1.1 Notes for operational safety
The machine has been carefully designed and is safe.
Nevertheless, hazards may arise from the machine.
•If the machine is not used as intended.
•If the machine is used for an improper application.
•If the machine is operated under impermissible conditions.
For this reason, please take note of the instructions in the following
sections so that you can work safely and enjoyably.
1.2 Instructions for use
Please take note of the following points when handling the machine:
•When unpacking, make sure that you choose a secure surface to unpack
the machine safely.
•Keep animals and objects away from the area around the sewing
machine.
•Always operate the machine on a sturdy, clean and level surface.
•Keep children away from the machine.
•Always keep animals and objects away from the area around the foot
controller.
•Replace defective or damaged machine parts immediately. Only use
original parts!
•Change the needles regularly. Worn or damaged needles pose a hazard.
•Spare parts and tools must comply with the technical requirements laid
down by the manufacturer! This is only always guaranteed with original
spare parts.
•Perform maintenance work in the manner described in this manual.
•Observe the deadlines for recurring maintenance work.
•Only rectify faults when the machine is switched off. Unplug the power
plug too.
•Never change, dismantle or bypass safety devices.

•Never deactivate safety equipment.
•Never make structural changes to the machine.
•Never operate the machine outdoors where it is exposed to the elements.
•In the event of a malfunction, switch the machine off immediately.
•W6 WERTARBEIT offers frequent sewers an annual inspection, at the
owner’s expense. Normal use indicates that an inspection should be
performed every two to four years.
1.3 After sewing
Observe the following points after use:
•Clean the machine and remove any small pieces of thread, lint or dust.
•Switch the machine off.
•Always unplug the power plug.
•Position the machine so it cannot fall.
•Always keep the machine out of the reach of children and animals.
•Change the needles regularly. Worn or damaged needles pose a hazard.
1.4 Tips for a long service life
To ensure a long service life, please take note of the following:
•Do not expose the machine to direct sunlight, moisture or high levels of
humidity.
•Clean your machine regularly. Perform these tasks thoroughly and at least
once a year. In the event of increased use, more frequently.
•When cleaning the machine, only use dry or damp cloths.
•Never use benzine, thinners or other chemical cleaning agents for
cleaning.
•Do not expose the machine to strong vibrations.
•Based on its design, the machine is not intended for commercial use.
•ave it inspected by a W6 workshop (this may result in additional costs).
•Frequent sewers should send the machine in for an annual inspection
while an inspection every 2 to 4 years should be sufficient for normal use.

wage costs, spare parts and shipping costs).

Specific knowledge and skills are required when working with this machine.
•You should be confident when working with the machine.
•You must have read and understood the safety notes and this manual.
•Always have a clear head when working with the machine.
•Never work with the machine when under the influence of alcohol or
drugs.
•Take note of the package insert when taking medication.
•If you are pregnant, let someone help you when assembling and moving
the machine.
•Do not dismantle the machine but leave this to a trained specialist.
•You are personally suited to operate the sewing machine.
•In case of doubt, always contact our Service Department. To do so,

•Only allow an authorised workshop to work on electrical components.

This section contains information on how to set up the machine:

2.1 Unpacking
You are responsible for shipping the machine for inspection or repair to a W6
specialist workshop. To avoid any damage, please send the machine in its
original packaging. We therefore recommend that the packaging material,
including polystyrene, be stored.
In this case, ensure that all packaging material is stored out of the reach of
children.
DANGER There is a risk of suffocation
On delivery, the machine is packed in a plastic bag. There is a risk of
suffocation for children who play with it.
➔Cut up the plastic bags.
➔Make sure that children do not play with the packaging material.
AUTION The machine is supplied with a needle installed
There is a risk of being pricked by the needle.
➔Take care of the needle when unpacking.
Carry out the following steps:
1. Unpack the machine on a suitable surface.
2. Cut up all plastic bags supplied with the machine.
3. Store the packaging material in a secure place out of the reach of children.
!Should you wish to dispose of it, do not simply throw the packaging
Material away but send it for recycling.

2.2 Setting up
When setting up, please pay attention to the following points:
•The supporting surface must be sturdy, non-slip and of adequate size.
•There is adequate lighting for work.
•Your seat ensures a convenient and ergonomically sound posture when
working.
•It is placed out of the reach of children and animals.
•It is not exposed to direct sunlight.
•It is not exposed to high levels of humidity or moisture.
•It is not placed next to radiators or other heat sources.
2.3 Connecting the machine
Prerequisite:
•The power cable is not damaged.
•There are no heavy objects on the cable.
•The cable is not exposed to high temperatures.
•The mains voltage is 230 volts.
DANGER Danger to life posed by electric shock
The sewing machine operates at low voltage. Improper connection poses the risk
of an electric shock.
➔Only use an easily accessible power socket as a power source.
➔Do not operate several devices from one power socket. There is a risk of
overloading.
➔Do not pull the plug out of the socket with wet hands.
➔Do not plug the plug into the socket with wet hands.
➔Do not pull the plug out of the socket by the power cable.
