Important

Read these instructions for use carefully before using the appliance and

save them for future reference.

◗Check if the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to

the local mains voltage before you connect the appliance.

◗Do not use the appliance if the mains cord, the plug or the

appliance itself is damaged.

◗If the mains cord is damaged, it must be replaced by Philips, a

service centre authorised by Philips or similarly qualified persons

in order to avoid a hazard.

◗Keep the appliance and its cord out of the reach of children. Do

not let the mains cord hang over the edge of the table or

worktop on which the appliance is standing.

◗Do not place the appliance on a hot surface and prevent the

mains cord from coming into contact with hot surfaces.

◗Never pour milk or coffee into the water tank.

Preparing for use

1Place the appliance on a horizontal surface.

2Put the plug in the wall socket.

C3Wind excess cord clockwise around the cord storage facility at

the back of the appliance.

Prevent the cord from coming into contact with hot surfaces.

Using the appliance

1Fill the cup or cups you are going to use with fresh, cold water.

C2Pour the water into the water tank.

Do not fill the water tank beyond the maximum level indication

('MAX').

C3Put a paper filter (no. 101) in the filter holder.

C◗Some types come with a permanent filter.

Never use a permanent filter and a paper filter at the same time.

BYou can also order the permanent filter separately (see chapter

'Ordering accessories’).

C4Put ground coffee (filter-fine grind) in the filter.

- If you grind the coffee beans yourself, do not grind them too finely.

- Take approx. two level measuring spoons of ground coffee for each

cup when you are using large cups (for instance the cups that come

with the appliance).

- Take one level measuring spoon of ground coffee for each cup when

you are using smaller cups.

- Of course you can adapt the amount of coffee to your own taste.

C5Place the cup or cups under the dispensing openings.

C6Switch the appliance on by pressing the button.

The on/off light goes on.

Do not remove the cup or cups while the appliance is brewing!

BDuring brewing, you can only switch the appliance off by removing the

mains plug from the wall socket.When you reinsert the plug into the wall

socket, the appliance will continue brewing until the water reservoir is

empty.

7The appliance switches off automatically after brewing.After

the on/off light has gone out, wait until no more coffee drips

from the filter before you remove the cup or cups.

- NB: the appliance does not keep the coffee hot!

- The after-brew drip stop prevents coffee from dripping onto the drip

tray after brewing.This drip stop may cause some water to remain

behind in the filter holder.This does not mean that the filter is

clogged.

C8If you have used a paper filter, throw it away.

C9If you have used the permanent filter, empty and rinse it.

Let the appliance cool down for at least 4 minutes before you start

making coffee again.

Cleaning

1Unplug the appliance.

2Clean the appliance with a moist cloth.

Never immerse the appliance in water!

3Clean the separate parts (drip tray, filter holder and permanent

filter, if any) in warm water with some washing-up liquid or in

the dishwasher.

Descaling

Regular descaling will prolong the life of your appliance and will

guarantee optimal brewing results for a long time.

In case of normal use, descale the appliance:

- 2 or 3 times a year if you are using soft water (up to 18 dH);

- 4 or 5 times a year if you are using hard water (over 18 dH).

Turn to your local water board for information about the water

hardness in your area.

1Fill the water tank with white vinegar (4% acetic acid). Do not

put a filter or coffee in the filter holder.

2Let the appliance run twice.

You can use the same vinegar for both runs.

3Let the appliance complete two more runs with fresh, cold

water to remove any vinegar and scale residues.

4Clean the separate parts (see chapter 'Cleaning').

BYou can also use an appropriate liquid descaler. In that case, follow the

instructions on the package of the descaler.

Cups

- You can order new cups (type no. HD7978) from a Philips service

centre.

Permanent filter

- The permanent filter is available under type no. HD7951.

Lesen Sie diese Bedienungsanleitung vor dem ersten Gebrauch des

Geräts sorgfältig durch und bewahren Sie sie zur späteren

Einsichtnahme auf.

◗Prüfen Sie, bevor Sie das Gerät in Betrieb nehmen, ob die

Spannungsangabe auf dem Gerät mit der örtlichen Netzspannung

übereinstimmt.

◗Benutzen Sie das Gerät nicht, wenn das Netzkabel, der

Netzstecker oder das Gerät selbst in irgendeiner Hinsicht

beschädigt oder defekt ist.

◗Wenn das Netzkabel defekt oder beschädigt ist, darf es nur von

einem Philips Service-Center oder einer von Philips autorisierten

Werkstatt durch ein Original-Ersatzkabel ausgetauscht werden,

um Gefährdungen zu vermeiden.

◗Halten Sie das Gerät sowie das Netzkabel außer Reichweite von

Kindern. Lassen Sie das Netzkabel nicht über die Kante der Tisch-

oder Arbeitsplatte hängen, auf der das Gerät steht.

◗Stellen Sie das Gerät nicht auf eine heiße Unterlage und achten

Sie darauf, dass das Gerät nicht in Berührung mit heißen

Oberflächen kommt.

◗Gießen Sie niemals Milch oder Kaffee in den Wasserbehälter.

Vorbereitung zum Gebrauch

1Stellen Sie das Gerät auf eine ebene Fläche.

2Stecken Sie den Netzstecker in die Steckdose.

C3Legen Sie überschüssiges Kabel im Uhrzeigersinn um die

Kabelaufwicklung an der Rückseite des Geräts.

Achten Sie darauf, dass das Netzkabel nicht mit heißen Flächen in

Berührung kommt.

Gebrauch des Geräts

1Füllen Sie die Tasse/Tassen, die Sie benutzen möchten, mit

frischem, kaltem Wasser.

C2Gießen Sie das Wasser in den Wasserbehälter.

Füllen Sie den Wasserbehälter nicht über die Höchststandsmarkierung

("MAX") hinaus.

C3Setzen Sie eine Papierfiltertüte (Größe 101) in den Filterhalter.

C◗Einige Gerätetypen werden mit einem Dauerfilter geliefert.

Verwenden Sie niemals gleichzeitig einen Dauerfilter und eine

Papierfiltertüte.

BSie können einen Dauerfilter auch separat bestellen (siehe Abschnitt

"Tassen und Filter bestellen").

C4Geben Sie (für Filterkaffee) gemahlenen Kaffee in den Filter.

- Achten Sie darauf, dass das Kaffeemehl nicht zu fein wird, wenn Sie

die Kaffeebohnen selbst mahlen.

- Nehmen Sie ca. zwei gestrichene Kaffeelote gemahlenen Kaffee pro

Tasse, wenn Sie großeTassen verwenden (z. B. die mit dem Gerät

geliefertenTassen).

- Nehmen Sie ein gestrichenes Kaffeelot gemahlenen Kaffee proTasse,

wenn Sie kleinereTassen verwenden.

- Selbstverständlich können Sie die Kaffeemenge Ihrem persönlichen

Geschmack anpassen.

C5Stellen Sie die Tasse/Tassen unter die Auslauföffnungen.

C6Schalten Sie das Gerät am Ein-/Ausschalter ein.

Die Ein-/Aus-Lampe leuchtet.

Nehmen Sie dieTasse/Tassen während des Brühvorgangs nicht vom

Gerät!

BWährend des Brühvorgangs können Sie das Gerät nur ausschalten,

indem Sie den Netzstecker aus der Steckdose ziehen.Wenn Sie den

Stecker wieder in die Steckdose stecken, wird der Brühvorgang

fortgesetzt, bis der Wasserbehälter leer ist.

7Das Gerät stellt sich nach dem Brühen automatisch aus.

Nachdem die Ein-/Aus-Lampe erloschen ist, warten Sie noch,

bis kein Kaffee mehr aus dem Filter tropft, und entnehmen Sie

dann die Tasse/Tassen.

- Hinweis: Das Gerät hält den Kaffee nicht heiß!

- DieTropf-Stop-Funktion verhindert, dass nach dem Brühen noch

Kaffee auf dasTassentablett tropft. Durch den Tropf-Stop bleibt

möglicherweise etwas Wasser im Filterhalter zurück. Dies bedeutet

jedoch nicht, dass der Filter verstopft ist.

C8Entsorgen Sie die gebrauchte Papierfiltertüte.

C9Wenn Sie einen Dauerfilter benutzt haben, leeren und reinigen

Sie ihn.

Lassen Sie das Gerät mindestens 4 Minuten lang abkühlen, bevor Sie

weiteren Kaffee zubereiten.

Reinigung

1Ziehen Sie den Netzstecker aus der Steckdose.

2Reinigen Sie das Gerät mit einem feuchten Tuch.

Tauchen Sie das Gerät niemals in Wasser!

3Reinigen Sie die einzelnen Teile (Tassentablett, Filterhalter bzw.

Dauerfilter) in warmem Spülwasser oder im Geschirrspüler.

Entkalken

Regelmäßiges Entkalken verlängert die Nutzungsdauer des Geräts und

sichert optimale Ergebnisse bei der Zubereitung von Kaffee.

Bei normalem Gebrauch entkalken Sie das Gerät:

- 2 bis 3 Mal pro Jahr bei weichem Wasser (bis 18 dH);

- 4 bis 5 Mal Pro Jahr bei hartem Wasser (über 18 dH).

Das für Sie zuständige Wasserwerk gibt Ihnen Auskunft über den

Härtegrad des Wassers in Ihrer Region.

1Füllen Sie den Wasserbehälter mit Haushaltsessig (4%

Essigsäure). Geben Sie weder Filtertüte noch Kaffee in den

Filterhalter.

2Lassen Sie das Gerät zweimal durchlaufen.

Sie können beide Male dieselbe Essiglösung verwenden.
