Important safety

instructions

The use of any electrical appliance

requires the following common

sense safety rules.

Primarily there is danger of injury or

death and secondly the danger of

damage to the appliance. These are

indicated in the text by the following

two conventions:

Location

•Do not use outdoors.

• The iron must be used and rested

on a stable surface.

Children

• Children do not understand the

dangers associated with operating

electrical appliances. Never allow

children to use this appliance.

• Close supervision is necessary

when any appliance is used near

children.

•This appliance is not intended to be

used by young children or infirm

persons unless they have been

adequately supervised by a

responsible person to ensure they

can use the appliance safely.

• Young children should be

supervised to ensurethat they do

not play with the appliance.

Personal safety

•WARNING: Burns can occur

from touching hot metal parts,

hot water or steam. Use caution

when you turn a steam iron

upside down, there may be hot

water in the water tank.

•WARNING: Toprotect against

the risk of electric shock do not

put the appliance in water or in

any other liquid.

•Do not use the vertical steam

featureon clothes that are being

worn.

•Do not leave the iron unattended

whilst plugged in or on an ironing

board. Never allow the mains lead

to over hang the work surface.

• The socket should always be off

beforeplugging or unplugging from

the socket. Never yank the cord to

disconnect from the socket, instead,

grasp plug and pull to disconnect.

•Do not allow the cord to touch hot

surfaces. Let the iron cool

completely before putting away.

Loop cord loosely around the iron

before storing.

Other safety

considerations

• Use the iron only for its intended

use.

•Always disconnect the iron from the

electrical socket when filling with

water or emptying, and when not in

use.

• Do not operate the iron with a

damaged cord or if the iron has

been dropped, damaged or leaking.

To avoid the risk of electric shock,

do not disassemble the iron, but

telephone Morphy Richards for

advice. Incorrect reassembly can

cause a risk of electric shock when

the iron is used.

• IMPORTANT: When not in use, the

iron should never be left flat on an

ironing board.

• If you drop or severely knock your

iron this could cause internal

damage even if the outside appears

alright. Have it checked by a

qualified electrician.

• Toprevent damage to a textile

being ironed, follow the temperature

guide carefully and test the inside of

the hem of the garment.

• When placing the iron on its heel,

ensure that the surface on which

the heel is placed is stable

Electrical requirements

Check that the voltage on the rating

plate of your appliance corresponds

with your house electricity supply

which must be A.C. (alternating

current).

If the socket outlets in your home

are not suitable for the plug

supplied with this appliance the

plug should be removed and the

appropriate one fitted.

WARNING : The plug removed

from the mains lead, if severed,

must be destroyed as a plug

with a bared flexible cord is

hazardous if engaged into a live

socket outlet.

Where used, should the fuse in the

13amp plug require changing,a 13

amp BS1362 fuse must be fitted.

WARNING: This appliance must

be earthed.

1With the iron disconnected from the

mains supply,set the variable steam

control ‹to the ‘O’ position.

2Lift up the fill cap ›and using the

beaker provided fill the iron with

water B.

• One beaker fills the tank (400ml).

3Replace the fill cap.

4Always pour out the remaining

water after use.

In hardwater areas the use of

distilled or demineralised water is

recommended.

IMPORTANT: Never use battery

topping up fluid or water containing

any substances like starch, or sugar,

or defrosted water from a

refridgerator.

WARNING: When filling the iron

with tap water always use the

beaker provided. Never fill

directly under the tap.

Temperature control

1Plug in the iron and switch on at the

mains. The ‘power on’ indicator

lights „located in the back cover

will illuminate.

2Set the temperature control dial ‡

tothe temperature required, but

don’t start ironing immediately. The

indicator light under the control dial

shows that the iron is warming up.

3After a few minutes the iron will

stabilise at the required temperature

and the indicator light will go out.

Itwill cycle on-off during operation

to show that the iron is maintaining

the selected temperature.

It is always a good idea to begin

with cool fabrics and work up to

higher settings. An iron heats up

quicker than it cools down so you’ll

save time and electricity.

If you do adjust the temperature

from a hot setting to a cooler

setting, wait until the iron

temperature has stabilised before

you continue ironing.

Dryironing

You do not need to fill the iron with

water. Set the variable steam

control to the ‘O’ symbol.

•Any temperature setting may be

used depending on the garment.

•The spray feature may be used

provided there is water in the tank.

Steam ironing

The steam output can be varied

from low to high by sliding the

variable steam control.

•It is recommended that you use up

one beaker of water by operating

the iron’s steam and shot-of-steam

functions before ironing any clothes

as some dripping may occur while

the iron’s steam system is activated.

• The steam facility should only be

used on garments which are

suitable for ironing at 2 and 3 dot

setting.

• When ironing with the steam facility

at the 2 dot setting, the steam

output should be set at the low end

of the steam range.

Shot-of-steam

Press the shot-of-steam button ⁄

to obtain a burst of extra steam for

ironing out creases in heavy

material such as denim etc.

Temperature/fabric guide

Heat setting markings on the iron match those of the International Textile Care Labelling Code.

Textiles and clothes should carry ironing instructions, but if they don’t, follow this fabric guide.

Be sure to test the temperature by ironing the hem of the garment or similar area first.

•The shot-of-steam can be used

whilst dry ironing, providing there is

water in the tank, and the

temperature control is set within the

steam range.

• Do not use shot-of-steam at

temperatures below the steam

range shown on the control dial.

• For optimum steam quality, do not

operate the shot more than three

times in succession.

Vertical steam

Hold the iron in a vertical position

between 1cm and 2cm away from

the item C.Press the shot-of-

steam button, this will create

vertical steam.

• This feature is especially useful for

removing creases from hanging

clothes, curtains, wall hangings, etc.

• For optimum steam quality, do not

operate the shot more than three

times in succession.

Spray

Press the spray button ¤and aim

the spray of water at stubborn

creases. You can do this whilst dry

ironing providing there is water in

the tank. When using the water

spray it may be necessary to push

the button a few times to get the

spray pump primed.

No drip system

(certain models only)

Your iron is fitted with a no-drip

system which is designed to

prevent water escaping from the

soleplate when the iron is too cold.

• During use, the no-drip system may

emit a loud click, particularly during

heat-up or whilst cooling down. This

is perfectly normal and indicates

that the system is functioning

correctly.

Auto shut-off

(certain models only)

If the iron is fitted with the auto

shut-off function it will automatically

shut down after a set period.

•If the iron is left unattended in the

horizontal position it will shut down

after 30 seconds.

•If it is left in the vertical position it

will shut down after 8 minutes.

When this happens the two ‘power

on’ lights, located in the back cover

will flash to show that the iron is in

power-off mode.

Toreactivate the iron gently shake it

until the ‘power on’ lights stop

flashing and remain on.

The iron will then start to heat back

up to the temperature it is set to.

Life long anti-scale

system (certain models only)

The life long anti-scale system

reduces scale deposits and helps

prolong the life of the iron.

Emptying and storing D

When you have finished ironing,

unplug your iron. Ensure that the

variable steam control is set at the

‘O’ position, lift up the fill cap and

empty any remaining water out of

the filling hole.

Do not store in the box, but in an

upright position, so that any drops

of water remaining cannot leak out

and discolour the soleplate.

IMPORTANT: The flex can be

damaged if wound too tightly

around the iron after use. Make a

loose loop with the flex and wrap it

around the iron. The iron must be

cool beforewinding the flex and

storing on its heel.

CLEANING

Jet cleaning

Your iron has a built-in cleaning

system designed to keep the water

valve, steam chamber and steam

vents clear of lint and loose mineral

deposits. Jet clean should be used

after each period of ironing.

1Ensuring that there is a little water in

the tank, place the iron on its heel

and turn the temperature control

dial to the maximum setting.

2Wait for the temperature indicator

light to go out, then unplug the iron

and hold it about 6" (150mm) above

the sink in the ironing position.

3Press the shot-of-steam button

about 10 times in succession.

4Empty out any remaining water.

WARNING: Do not attempt to

descale the soleplate with

descaling products.

To clean a stainless steel

soleplate (certain models only)

To keep the soleplate of your iron

clean and free of limescale,we

recommend that you use one of the

gentle chrome, silver or stainless

steel cleaners that are generally

available. Always follow the

manufacturers instructions. Toclean

off melted man-made fibres set the

iron at 3 dot position and pass it

over a clean piece of cotton which

will draw the deposit off the surface.

Toclean a coated

soleplate (certain models only)

In the unlikely event of any man-

made fibre fusing to the soleplate,

set the iron at the 3 dot position and

pass it over a clean piece of cotton

which will draw the deposit offthe

surface.

Do not use scouring powder or

solution as this could cause

damage to the coating.

Toclean an aluminium

soleplate (certain models only)

To keep the soleplate clean and free

of limescale, make a paste of mild

scouring powder and a little water.

Apply a small amount to the

soleplate, rub and then remove with

adamp cloth. Wipe thoroughly with

aclean cloth.

Exterior

Allow the iron to cool and wipe over

with a damp cloth and mild

detergent, then wipe with a dry cloth.

Ifyour iron doesn't work

If the iron does not work, check the

following:

•Has the temperature control been

set to the required temperature?

•Is the plug in its socket?

• Is the plug itself or the socket

faulty? Check by plugging in

another appliance.

YOUR TWO-YEAR

GUARANTEE

It is important to retain the retailers

receipt as proof of purchase. Staple

your receipt to this back cover for

future reference.

Please quote the following

information if the product develops

afault. These numbers can be

found on the base of the product.

Model no. Serial no.

All Morphy Richards products are

individually tested before leaving the

factory. In the unlikely event of any

appliance proving to be faulty within

28 days of purchase it should be

returned to the place of purchase

for it to be replaced.

If the fault develops after 28 days

and within 24 months of original

purchase, you should contact

Morphy Richards quoting Model

number and Serial number on the

product, or write to Morphy

Richards at the address shown.

You will be asked to returnthe

product (in secure, adequate

packaging) to the address below

along with a copy of proof of

purchase.

Subject to the exclusions set out

below (1-6) the faulty appliance will

then be repaired or replaced and

dispatched usually within 7 working

days of receipt.

If for any reason this item is

replaced during the 2-year

guarantee period, the guarantee on

the new item will be calculated from

original purchase date. Therefore it

is vital to retain your original till

receipt or invoice to indicate the

date of initial purchase.

Toqualify for the 2-year guarantee

the appliance must have been used

according to the manufacturers

instructions. For example,

appliances must have been

descaled and filters must have been

kept clean as instructed.

Morphy Richards shall not be liable

to replace or repair the goods under

the terms of the guarantee where:

1The fault has been caused or is

attributable to accidental use,

misuse, negligent use or used

contrary to the manufacturers

recommendations or where the fault

has been caused by power surges

or damage caused in transit.

2 The appliance has been used on a

voltage supply other than that

stamped on the products.

3 Repairs have been attempted by

persons other than our service staff

(or authorised dealer).

4 Where the appliance has been used

for hirepurposes or non domestic

use.

5Morphy Richards arenot liable to

carry out any type of servicing work,

under the guarantee.

6 The guarantee excludes

consumables such as bags, filters

and glass carafes.

This guarantee does not confer any

rights other than those expressly set

out above and does not cover any

claims for consequential loss or

damage. This guarantee is offered

as an additional benefit and does

not affect your statutory rights as a

consumer.

Sécurité personnelle

•Lorsque vos prises de courant sont

équipées d’un interrupteur, il faut

toujours le mettre en position “arrêt”

avant de brancher ou de

débrancher l’appareil. Ne tirez

jamais sur le cordon pour le

débrancher du secteur. Il est

préférable de prendre la fiche

électrique et de tirer dessus pour

débrancher l’appareil.

•Ne laissez pas le cordon

d’alimentation en contact avec des

surfaces chaudes. Laissez le fer

refroidir complètement avant de le

ranger. Enroulez le cordon autour du

fer, sans trop serrer, avant de ranger

l’appareil.

Autres consignes de

sécurité

• Utilisez uniquement le fer pour

l’usage prévu.

• Débranchez toujours le fer du

secteur lorsque vous le remplissez

d’eau ou lorsque vous le videz, et

lorsqu’il n’est pas utilisé.

•N’utilisez pas le fer si le cordon

d’alimentation est endommagé, si

l’appareil a subi un choc violent, a

été endommagé ou présente des

fuites. Pour éviter tout risque de

choc électrique, ne démontez pas le

fer mais appelez Morphy Richards

pour demander conseil. En effet, si

vous remontez le fer

incorrectement, vous risquez de

subir un choc électrique lors de son

utilisation.

•IMPORTANT : Lorsque vous ne

l’utilisez pas, ne laissez jamais le fer

posé à plat sur une planche à

repasser.

• Si vous laissez tomber votre fer, ou

si vous lui faites subir un choc

violent, il pourra être endommagé à

l’intérieur, même s’il semble intact à

l’extérieur. Demandez à un

électricien qualifié de l’examiner.

• Pour éviter d’endommager un tissu

que vous repassez, respectez

soigneusement le guide des

températures et faites un essai à

l’intérieur d’un ourlet.

• Lorsque vous posez le fer sur son

talon, vérifiez que la surface sur

laquelle il est posé est stable

Les indications de température qui figurent sur le fer correspondent à celles du Code international des

étiquettes d’entretien des textiles.

Les textiles et vêtements doivent comporter une étiquette qui donne des consignes pour le repassage; si ce

n’est pas le cas, consultez ce guide. Commencez par faireun essai en repassant l’intérieur de l’ourlet du

vêtement ou une zone peu visible.

Alimentation électrique

Vérifiez que la tension indiquée sur

la plaque signalétique de l’appareil

correspond à l’alimentation

électrique de votre domicile, qui doit

être en courant alternatif (CA).

Siles prises électriques de votre

domicile ne correspondent pas à la

fiche fournie avec cet appareil, vous

devez enlever cette fiche et en

installer une qui convient.

DANGER : Si vous coupez le

cordon d’alimentation pour

enlever la fiche, vous devez

jeter cette dernière. En effet,

une fiche électrique avec un

cordon d’alimentation mis à nu

est dangereuse si elle est

branchée sur une prise

électrique sous tension.

Si votre prise contient un fusible et

si ce fusible 13 ampères doit être

remplacé, vous devez utiliser un

fusible BS1362 de 13 ampères.

DANGER : Cet appareil doit

1Lorsque le fer n’est pas branché au

secteur, mettez le variateur de

vapeur en position ‹“O”.

2Soulevez le bouchon de

remplissage ›et remplissez le

réservoir d’eau à l’aide du gobelet

fourni B.

•Un gobelet remplit le réservoir

(400 ml).

3Remettez le bouchon de

remplissage en place.

4Videz toujours l’eau restante après

usage.

Dans les régions où l’eau est

calcaire, il est recommandé d’utiliser

del’eau distillée ou déminéralisée.

IMPORTANT : N’utilisez jamais du

fluide pour batterie ou de l’eau

contenant une substance comme

de l’amidon ou du sucre, ou encore

de l’eau de décongélation de votre

réfrigérateur.

DANGER : Lorsque vous

remplissez le fer avec de l’eau

du robinet, utilisez toujours le

gobelet fourni. Ne remplissez

jamais le fer sous le robinet.

Thermostat

1Branchez le fer au secteur.Les

voyants de mise en route „qui se

trouvent sur le couvercle arrière

s’allumeront.

2Réglez le thermostat ‡sur la

température souhaitée, mais ne

commencez pas à repasser

immédiatement. Le voyant qui se

trouve sous le bouton de

commande indique que le fer est en

train de chauffer.

3Quelques minutes plus tard, le fer

se stabilisera à la température

souhaitée, et le voyant s’éteindra.

Le voyant se rallumera de temps à

autre pendant l’utilisation pour

montrer que le fer maintient la

température choisie.

Il est recommandé de commencer

par repasser les tissus exigeant un

fer doux avant de passer aux tissus

exigeant un fer plus chaud. Comme

un fer à repasser chauffe plus vite

qu’il ne refroidit, vous gagnerez

ainsi du temps et vous

économiserez de l’électricité.

Si vous baissez la température,

attendez que la températuredu fer

se soit stabilisée avant de continuer

votre repassage.

Repassage à sec

Il n’est pas nécessaire de remplir le

réservoir d’eau. Réglez le variateur

devapeur sur le symbole “O”.

• Vous pouvez utiliser n’importe quel

niveau de température, en fonction

dutissu à repasser.

• Vous pouvez utiliser le pulvérisateur

àcondition qu’il y ait de l’eau dans

leréservoir.

Repassage vapeur

Vous pouvez régler la quantité de

vapeur émise, de faible à

importante, en faisant coulisser le

variateur de vapeur.

• Nous vous recommandons d’utiliser

un goblet d’eau en faisant

fonctionner les fonctions vapeur et

jet de vapeur du fer avant de

repasser des vêtements. En effet,

des gouttes risquent de se former

pendant l’activation du système de

vapeur du fer.

• Utilisez la fonction vapeur sur les

vêtements pouvant être repassés

avec le thermostat en position 2 et

3points.

• Lorsque vous repassez avec la

fonction vapeur et au thermostat 2

points, réglez le variateur de vapeur

sur une position assez basse.

Jet de vapeur

Appuyez sur le bouton jet de vapeur

⁄pour obtenir un jet de vapeur

supplémentaire, afin de faire

disparaître les plis dans les tissus

épais comme le denim, etc.

• Vous pouvez utiliser le jet de vapeur

pendant que vous repassez à sec, à

condition qu’il y ait de l’eau dans le

réservoir et que le thermostat soit

réglé suffisamment haut pour que le

fer puisse émettrede la vapeur.

• N’utilisez pas le jet de vapeur

lorsque vous repassez à une

température inférieure à celle où le

fer peut émettre de la vapeur,

comme indiqué sur le bouton de

commande.

•Pour obtenir la meilleure qualité de

vapeur, n’utilisez pas le jet de

vapeur plus de trois fois de suite.

Vapeur verticale

Tenez le fer en position verticale, à

une distance de 1 à 2 cm du tissu

C.Appuyez sur le bouton vapeur :

le fer émet alors de la vapeur.

•Cette fonction est particulièrement

utile pour défroisser les vêtements

sur des cintres, les rideaux, les

tentures murales etc.

• Pour obtenir la meilleure qualité de

vapeur, n’utilisez pas le jet de

vapeur plus de trois fois de suite.

Pulvérisateur

Appuyez sur le bouton du

pulvérisateur ¤et dirigez le jet vers

les plis récalcitrants. Vous pouvez

Système anti-gouttes

(uniquement sur certains modèles)

Votre fer à repasser est équipé d’un

système conçu pour empêcher l’eau

de goutter de la semelle lorsque le

fer n’est pas assez chaud.

• Pendant l’utilisation du fer, le

système anti-goutte peut émettreun

‘clic’ sonore, notamment pendant le

chauffage ou le refroidissement.

Ceci est partfaitement normal et

indique que le système fonctionne

correctement.

Arrêt automatique

(uniquement sur certains modèles)

Si le fer à repasser est équipé de la

fonction d’arrêt automatique, il

s’arrêtera automatiquement après

une période donnée.

• Si vous laissez le fer sans l’utiliser

en position horizontale, il s’arrêtera

automatiquement après 30

secondes.
