responsible for maintenance of the equipment and

play area. A maintenance schedule must be

developed and the equipment inspected frequently.

Periodic Inspections, maintenance, repair and

replacement of damaged parts is necessary for the

safe operation and use of the equipment

the end of this document.

EXCAVATION AND FOOTING INFORMATION

Remember, the excavation depths detailed in the drawings on the

following page are based on the top of the planned safety

surfacing and may not necessarily be at the same height of the

current surface.

The actual width required for installing the merry go round and

retaining ring is only about 10’, but we recommend a width of 12’

for ease of installation. 12’ really allows you to get under the

platform to install the braces and the platform itself.

The deep hole in the center that is 3’ in diameter and about 5’

deep is for the merry go round post. It installs the same as a

standard post, but as this unit is flush mount, the depth of that hole

from the surface is greater.

Once the excavation has been completed you can install the post

and drainage.

Post depth is 5’ from the top of the planned finished height

of the safety surfacing, the main excavation is 12’ wide

down to 2’, the remaining width for the post is 3’ at the

center. 10” of blocking material is planned at the bottom

for the post to sit on.

IMPORTANT

DRAINAGE

A drainage system is recommended for underneath the accessible

merry go round. The area underneath the merry go round platform is

recessed into the ground and may not drain naturally. Drainage

should be installed below the excavated area.

NOTE

Access panels in the merry go round platform are installed for

assembly/maintenance.

§Apply Loctite to all bolts during assembly prior to

completely tightening them.

§Do not use impact gun as Stainless Steel hardware can

occasionally be difficult to use particularly if you need to

take them out to make an adjustment. It is recommended

that you add a drop of oil to bolts that may have to be

removed before you install them.

§Do not tighten bolts all the way until the unit is completely

assembled and all components are square and level.

§Identify and separate all parts by referencing the detail

drawings and the parts list.

§As you unpack and separate the components, use the

cardboard sheets that were used for packing and shipping

to prevent damage to the components. This is particularly

true all Powder Coated and Thermoplastic coated

components, by setting the components on top of the

cardboard.

INSTALLATION STEPS

__1. Once the desired location has been determined while keeping a

20’ diameter use zone in mind, dig a 12’ diameter hole to a depth of

24" and at the center of that hole dig an additional 3’ (or 5’ from the

top of the safety surfacing height) hole for the footing. (SEE

IMAGES ON PREVIOUS PAGE)

__2. After all loose material is removed from the hole for the post,

add 10” of dry concrete and blocking material to the bottom of the

hole to support the post. Place the post assembly (3) with the bearing

pocket facing up and out of the hole. Plumb and level post – NOTE:

Post must be perfectly level in all directions before adding

concrete for safety and durability of product.

__3 Add concrete to hole, crown the top of the concrete down and

away from the post to help prevent water build up around the post.

Periodically check the post to ensure it is level while concrete is

curing. Brace the post into position if necessary. Before installing

remaining MGR components, wait till concrete is completely cured

based on supplier’s instructions.

__4 While waiting on concrete to cure, install drainage system in

between the post and where the perimeter ring will be installed,

below the excavated area. Installer or owner needs to design the

drainage system

__5. After concrete has cured, place the Ball Bearing (7) into the

pocket on the post and coat the bearing with general purpose grease.

Next slide the Hub assembly (5) onto the post. (Refer to detail A)

__6. Attach the MGR support arms (6) to the hub assembly

(5) by sliding the arm over the tabs on the hub (do not attach

to the side of the tabs) and secure using 1 1/2” bolts, 3/8

washers and 3/8” nuts. (See Detail D – Previous Page)

__7. When installing the deck sections (1) make sure NOT to

place tab on support arm (6) in between the deck sections, tab

should fit on the inside of the flanged side of the deck. Also,

completely install all deck sections and level decks to the

perimeter ring before tightening the bolts completely. There

are two different types of decks with this unit, when laying

them out and assembling the unit be sure to alternate from

one to the other so that the same decks are placed diagonally.

When tightening the bolts move around the entire unit and

tighten them evenly to ensure the deck sections are properly

aligned and to ensure there are no gaps between the deck

sections. Connect the support arm (6) to the deck sections as

well as the deck sections to each other using 1 1/4” bolts (12),

3/8 washers and 3/8 nuts. (Refer to Detail C for connecting

the support arms to the decks and Detail G for connecting the

deck sections)

DECK TO PREVENT SERIOUS INUJURY

__8. Attach the Hub Disk (4) to the deck sections (1) and the

Hub Assembly (5) by placing hub disk on top of the decks

over the hub assembly and attach by inserting the 4” carriage

bolts down through the decks and hub assembly. Secure from

the bottom of the hub assembly with 1/2” washers and 1/2”

lock nut. (See Detail E)
