

this appliance as it does get very hot.

Always switch off the unit and allow

to cool before cleaning or storing.

•Boiler unit

WARNING: The product produces

steam which is pressurised. Never

unscrew the boiler filler cap whilst the

unit is pressurised. Steam will shoot

out and could burn you.

•Performance

Every 3 months fill the boiler with

fresh water (0.8L), rinse then empty.

Filter water is best as it reduces

limescale and prolongs the life of your

steam generator.Morphy Richards

water filters are widely available.

Alternatively use tap water.

Important safety

instructions

The use of any electrical appliance

requires the following common sense

safety rules.

Primarily there is danger of injury or

death and secondly the danger of

damage to the appliance. These are

indicated in the text by the following

two conventions:

•Do not use outdoors.

Children

• Children do not understand the

dangers associated with operating

electrical appliances. Never allow

children to use this appliance.

• Close supervision is necessary when

any appliance is used near children.

•This appliance is not intended to be

used by young children or infirm

persons unless they have been

adequately supervised by a

responsible person to ensure they

can use the appliance safely.

•Young children should be

supervised to ensure that they do

not play with the appliance.

Personal safety

• WARNING: Burns can occur from

touching hot metal parts, hot

water or steam. Use caution

when using your steam

generator. If your iron is placed

for a few moments on the iron

rest plate, this plate may reach

very high temperatures. In this

instance, do not touch the iron

soleplate or the iron rest plate

until the iron and the base unit

have cooled down.

• WARNING: To protect against the

risk of electric shock do not put

any part of the appliance in water

or in any other liquid.

•Do not use the vertical steam feature

on clothes that arebeing worn.

• Do not leave the steam generator

unattended whilst plugged in or on an

ironing board. Never allow the mains

lead to over hang the work surface or

ironing board.

•The socket should always be off

before plugging or unplugging from

the socket. Never yank the cord to

disconnect from the socket, instead,

grasp plug and pull to disconnect.

•Do not allow the power and steam

supply cord to touch hot surfaces.

Let the steam generator cool

completely beforeputting away.

•During ironing pauses and after use

always place the iron flat on the base

unit of the steam generator.

• Trailing cords are a hazard, keep them

out of the way to prevent accidents.

• The steam generator must not be

left unattended while it is connected

to the supply mains;

•The plug must be removed from the

socket-outlet before the water

reservoir is filled with water;

•The steam generator must be used

and rested on a stable surface; –

•When placing the iron on its base

unit, ensure that the surface on

which the base unit is placed is

stable;

•The iron is not to be used if it has

been dropped, if there are visible

signs of damage or if it is leaking

Other safety considerations

•Use the steam generator only for its

intended use.

• Never hold the generator base under

atap.

• Always disconnect the steam

generator from the electrical supply

when cleaning or when not in use.

• Do not operate the steam generator

with a damaged cordor if the iron has

been dropped or damaged. To avoid

the risk of electric shock, do not

disassemble the product, but

telephone Morphy Richards for

advice. Incorrect reassembly can

cause a risk of electric shock when

the steam generator is used.

• If the need arises to change the mains

cable on your steam generator or the

iron, please return to Morphy

Richards service department at the

address on the back page.

Special instructions

• If your steam generator does not

work, check the following points:

Has the temperaturecontrol been set

to the required temperature? Is the

plug in its socket? Is the plug itself or

the socket faulty? (Check by plugging

in another appliance).

• Is the dry/steam selection switch on

the base unit set to dry.

• To prevent damage to the textile

being ironed, follow the temperature

guide carefully. (Test the inside of the

hem of the garment).

• When ironing is complete, remove the

plug from the socket, and allow the

unit to cool beforestorage.

•WARNING The boiler may still be

pressurised and no attempt

should be made to remove the

boiler cap. Steam will escape and

you could get burnt.

• If you drop or severely knock your

steam generator this could cause

internal damage even if the outside

appears alright. Have it checked by a

qualified electrician.

•The temperature of accessible

surfaces may be high when the

appliance is operating.

Electrical requirements

Check that the voltage on the rating

plate of your appliance corresponds

with your house electricity supply

which must be A.C. (Alternating

current).

If the socket outlets in your home are

not suitable for the plug supplied with

this appliance the plug should be

removed and the appropriate one

fitted.

WARNING : The plug removed

from the mains lead, if severed,

must be destroyed as a plug with

abared flexible cord is hazardous

if engaged into a live socket

outlet.

WARNING: This appliance must

be earthed.

Each time the generator is used

from cold for steam ironing, set the

iron temperature dial to 3-dot and

the vari-steam to its mid position A.

Iron at this setting for a few minutes

then adjust the temperaturedial and

steam rate according to your

requirements.

Location

Locate the steam generator

horizontally on the iron rest plate of

your ironing board (if large enough)

or on a heat resistant stand at the

same height as your ironing board

or below it. Always ensure the

generator is on a firm surface when

ironing and when filling the boiler.

Setting up and filling

1Locate the generator on a horizontal

surface.

2Ensure the generator is

disconnected and depressurised.

3Unscrew the boiler filler cap and fill

with 0.7 to 0.8 litres of filtered water

or untreated tap water B.Boiler

capacity may differ slightly so its a

good idea to gauge the amount of

water your boiler will accept for

future reference.

IMPORTANT: Always use the funnel

supplied, do not take the boiler to a

tap.

WARNING: Never use water from

battery topping up fluid or water

containing any substance such

as starch or sugar or defrosted

water from a refrigerator.

Heat setting markings on the adjustable control dial of all Morphy Richards irons match those of the

International Textile Care Labelling Code.

4Fill the boiler, taking care that water

does not spill over. Remove any

excess water.

5Replace the boiler filler cap by

screwing on but don’t overtighten. If

the filler cap whistles, it is not tight

enough or the filler cap has not

been positioned correctly. In this

case switch off the boiler, allow it to

cool, then reposition the filler cap

correctly.

6Take care not to overfill if the steam

generator contains water.

Using

1Plug in at the mains socket.

• Check to see that the steam on/off

indicator light is 'off'.

2Press the power switch ·to the

'on' position, the indicator light in

the middle of the switch will

illuminate. Ensure that the iron

temperature control ¤is at the

correct setting for the material you

are ironing.

3Turnthe vari-steam control knob to

the mid position as shown C.Set

the temperature control dial ¤to 3-

dot.

4Allow the boiler to heat for about 4

minutes. The generator will be ready

to use for ironing when the boiler

ready indicator „illuminates and

the iron ready light ›on the iron

goes off.

• During ironing, the iron ready

indicator and the boiler ready

indicator light will cycle on-off.

Textiles and clothes are supposed to

carry ironing instructions. If they

don’tyou should follow the fabric

guide on the control dial of the iron,

be sureto test the temperatureby

ironing the hem of the garment or

similar area first. If you turn the

control dial down from a hot setting

to a cooler setting, wait until the iron

temperature has stablilised before

you continue ironing.

5Important note: If the product is

accidentally switched off while

ironing the boiler controls require

approximately 21/2 minutes to re-set

before steam ironing can be

resumed.

Steam ironing

1Ensure that you have filled the boiler

correctly. Allow the boiler to heat up.

2Consult the heat settings chart page

3, and select the position on the

temperature control dial that

corresponds to the fabric to be

ironed. The iron ready light ›

illuminates and the soleplate heats

up. Wait until the light goes out and

the boiler ready indicator on the

base unit „illuminates before

ironing.

3Toobtain steam, press the steam

control button ⁄and release. Press

the button down again and release

to stop the steam.

•It is recommended that everytime

the iron is used, the steam control

button be depressed away from the

ironing board. This enables the iron

todischarge cold water. This

process should also be applied

when you have not used steam for

several minutes.

• Alternatively you should first iron on

atowel to absorb any excess water

droplets.

•Perfect ironing can be obtained with

short bursts of steam.

• Note: Water droplets will be

discharged through the soleplate if

you have overfilled the boiler.

• The amount of steam can be varied

by adjusting the steam knob ‰.

If there is no steam

•In order to fill the boiler whilst in

use, follow the instructions detailed

page 6.

• The boiler has been accidentally

switched off and takes 21/2 minutes

to re-set.

Dry ironing

1Make sure the boiler is full of water.

2Press the power switch ·on the

boiler to the ON position

3Set the temperature control dial on

the iron ¤to the desired setting.

4Wait until the iron ready light ›

goes out.

5The iron is ready for dry ironing.

Note: Pressing the steam button ⁄

delivers steam to the iron, make

surethe temperaturedial on the iron

is set to the steam band.

Re-filling the boiler

• The red refill water indicator light ‚

will glow when the boiler requires

filling.

WARNING: Never unscrew the

boiler filler cap as long as the

boiler is under pressure.

Carry out the following procedure to

release the pressure.

1Press the steam button ⁄until the

steam stops coming out from the

soleplate. This may take several

minutes, then release the steam

button.

2Wait until the red refill water

indicator light comes on, then press

the steam button again to release

any residual steam.

3Switch off and unplug and wait 5

minutes.

4Very slowly unscrew the boiler filler

cap. If steam is heard escaping or

the cap whistles, stop unscrewing

the cap and wait until all the steam

has gone, then continue to slowly

unscrew the cap.

5Use the funnel provided and slowly

refill the boiler with water but take

carenot to overfill.

6Screw the boiler filler cap back on

until it is completely tight.

7Plug in the appliance. Wait for the

boiler ready light to glow,this

indicates that the steam is ready for

use.

WARNING: Never unscrew the

boiler filler cap when the

appliance is connected to the

power supply and whilst there is

pressure inside the boiler. Never

unscrew the filler cap during

ironing.

8 After ironing is completed,

always switch offthe steam

control ⁄.

Vertical steam ironing D

Hold the iron in a vertical position

between 1cm and 2cm away from

the item. Press the steam button,

this will create vertical steam. This

feature is especially useful for

getting creases out of hanging

clothes, curtains, wall hangings, etc.

Do not keep the steam control

button pressed down continuously,

short bursts of steam are sufficient.

Maintenance

IMPORTANT: The boiler should be

rinsed out after every 10-12 uses.

This will help to remove any scale

and prolong the life of your steam

generator.

Rinse the boiler with untreated tap

water. Your generator must be

disconnected, allowed to cool and

then emptied completely. Repeat

this process a few times.

To clean the mirror or stainless

steel finish soleplate

If your iron has been fitted with a

polished, mirror or stainless steel

soleplate, please follow the cleaning

instructions below:

1To keep the soleplate of your iron

clean and free of limescale, we

recommend that you use one of the

gentle chrome, silver or stainless

steel cleaners that are generally

available.

• Always follow the manufacturers

instructions on any soleplate

cleaner.

2Toclean offmelted-on man-made

fibre, ensure that the water tank is

empty and set the iron to the 3 dot

position.

3Pass the heated iron over a clean

piece of cotton, which will draw the

deposit off the surface.

Toclean the exterior

Allow to cool and wipe over with a

soft cloth, dampened with diluted

detergent (e.g. washing up liquid),

then dry with a clean dry cloth.

Storage

1Ensure the generator is

depressurised by operating the

steam button on the iron until no

further steam is escaping.

•Always make sure the steam switch

has been placed in the off position

before switching off the boiler.

2Unplug the generator and leave the

iron to cool off for 15 minutes

minimum. The iron must be placed

on the iron rest plate.

3When totally cool, empty any

remaining water from the boiler.

4The iron and boiler can now be

stored together.

It is important to retain the retailers

receipt as proof of purchase. Staple

your receipt to this back cover for

future reference.

Please quote the following

information if the product develops

afault. These numbers can be found

on the base of the product.

All Morphy Richards products are

individually tested before leaving the

factory. In the unlikely event of any

appliance proving to be faulty within

28 days of purchase it should be

returned to the place of purchase for

it to be replaced.

If the fault develops after 28 days

and within 24 months of original

purchase, you should contact the

Helpline number quoting Model

number and Serial number on the

product, or write to Morphy

Richards at the address shown.

You may be asked to returnacopy of

proof of purchase.

Subject to the exclusions set out

below (see Exclusions) the faulty

appliance will then be repaired or

replaced and dispatched usually within

7working days of receipt.

If for any reason this item is replaced

during the 2 year guarantee period, the

guarantee on the new item will be

calculated from original purchase date.

Therefore it is vital to retain your

original till receipt or invoice to indicate

the date of initial purchase.

To qualify for the 2 year guarantee the

appliance must have been used

according to the manufacturers

instructions. For example appliances

should have been regularly maintained.

Exclusions

Morphy Richards shall not be liable to

replace or repair the goods under the

terms of the guarantee where:

1 The fault has been caused or is

attributable to accidental use, misuse,

negligent use or used contrary to the

manufacturers recommendations or

where the fault has been caused by

power surges or damage caused in

transit.

2The appliance has been used on a

voltage supply other than that

stamped on the products.

3 Repairs have been attempted by

persons other than our service staff (or

authorised dealer).

4 Where the appliance has been used

for hire purposes or non domestic use.

5Morphy Richards are not liable to carry

out any type of servicing work, under

the guarantee.

6 Plastic filters for all Morphy Richards

kettles and coffee makers arenot

covered by the guarantee.

This guarantee does not confer any

rights other than those expressly set

out above and does not cover any

claims for consequential loss or

damage. This guarantee is offered as

an additional benefit and does not

affect your statutory rights as a

consumer.

•Bezpečnost na prvním místě

Při manipulaci s tímto spotřebičem je

třeba být opatrný, protože se velmi

ohřívá. Před čištěním nebo uložením

přístroj vždy vypněte a nechte

vychladnout.

• Jednotka kotle

VAROVÁNÍ: Výrobek vytváří páru,

která je pod tlakem. Když je jednotka

pod tlakem, nikdy neotvírejte plnicí

víko kotle. Pára prudce unikne a

mohla by vás popálit.

• Výkon

Každé tři měsíce naplňte kotel

čerstvou vodou (0,8 l) a potom ho

Bezpečnost osob

kapaliny,abystese chránili před

rizikem úrazu elektrickým proudem.

• Nepoužívejte svislé napařování na

oděvech oblečených na osobách.

•Nenechávejte generátor páry bez

dozoru, jestliže je připojený k síti

nebo na žehlicím prknu. Nikdy

nenechávejtesíťový kabel viset přes

okraj pracovního povrchu nebo

žehlicího prkna.

• Před zapojováním nebo odpojováním

kabelu musí být zásuvka vždy

vypnutá. Při odpojování ze zásuvky

nikdy netahejte za kabel, místo toho

uchopte zástrčku a vytáhněte ji.

• Zabraňte kontaktu síťového kabelu a

kabelu propřívod páry s horkými

povrchy. Před odložením nechte

generátor páry úplně vychladnout.

• Během přestávek při žehlení a po

použití vždy položte žehličku rovně

na základní jednotku generátoru

páry.

• Volně položené kabely jsou

nebezpečné, odkliďte je z cesty,

abyste předešli nehodám.

• Dokud je generátor páry připojen k
